The Silent Footprints
Lisa Rowell
Have you lost a baby in a miscarriage, stillbirth or SIDS? Do you feel alone? Are you angry, depressed or struggling with all the emotions infant loss can have? Are you met with unwanted advice, inappropriate encouragement or feel bitter about your loss? Are you wondering where God stands in all this chaos? Do you wonder why America hasn't done much to save babies from preventable stillbirth? Were you able to get a certificate from your state dignifying your baby's life after you lost your baby in a miscarriage or stillbirth? Do you want to learn how to advocate for laws in your state that will raise awareness? Are you tired of sitting on the sidelines and ready to make some legislative changes in your state or in Congress?
10 years ago I asked God why and what was He going to do with my grief. Hello, my name is Lisa Rowell. My daughter Julianna Grace was born still in 2013. In grief and lamenting before God, I felt this sudden urge to help those like myself. Throughout the past decade I’ve learned a thing or two about loss. No one person grieves the same but we all want to make sense of it.
This Podcast aims to raise awareness on stillbirth, miscarriage, and infant loss, shedding light on these often overlooked issues. My Christian faith plays a significant role in how I survived my own loss, inspiring me to establish the Julianna Grace Ministry. I first began giving out grieving baskets to those who have lost a baby in a miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS or had an early infant loss. That led to raising money to donate a cuddle cot and caring cradle to hospitals in my city. Later, I helped pass legislation to give parents a tax credit for those who have had a stillbirth and a certificate dignifying babies who were lost in a miscarriage. I advocate for addressing the silent crisis of stillbirth through legislation in Louisiana and across the country, emphasizing the need to give dignity to all babies who have been lost too soon. Through my God given skills, I seek to bring hope and healing to those who have been affected by these heartbreaking circumstances.
This Podcast also addresses the need for legislative action to address the preventable stillbirth crisis in America. It discusses the importance of apps that monitor fetal and placenta health and the availability of certificates and tax credits for families who have experienced infant loss. By raising awareness and advocating for change, the podcast empowers parents through education to advocate for the lives of their lost children and future pregnancies.
Losing a baby can trigger a whirlwind of emotions, including anger, depression, shame and loneliness. The podcast explores the challenges faced by grieving parents, offering empathy and support. It addresses the unhelpful advice and inappropriate encouragements often encountered, and provides a safe space for sharing raw and vulnerable experiences.
If you are in the beginning or years down the road from the loss of your baby, this podcast is for you. I believe God is not done with you and if you allow Him, He will do the most unimaginable miracles in your life. 10 years ago I got up to grab my bottle of liquor and a bottle of pills to end it all until God intervened in the most miraculous way. “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13 You’ll be amazed what God did with someone like myself who had nothing to give. I truly never thought I'd have joy or peace. Don't give up, don't give in, hold fast and subscribe. “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14

The Silent Footprints

Today I am sharing a bible study I led on Saturday at my church. This study helped me so much and wanted to share it with some of the women who listen to this podcast.
I needed this reminder as it can become very exhausting advocating for Stillbirth but God encouraged me as I was preparing for this study.
I break it down verse per verse and share how I was taught wrong and how I was corrected.

22 | Samantha Durante Banerjee-PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy
The Silent Footprints
12/10/24 • 56 min
I met Samantha on Capital Hill. She like many of us lost her first born baby, but again like so many of the women here on this podcast instead of ignoring the stillbirth crisis in America she dove into research to help solve the problem.
Even though her doctor told her that her pregnancy was a “low risk” pregnancy she uncovered the real truth about stillbirth in America or the utter lack of progress in improving the US stillbirth rate.
Following her daughter's death, Samantha became known within the loss community for her candid writing on grief and has been featured in The Washington Post, TODAY, ProPublica, and ABC News. She survived the harrowing experience of two subsequent pregnancies, delivering a healthy son and second daughter. In 2021, she united with other bereaved parents founding PUSH to change the U.S. healthcare system from the top-down. (copied from www.pushpregnancy.org)

16 | Walker & Natalie Boggs-Barrett's Bears Ministry
The Silent Footprints
10/15/24 • 45 min
In 2018, the Boggs family seemed to be in a good place in life. Walker and Natalie were on fire for Christ, learning and taking in the scriptures. Their life seemed picture perfect when they received a phone call that would alter the course of their lives. Barrett went Home at just shy of being 5 months old. However, his little life would have a great purpose that has impacted thousands of families across the world. The Boggs family were in shock and grief but prayed that God would use Barrett. Through that prayer the Barrett's Bears Ministry was born.
Natalie and I were connected soon after her loss. I sent a grief basket that was delivered to her at church. You’ll hear what transpired and how our friendship deepened. She, in her greatest grief, wrote short devotions to the Lord. Crying out to God and seeking Him daily. You could almost see her on her knees reaching out to Jesus as her only lifeline. She was constantly on my mind. The Lord was using her and I asked her and encouraged her to write short devotionals on my group page. Little by little a planted seed for ministry began to grow in her heart. Through her faith she began Barrett's Bears Ministry, where she encouraged other mothers, parents and families to seek the Lord in their greatest trials.
Come to the Barrett’s Bears Ministry’s first Birthday Bash! Click on this link to find out more information or if you feel led to donate, sponsor or even volunteer! Barrett’s Birthday Bash will be on May 11th, 2024 so mark your calendars now and if you’ve received a bear bring it! I know I will! This is a worthy cause as this ministry is allowed in the most sacred spaces when families are heartbroken and devastated. Barrett’s story has brought so much encouragement to them. Barrett’s Bears Ministry is a 501c3 charity.
“When I received the Juliana Grace Ministry box my daughter watched me open the box and when she saw the bear she grabbed it, hugged it tightly and ran to her room. Now she has something to hold onto in memory of her lost sibling.” JGM grief box recipient.

20 | Tedashii- Acquainted with Grief
The Silent Footprints
11/19/24 • 63 min
On my podcast today, I had the immense honor of interviewing Grammy-nominated artist Tedashii. A founding member of Reach Records, Tedashii is a multifaceted individual who has graced the world with his talents as an established artist, speaker, writer, leader, husband, father, and so much more. He is one of my favorite faith-based rappers, known for his ability to articulate the depths of pain in a manner reminiscent of David's Psalms.
Having endured poverty, bullying, and the loss of loved ones, including his son Chase, Tedashii's resilience is an inspiration. Like many who have experienced the depths of grief, he reached a point where he desired to end his life. However, God had a different plan for him.
Prepare yourself with tissues and consider rewinding the interview several times as Tedashii recounts his moving testimony of the profound grief he experienced after losing his beloved son Chase. His story is a testament to the transformative power of faith and the unwavering love of God, who offers hope amidst the darkness of despair.
“Life is tough but in Him so are you.” Tedashii

12 | Ana Lepe Vick-PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy
The Silent Footprints
09/17/24 • 39 min
I had the great pleasure of meeting Ana Lepe Vick in Washington DC in May of 2023. About 50 of us set up meetings with Congressmen and Women to advocate for the Shine For Autumn Act and the Maternal and Child Health Stillbirth Prevention Act.
After a healthy first born daughter, Ana had a miscarriage, the stillbirth of our son Owen, and a missed miscarriage. It was such a dark period as she was feeling so devastated by our losses and broken as a woman who couldn’t seem to carry to term again. Delivering Owen by crash c-section late one evening after I noticed decreased fetal movement and finding out when she awoke that he didn’t survive was the most traumatic event of our lives, but the miscarriages also felt devastating because her and her husband wanted so badly to give their daughter a sibling to grow up with. Ana will never stop missing the babies that should’ve been here with their two living siblings, a piece of Ana died with them though she carries their memory with her in her advocacy efforts (non-profit PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy) and every day life. Her children are always loved and forever part of our family. Ana is the Co-Director of Medical Innovation & Advancement at PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy.
Ana is very active on social media and can be found on the following handles

18 | Danielle Anderson-Trauma-Informed Speaker & Wellness Coach
The Silent Footprints
10/29/24 • 33 min
Danielle Anderson is the wife of the famous Hip Hop Christian artist Tedashii, a mother, an accomplished public speaker, integrative wellness coach, hope giver and so much more. She is so authentic and gentle as she shares how you can incorporate integrative wellness along with God's Word to thrive in life instead of just surviving.
Her journey began after the unexpected loss of her son Chase. Her life quickly turned upside down. She passionately talks about how close she stayed to the Father. She clung to the Lord as she knew the safety in His presence, yet did not withhold her grief outbursts from Him. Danielle also had another living child she had to help grieve and made sure she kept the lines of communication open for him.
Grab tissues as you listen in. This is a good one.
Make sure you follow Danielle on her social media and find out how you can book her services. Stay tuned as she is soon to release her book for those who have lost children.

23 | Rose L. Horton- #notonmywatch
The Silent Footprints
12/17/24 • 31 min
Rose L. Horton, MSM, RNC-OB, NEA-BC, FAAN, stands as a powerful advocate for maternal health, serving multiple roles including board member of Healthy BirthDay, and president of the Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). Her frustration with the alarming rise in maternal morbidity and mortality led her to take action in 2017. Drawing from her own experiences and the painful stories of countless women who faced preventable tragedies, Rose coined the viral hashtag #NotOnMyWatch as a rallying cry for nurses and healthcare professionals everywhere. This initiative served not only as a reminder of the essential qualities of nursing—compassion, listening, respect, and evidence-based care—but also aimed to rekindle the very heart and soul of the profession. Her commitment to transforming care practices emphasizes that every woman deserves to be treated with dignity, believed in, and effectively advocated for, regardless of the circumstances.
As a loss mom herself, Rose understands the profound impact of grief and the importance of self-compassion. She reminds us that, 'Grief will last a lifetime, so make sure to give yourself some grace,' a sentiment that resonates deeply with many who navigate the complexities of loss and healing. Her work has inspired countless nurses to remember their calling and the transformational power of empathetic care. Through initiatives like #NotOnMyWatch, Rose L. Horton is not only changing the dialogue around maternal health but also reshaping the experiences of women across the healthcare system, ensuring that no woman’s voice goes unheard. Her tireless advocacy exemplifies the need for continuous improvement and mindfulness in the care provided to expectant mothers, reminding us all that behind every statistic lies a human life, deserving of respect and dignity.
Rose L. Horton can be found on her website NotOnMyWatch, her social media and here.
