Ep. 03: Meet Geth Davies
The Struts Life
06/25/24 • 29 min
Welcome back to The Struts Life! In this week's episode, we dive deep into the rhythm that keeps the band moving with our incredibly talented drummer, Gethin Davies. Remember, he’s the one who isn't always in the limelight, but trust me, his story is equally fascinating! From growing up in a pub with music on tap to crashing his university's music tech program, Geth's journey to joining The Struts is anything but ordinary. You'll hear about his early days skipping math class for drum lessons, his stint in a hilariously mismatched "hardcore math indie" band, and the serendipitous audition that landed him in a band that's now taking the world by storm.
If you're keen to explore the hurdles and highs that shaped The Struts' early years, this episode will keep you hooked from start to finish. S
o, hit play and get ready to hear Geth's captivating journey with plenty of humor, heart, and, of course, great music.

Ep. 01: Meet Luke Spiller
The Struts Life
06/25/24 • 46 min
Welcome to the inaugural episode of The Struts Life!
Join me, Leah Jones, as I chat with the charismatic frontman of The Struts, Luke Spiller, about the remarkable journey of this electrifying rock band. From their humble beginnings facing mixed reception in the music industry to declining mainstream opportunities like the X Factor, Luke takes us deep into the band's resilience and creative renewal. Signed by a record label under Gary Barlow's smaller Virgin Records label and navigating through emotional turmoil, personnel changes, and the reconstruction of their lineup with Jed Elliott and Gethin Davies, The Struts' story is a testament to perseverance and passion. Luke's heartfelt recounting of early gigs, including performances at lunchtime concerts and school jazz bands, paints a vivid picture of his dedication to music.

Ep 10: Backstage in Devizes - Stories from Jed’s Youth
The Struts Life
08/06/24 • 32 min
This week, we’re taking a detour from the typical tales of rock ‘n’ roll life to dive into Jed’s roots. Contrary to popular belief, Jed isn’t from Bath—Google got it wrong! He’s actually from the quaint market town of Devizes. Nestled just outside of Bath, Devizes is rich with history, built around the magnificent Devizes Castle. It’s a place where merchants once peddled their wares to castle-goers, and today, the town still hosts a bustling farmer’s market.
Jed paints a vivid picture of Devizes, highlighting its vibrant arts community and unique events, like the annual confetti battle—a quirky tradition where cannons blast confetti into the air. This picturesque town, though small, holds a special place in Jed’s heart. Despite its modest size of about 16,000 people, Devizes boasts a robust cultural scene, including a two-week arts festival that kicks off with the confetti battle. Jed’s memories from his hometown, combined with his early days in Bath, reveal a charming, idyllic upbringing that contrasts beautifully with his high-energy life on tour.
Stay tuned as we continue our hometown tour with the rest of The Struts!
