About Lindsay Wolfson
Lindsay Wolfson, MPH, is a women's health researcher, consultant, and advocate. She holds a Master of Public Health in Social Inequities and Health from Simon Fraser University. Lindsay is currently the manager at a women's health research and knowledge exchange centre, where she focuses on research and collaboration related to perinatal substance use, chronic pain, violence prevention, sexual health, and community health. Lindsay was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2021 after a decade of living with chronic pain.
About Dr. Al-Arnawoot
Dr. Basma Al-Arnawoot is a staff radiologist at Hamilton General Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Radiology at McMaster University. She completed her residency training at McMaster University, followed by a fellowship in Women’s Imaging at the University of Toronto.
With specialized training and expertise in Body and Breast Imaging, Dr. Al-Arnawoot has a particular focus on advanced imaging and the diagnosis of benign complex gynecological conditions. She serves as the Chair of the Endometriosis Working Group at the Canadian Association of Radiology, a Board Member of the Canadian Society of Abdominal Radiology (CSAR) Executive Committee, and the Body MRI Lead at Hamilton General Hospital.
Dr. Al-Arnawoot is an active peer reviewer for several national and international medical journals, including CARJ, RadioGraphics, Reproduction and Fertility Journal, and JMIRO. Her research interests center on imaging of benign complex gynecological diseases and advancements in medical education.
About Dr. LeonardiDr. Mathew Leonardi is an expert in complex gynecology, endometriosis excision surgery and gynaecological ultrasound (assistant professor) at McMaster University Medical Centre in Hamilton, Canada. He is an honorary adjunct lecturer at the University of Adelaide. His philosophy of care includes working in an interdisciplinary team and patient-centred decision making. He has been awarded his PhD from the University of Sydney which is focused on the utility of ultrasound in the diagnosis and surgical management of endometriosis.
Dr. Leonardi is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in his field. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles, several textbook chapters, and presented at numerous international congresses on endometriosis. He has received numerous awards for his conference presentations on endometriosis. He is an avid researcher, actively contributing academically to the advancement of gynecologic health.
Dr. Leonardi is on the World Endometriosis Society Early Career Board and a founding member of the Next Generation Committee at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is an Associate Editor for Reproduction & Fertility and on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Canada. He is part of an international research group named Imagendo, which won the most prestigious science award in Australia, the 2023 ANSTO Eureka Prize for Innovative Use of Technology.

He attained his medical degree from the University of Toronto and graduated Summa Cum Lauda from Harvard University with a Master of Health Care Management. Dr. Leyland holds academic positions at McMaster University, contributing to research and training future gynaecologists.
About Dr. Singh
Dr. Singh is the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Ottawa, the Head of the Department in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Care at The Ottawa Hospital, and the E. Jolly Research Chair in Gynecologic Surgery at the Ottawa Hospital Institute. He has taken an active role in supporting gynaecology education and clinical care at the national level. Currently, he focuses his practice in the area of surgical excision of deep infiltrative endometriosis. At a local level, he has developed a specialty clinic for a multi-disciplinary approach to managing complex benign gynaecologic conditions.
About Dr. Bougie
Dr. Bougie is an Assistant Professor at Queen’s University in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She attained her medical degree at Queen’s University and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Ottawa. She subsequently completed an AAGL Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynaecology at the University of Ottawa, as well as a Master of Public Health, Clinical Epidemiology at Harvard University. La Dre Francoeur a été la première femme présidente de la Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ) et a rempli tous ses mandats. Elle continue de travailler comme professeure agrégée au département d'obstétrique et de gynécologie du CHU Ste-Justine, affilié à l'Université de Montréal, et est une ardente défenseuse des droits des femmes, du leadership des médecins et des soins de santé.

La Dre Maheux-LaCroix est obstétricienne-gynécologue, chercheuse clinique et professeure adjointe au Département d'obstétrique et de gynécologie de l'Université Laval. Après avoir complété une maîtrise en épidémiologie (2010) et un certificat de spécialiste (2015), elle a poursuivi sa formation dans un programme de fellowship en chirurgie gynécologique laparoscopique au Royal Hospital for Women - UNSW, Sydney. About Dr. Nakajima Dr. Nakajima completed her medical school training at the University of Alberta and the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program at the University of Saskatchewan, receiving her Royal College certification in 2000. She has more recently completed a MSc in Human Factors and System Safety (Lund University, Sweden). Her clinical interest is in working with people who are traditionally considered vulnerable and marginalized. To this end, she provides clinical services at Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health, Bruyère Continuing Care, and in an outreach clinic at St. Mary's Home, an Ottawa-based social service agency which provides a full range of programs and services for young pregnant women, young parents, and their children. She is an assistant professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa and the Director, SIM Advancement & Innovation for Simulation Canada. She is an active clinician-teacher with training in medical education, simulation, and patient safety and quality improvement. She regularly participates in formal teaching at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional development levels, and is the Content Expert for the Reproduction and Sexuality block, Unit II, Anglophone stream, UGME, University of Ottawa.
About Benny Michaud Benny is a Two-Spirit Transgender Michif person born in St. Boniface, MB who advocates fiercely for Two-Spirit youth and Two-Spirit community inclusion.

Dr. Tunde-Byass is the president of the Black Physicians of Canada. She is involved with equity, diversity, and inclusivity, with a particular focus on anti-Black racism, and is the co-founder of the Women's Health Education Made Simple, also known as WHEMS, an initiative that promotes health literacy through online educational resources. Dr. Tunde-Byass is also an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
About Dr. Maxwell Dr. Maxwell is a maternal fetal medicine specialist at Mount Sinai Hospital and Women's College Hospital in Toronto, and a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto. I also co-lead an organization called N-ABL, which is a provincial network to support Black medical learners, and I'm the past president of the Black Physicians Association of Ontario.

Access to safe, voluntary family planning is a human right because it is essential for promoting gender equality, advancing the autonomy of women and reducing poverty. In this episode, our host Dr. Graeme Smith speaks with Dr. Amanda Black about coercion free contraceptive care and how access to safe and voluntary family planning improves patient outcomes.
Dr. Black is one of one of the authors of the SOGC committee opinion on Coercion Free Contraceptive Care that was published in the September 2021 edition of the JOGC.

About Dr. Amanda Black
Dr. Black is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Ottawa. She works at the Ottawa Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. She completed medical training at the University of Western Ontario, University of Ottawa, and Queen’s University and holds a Masters of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. She is an Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and is the Dr. Elaine Jolly Chair in Women’s Health Research.
Dr. Black has taken on many roles at the local, provincial, and national level including leadership roles within the SOGC where she is a member of the SOGC Board of Directors. She chaired the National Contraception Awareness Program for 10 years and is current Chair of the SOGC’s Sexual Health and Reproductive Equity (SHARE) Committee. Dr. Black has authored many national guidelines, and has published in the areas of pediatric gynecology, contraception, and obstetrics. She is recognized nationally and internationally for her clinical expertise, providing expertise to the Public Health Agency of Canada, Health Canada, and Statistics Canada, and has represented Canada at both the CDC and WHO in the development of the Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraception.
