Howdy, I’m Clayton Hansler. I’ve been working in film, television and sports for 15 years now - but you probably know me as either being that annoying AHL guy or the dude that created a soccer documentary series. I've befriended some of the most talented, smart, creative and funny people along the way and this podcast is a conversation between myself many of them... or some people that I'm meeting for the first time. The guests are usually people way more popular than me and their stories are pretty darn awesome. So I invite you to join in on the conversation for an hour each week, and don’t forget your earmuffs (the podcast isn’t always PG).

The Stringer - Introducing: Bunkertown
play

05/10/23 • 8 min

Bunkertown is your favorite golfer's caddie's favorite podcast. Join our weekly foursome and take a ride around the PGA tour with insights into the top news, players, courses, trends, results and picks. Hosts Zack, Nolan, Reid and Stark offer an informed yet playful approach choosing to focus more on their love of the game than mocking those who play.
Past guests include PGA tournament winners Arjun Atwal and Ryan Armour, LPGA winner Ryann O’Toole, NFL’er Danny Woodhead and Nascar driver Ty Dillon.
You're going to hear a clip from episode 1 of Bunkertown called "Wyndham Wins: Rickie Breaks Through & Paul Tesori Joins" about Wyndham Clark’s life changing win, Rickie Fowler getting back in the top 50 and how things have been going with up and coming superstar Cameron Young.

The Stringer - Crossover: Toronto Mike'd
play

12/03/18 • 65 min

We've got another crossover comin' atcha as Mike Boon from Toronto Mike'd drops by for an entertaining chat that kicks off with how Mike broke the eggs so that we could all enjoy podcast omelettes (5:39), the theory of how CanCon rules gave all us Canadians an identity (14:19) and that time Clay met Sloan... kind of... twice (17:58). The two remember fondly the glory days of nu metal (21:40) before Mike spills Stringer secrets (24:54). The Molly Johnston incident comes up (35:04) and the origin of Mike's 'kick out the jams' segments (43:13) all before Clay closes it off with the tale of when he wanted to be in radio (59:10).

Camila Gonzalez (TLN) pops by the studio for the most enlightening conversation with Clay. She’s traveled the world as a journalist, she’s then traveled it again as a pageant winner, she’s quick with a joke, takes the edge of things with a smirk, and will outsmart you around every turn. She’s a Columbian born, football juggling, tv talking, trilingual journalistic beauty queen (in fact the second Miss Universe Canada competitor we’ve had on the podcast) and the only person Clay knows to have ever asked the Prime Minister to prove his feminism during an interview.

Chris Clarke (MWO Sports) drops by the newly renovated but not quite completed studio to discuss the most important of issues; does Sidney Crosby swear (9:13). It doesn't take long for this long time radio vet to tell stories of a time before message boards (14:13), what the first days of Prime Time Sports with Bob McCowan were like (20:24), that time when George Steinbrenner called (48:41) and playing hockey against Brian Burke (57:35). But beware, it's also a cautionary tale of never meeting your heroes (01:07:06).

The Stringer - On The Phone: Matthew Scianitti
play

05/06/20 • 27 min

Clay is joined on the phone by Matthew Scianitti (TSN) and the two of them reflect on the creative ups-and-downs presented by self isolation and the need to take care of ourselves before being overly concerned with our daily creative output. Matt shares the story of his last minute trip to Los Angeles after the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant and opens up about the enormous responsibility of being embedded in any major event (and how scary it was his first time around).
