In this episode, I speak to Kate whose been living with type 1 diabetes since the age of 4.
Kate and I discuss her life with diabetes, how she navigated school years, life as an elite athlete and the breakdown of her relationship with type 1 in high school. We also talk about the impact living with multiple health conditions had on her career as a lawyer and how this led to her retiring. Kate’s journey is remarkable because despite all the challenges she never lost the will to help others and this has led to her writing her book Relentless which we discuss towards the end of the show.
We do talk about Kate’s journey with eating disorders and disordered eating so please take this is a trigger warning.
In this episode when talking about glucose levels we use mg/dl. If you use mmols per decliter then multiply the mmol number by 18 to convert.
