It's that time of the year again and if you're still a student, you know what we're talking about - exam season... BUT don't worry as the slackers got y'all covered this episode as they talk about the weirdest study habits and rituals they've done in their lives, that may or may not have helped them get to where they are today. With Ron being the most intellectual between the three, he surprisingly thrives under pressure, studying days before the exam. And believe it or not, it's worked out pretty well for him. On the contrary, Thomas tries his best to prepare weeks before his exams, but ultimately isn't very efficient as whatever was read would simply enter one ear, and exit the other days later. Finally, from all the crazy experiments Earl has done in trying to achieve the best grades he could possibly attain, there's no doubt that he's tried them all, if not, most of the WEIRDEST ones, from study habits to even crazy superstitious rituals. So with that being said, go ahead and clear your busy schedules for another wild stupid rollercoaster of an episode, as the slackers help you prepare for your exams like you never have before. CAUTION: We are not liable for any failures or low grades, as these practices do not guarantee success. 🥴

The Slack Life Podcast - Your Grades Don't Define You... or Do They?
play

05/06/21 • 19 min

In the modern world we live in, students are more than often pressured with the idea that grades and GPAs define you as a student and as an intellectual individual... but do they really? In today’s INTENSE episode, the slackers openly discuss their opinions on whether grades directly determines success and helps you achieve your goals. From Earl's experiences from high school to university, he personally expresses his past challenges with not letting grades mentally affect him or those around him, believing that grades DO NOT and SHOULD NOT define a person and their future. Additionally, Thomas believes that it's not about how others see you, but how you see and think of yourself. Lastly, Ron agrees with the belief that grades do not determine the future of a person; however, he argues that education is still important as the life lessons you learn within and outside the class are important to the real world, referring to the success and failures you experience within school.
Several students are pressured with the expectations of high grades, and failing to do so or falling short, have resulted in mental and emotional distraught. Hence, the slackers are here to keep you company and remind you that there are always people around you willing to support and help you out - including us. As you prepare for your exams, don’t be so hard on yourself, live a little and remember, grades don't define you as a person. But the hard work, blood, sweat and tears you put into it does, regardless of the outcome.

Embarrassing moments, something that isn't particularly new for Ron, Thomas and Earl. Having lived pretty embarrassing lives, the slackers discuss the funniest and most embarrassing moments they have ever experienced, from classroom to public humiliation, they’ve got the stories to keep you entertained. As Thomas agrees to represent the Philippines last minute for a cultural performance in high school, that initially wasn't such a bad idea; ultimately turns into a disaster facing public humiliation, and emotionally scarring Thomas forever. Meanwhile, Earl being the student he was, never prepared for oral weekly group quizzes. His luck eventually ran out as he gets caught off-guard one day with a question, that transforms the oral quiz into a 'roast earl' session. Lastly, in the face of one of his most difficult obstacles up to date, having to hold his bladder in the middle of a science test, 4th grade Ron experienced one of his most embarrassing moments as he was ultimately forced to finish the test than going to the toilet. And in summary, it did not end very well...
In the end, these stories may indeed be embarrassing, but the slackers choose to flaunt them for YOUR entertainment, creating another CRAZY episode. And that is why you can't miss it...

The Slack Life Podcast - How To Conquer Your Greatest Fears
play

04/15/21 • 16 min

Do your fears hinder you from living your BEST life? Does it hold you back from certain activities? Because it definitely did so with the Slack Life boys, hence the 3 slackers discuss ways where they have overcame their fears and how some fears have kept them from living their best life.
With Earl’s fear in heights and falling, it has kept him away from his love for traveling due to the thought that someday, somehow, his fears might turn into reality. This fear followed him to theme parks where rollercoasters were his biggest enemy... until one day, his friends decided to go for one, and poor Earl had no other option but to join them and face his fear of rollercoasters, where he ultimately ended up enjoying, overcoming his fear. From being terrified of rollercoasters, to loving the thrill and adrenaline of it, it’s been a long journey for Earl, unfortunately for Thomas, it hasn't been as easy for him to get rid of his fear of heights. Similar to Earl’s rollercoaster story, what seemed to be a fun experience turned out to be the opposite for Thomas; filled with peeing, crying, screaming, expressing how scared he was. And while Earl and Thomas’ fears were quite identical, Ron’s fears were much more childish, reminiscing on the time when he used to be scared of the dark. His fear caused him unpleasant experiences when he had to venture to the toilet in the middle of the night, always assuming the worst would be lurking in each corner of the dark. This followed him to the bathroom when he would constantly fear the idea that someone is always hiding behind the shower curtain, all thanks to horror movies. Lastly, the 3 slackers share a common fear of cockroaches, which turns out quite descriptive to be written here, so you wouldn’t want to miss out on this episode as they share their experiences on their greatest fears in life to help you realize you're not alone... and possibly make you realize that you are much stronger than them when it comes to facing your fears.

In a world where approximately 70% of people globally have a smart phone with more than 90% being teenagers, we are surrounded by screens. But how many youths really take a step back and think about the social affects of smart phones today? Hence, buckle your seatbelts as this episode has the slackers answer the question - "Smart Phones: A Blessing or A Curse?". Thomas and Earl mutually agree that it is indeed a curse due to the addiction they've experienced and still experience with their eyes glued onto their smart screens, and how toxic it can get in the world of social media. On the contrary, Ron argues that it’s a blessing because of the countless benefits and resources that are placed on the palm of your hand, making daily tasks, communication, and other things hella convenient. However, he further admits to the faults and negativities that it brings along with it, and states that a 'balanced diet' is still required when using smart phones.
Regardless, there are NUMEROUS advantages and benefits that smart phones bring, but it ultimately depends on the intention behind its use, how it is used, and whether it's taken for granted, that results in it transforming into a curse. So strap yourself in for another episode, and perhaps let us know whether mobiles phones are indeed a blessing or a curse.

In hopes of spreading more awareness against the ongoing hate against Asians, Ron, Earl and Thomas discuss their experiences on the Asian stereotypes they've gone up against.
