EP135: Graham Nolan - My Heroes Have Always Been Giant Sized, Two Fisted Men!
The Sovereign Man Podcast
03/14/24 • 31 min
“Jaw breaking, teeth busting, lip splitting, action tales. Pro masculine.”
When it comes to finding your path in life, Graham's got some solid advice. Be passionate about your goals, but also be realistic about your skills.
Graham Nolan, a comic book legend from the DC and Marvel universe back in the day, is joining us to talk about his journey from the mainstream comic industry to founding Compass Comics after things got a bit too "woke" for his taste. Graham’s been married for 38 years and has raised three daughters. He's a firm believer in the idea that marriage between masculine and feminine is what makes us truly human.
It's absolutely possible to find success while staying true to your masculine values in today's world. Graham has seen firsthand how the comic book business changed over the years, with corporations caring less about the quality of the product and more about milking IPs for movies and TV, resulting in modern, woke ideology making its way into the Marvel and DC universe. That's where Compass Comics comes in - it's all about staying true to the tradition of storytelling and giving the wokesters a big middle finger.
Talking about the portrayal of men in the media, Graham's fed up with the massaging from the media telling us that men are nothing more than goofballs and comic relief, with children not needing to respect them.
Check out Graham's latest project, "Giant Size Two Fisted Manly Tales."

EP72: Lt Colonel David Grossman - It's Springtime For Snowflakes
The Sovereign Man Podcast
12/28/22 • 48 min
“I think we should be profoundly concerned about the woke message being given to our children through our schools.”
“The only thing in the world we can control is ourselves. And we give way to bitterness, if we give way to cynicism or complacency or denial, then we’ve given away the one thing we can control. If you lose your temper, you didn’t lose it, you gave it away.”
Recent events have shown us there’s a force in the process of trying to take away our freedom; our ability to control our children, our families, and our communities. Even our beliefs. But ultimately these events have only served as a wakeup call. This force is not winning. It’s clear that the majority will not stand by to allow this to unfold. But the way forward is standing up for the principles that support our basic human nature and promote the virtue that strengthens every aspect of our selves and our society.
Lt Colonel David Grossman is a decorated soldier, Westpoint psychology professor, husband and father, and a man of faith. He’s seen the battle ground and he understands the strength of a man and a society that fights with virtue for truth and freedom. He knows that a man’s freedom is ultimately maintained by his virtuous principles, not his government. He’s written several books, including the Amazon best seller, On Killing (Marine Core Commandants required reading), On Combat, and the soon to be released, On Hunting. He’s trained military and law enforcement around the world.
Dave’s advice for how to empower your masculinity:
- Get control of your life and promote healthy sleep for your self and your family.
- Identify the things you can do in a violent world. Learn how to handle a weapon and know how to use it virtuously. Don’t live in fear.
- Get control of your children, their training and education. Get control of local politics, school boards. Invest in their education and future through faith based, private education.
- Live a virtuous life. Build a virtuous family.
Some of Dave’s other books are; On Combat, On Spiritual Combat, Sheepdog (kids book), and his latest book, soon to be published is, On Hunting. You can find all of Dave’s books at https://grossmanontruth.com/.

Ep. 09: Steve Richmond - Stages Of Manhood
The Sovereign Man Podcast
10/06/21 • 56 min
There’s a natural process that a boy goes through on his way to becoming a man. But arriving at manhood isn’t as simple as turning a certain age or achieving anything superficial. Certain foundations have to be laid along the way so that each stage of growth has something solid to build on and the boy develops a solid character. Going through this development with fathers and strong masculine role medals is essential.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
- Why and how a man should take criticism from other men.
- How to find success throughout your life by surrounding yourself with men.
- The consequences of going it alone.
Steve is a professional coach, working with men, women, and couples for 30 years. He's not in the business of giving advice. He listens intuitively to what’s going on and turns obstacles in to opportunities. He’s a man who’s learned from his mistakes and realized he wanted to be more for his kids, and to lead a successful life. He’s been doing men’s work since 1994.

Ep. 02: Victimhood Mentality and The Reversal of Truth
The Sovereign Man Podcast
08/18/21 • 47 min
“Run, young man, to the stern hand of your father, and away from the soft hand of your mother.”
The world and men have become soft, and it’s no wonder. There’s an attack on strong men and traditional masculinity by a force that’s inverting our principles, and as the world gets flipped too many people can’t see up from down. What was once considered strong is now considered weak and a threat to society. The narrative wants you to believe you’re a victim, and if you don’t see it that way then you must be part of the problem.
Join your host, Nicky Billou and guest, Ilan Muallem, as they go in to this and related issues in detail.
Ilan Muallem is an actor, director, painter, CEO of Egard Watch Co, and he holds a black belt in Brazilian jiujitsu. He played Wesley in the feature film “The Walking Dead”, has made several appearances on Fox News among many other screen appearances.

- How to find a greater purpose outside yourself.
- How to stay true to your values in a world of misinformation.

Ep. 07: Chris Widener - Freedom, Mentorship, and The Integrity of Men
The Sovereign Man Podcast
09/22/21 • 39 min
Freedom.
A quick study of what freedom is and how to maintain it reveals a pattern. There’s a common set of values that each of us has to understand and respect. These values are alive and strong today but it’s getting harder to pass these on to younger generations.
Today, Nicky and our guest, Chris Widener, talk about looking for and growing up with mentors who know how to motivate boys or other men to be the best they can be. We learn about the integrity of men while Chris talks about one of his books, The Real Man Handbook, and last but not least, we learn about freedom and an incredible event, The American Freedom Tour, that will make a major contribution to defending and promoting the freedoms we all enjoy and should continue to enjoy for generations to come.
Chris Widener is an internationally renowned speaker, with clients like General Electric, Cisco Systems, Microsoft and the Harvard Business School. He’s been a personal and professional development coach since 1988. In 1990, he started a small publishing company called the American Community Business Network. The name was eventually changed to Made for Success and tens of thousands of personal development programs were sold through large retailers like Costco, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, Target and Barnes and Noble. He’s authored over 450 articles and twenty books including best sellers such as The Angel Inside, The Art of Influence, The Leadership Rules, Live the Life You Have Always Dreamed Of, Twelve Pillars, and the sequel to Twelve Pillars, Above All Else.
You can find the book that Chris co-authored with Larry Winget on Amazon.

EP90: Geoff Tomlinson - Why A Man Needs To Be Part Of A Brotherhood Of Men
The Sovereign Man Podcast
05/03/23 • 50 min
“Attempting to walk the world as a man of honour and integrity will come out for you multiple times when the shit hits the fan. And it will always give you confidence. But it will also give you a fallback, default way of being when the world is trying to knock you off of your foundation. That’s a foundation that you can’t knock a man off of if he’s determined to stay on it.”
Boys look for role models as they grow up. In a perfect world, boys would be given a solid set of principles from their fathers that would be their foundation for life. Integrity, honour, and discipline are three that Geoff Tomlinson puts at the top of the list in todays episode. Unfortunately the state of families and of society in general has left too many boys looking elsewhere for guidance. And too often being mislead. But this episode isn’t so much about what men and boys don’t have, it’s about where they can find it once they’ve realized it’s missing.
In today’s episode:
- The difference between what media and some women tell us they want vs the true role a man is meant to play.
- Integrity, honour, and a moral compass.
- Confusion among men about masculinity.
- Men’s groups: what they offer and what they are not.

EP165: Billou & Arpa - Why Men Get Stuck In The Seeking Success Stage
The Sovereign Man Podcast
10/10/24 • 24 min
Have you ever wondered why so many men remain stuck in their pursuit of success, constantly rebelling against their past or blaming others for their struggles?
At some point, many men find themselves grappling with unresolved issues surrounding their upbringing, especially the influence of their fathers or father figures. Whether it's idolizing, resenting, or competing with them, these feelings can shape a man's path to success—or derail it entirely. If you’ve ever found yourself stuck, feeling like you're spinning your wheels while blaming your past, you’re not alone.
While it’s common for young men to challenge authority and seek their own path, this phase is meant to evolve. When it doesn’t, men can find themselves trapped, pointing fingers at their fathers or external circumstances for their lack of success. The episode delves into how this lingering resentment and refusal to take full responsibility can hold men back. We discuss the shift from rebellion to ownership—what it takes to stop blaming the past, take control, and create a life defined by personal responsibility and true achievement.

EP54: G. Michael Hopf - Why Hard Times Create Strong Men
The Sovereign Man Podcast
08/24/22 • 54 min
“Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times.”
- G. Michael Hopf
The above poem says it all. The rise, decline and fall of the Roman empire is testament to this cycle. When the living is easy, mankind has a tendency to give in to temptation, trading dignity for decadence. Over time, basic human principles slide until they start to reverse and what was once known to be weakness is now seen as strength and vice versa. But this cycle only exists and is able to repeat itself because, while mankind may change, the foundation of reality doesn’t.
We all know we’re headed in to hard times now, but Geoff Michael Hopf believes that it’s an opportunity. We need to embrace these hard times as part of the cycle so that strong men can bring about another era of good times.
Along these lines, Geoff offers the following advice:
- Develop self-reliance. Pull back from modern culture. Limit your time on social media and pornography. Focus that energy toward educating yourself, learning new skillsets. Prepare for recession by building financial literacy.
- The mind is everything. We are an expression of our thoughts. Strengthen your mind. Practice gratitude and find the weaknesses inside yourself.
Geoff is a best-selling author with 37 books written. His writing style includes post-apocalyptic landscapes, Wild West gunfights, and the paranormal. He also runs his own publishing company called Beyond The Fray Publishing, focussing on non-fiction paranormal, cryptid, UFO and true crime.

EP147:Ken Stapleton - Why Elders Matter
The Sovereign Man Podcast
06/05/24 • 34 min
“Hey, we need to lend a hand here. We need to get these younger men into a place where they actually need to know how to change a tire... change a set of spark plugs. Younger men are lost.”
Are we losing touch with the wisdom of our elders? Do young men today understand the true essence of masculinity? In today's fast-paced world, many men feel lost, disconnected from their roots, and unsure of their role in society. The values and skills that once defined masculinity are being overshadowed by modern distractions and confusion. But what if reclaiming these lost traditions could help us find our way back?
In a world that often feels increasingly disconnected from traditional values, many of us feel a deep yearning for guidance, wisdom, and strength. We all seek a sense of purpose and direction, especially in challenging times. Elders role is providing wisdom and guidance to younger generations. Their life experiences and insights can help young men navigate the complexities of life with greater clarity and confidence. Elders act as role models, demonstrating values such as integrity, resilience, and responsibility.
Over recent decades, rapid societal changes have created confusion about what it means to be a man. Movements towards gender equality, changing family dynamics, and the digital revolution have all contributed to this uncertainty. The decline of traditional industries and the rise of knowledge-based economies have shifted the roles men play in both work and home environments. This confusion is compounded by the lack of positive male role models in media and public life, leading to a crisis of identity for many men.
Ken Stapleton is a man with over two decades of experience in men's work. He is someone who understands the importance of nurturing younger men into true masculinity. He's here to share his insights on how we can integrate traditional masculine values into modern societal norms and why this integration is more crucial now than ever.
If you’re feeling disconnected or unsure about your place in the world, it’s time to take action. Start by taking an active role in the lives of the young men around you. Teach them the skills they need to become self-reliant and sovereign.
