August 2019 we must commemorate the first 20-30 West Africans who were forced into perpetual bondage this month in 1619. Peabody award recipient and MacArthur Genius Fellow Nikole Hannah-Jones lead a group of journalist, writers, and poets to create a journalistic piece of work they simply call the 1619 Project distributed through New York Times Magazine. I read several significant quotes from Nikole's introductory essay. This is a moment where we honor our ancestors and become more aware of how their struggle brought us to a place where we speak louder, dream bigger, and reach higher. This week is the last few days of Black History Month and we were blessed with a historical motion picture. Marvel's Black Panther. This week I featured a one of my first of few guest back when I started the pod' in 2015, Safia is lawyer with plenty of degrees and experience hailing from the "Town" or Oakland, CA.
