I decided to relaunch my podcast and share the inspiring stories of successful entrepreneurs, freelancers, and business owners just like me, who have achieved financial independence through self-employment. My intention is to challenge and inspire listeners like yourself to take the leap and create the life and business you deserve. I have been online for almost a decade and share my experience of pivoting to self-employment after I was laid off during the pandemic. I decided to relaunch my podcast: 1. to create content more relevant to my current situation, 2. to share new skills and knowledge, 3. to revamp the format of the podcast, 3. to focus on a specific audience and 4. to tell stories of those who have retired early or achieved financial freedom. The podcast will feature interviews with successful entrepreneurs, freelancers, and business owners, as well as solo episodes from me, and advice on how to build productivity while in a corporate job. "You have to be willing to pivot. You have to be willing to adjust to the market, situation, lifestyle, and demand changes. And not for nothing, the time that we spent surviving through the pandemic really highlighted and augmented certain points in our lives that made us think twice about how we lived and how we made money and how we did business." In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. How can you create a life and business you love through self-employment? 2. What skills do you need for financial freedom and how can you gain them? 3. How can you tap into the gig economy and knowledge economy while still having a day job? Having a side hustle while maintaining a day job can be challenging, but with the right approach and strategies, it's possible to make it work. It's also important to remember that success as a self-employed individual requires being an extraordinary employee first. In this article, we'll go into further detail on these strategies and how they can help you balance your day job with your side hustle.

Strategy 1: Set Clear Boundaries

One of the most important strategies when balancing a day job with a side hustle is setting clear boundaries between the two. Here are some ways to do that:

  • Take advantage of any free time you have, such as lunch breaks, evenings, weekends, and holidays to work on your side hustle.
  • Make sure you have a designated workspace, whether it's a room in your house or a space at a local co-working facility.
  • Create a schedule that includes both your day job and side hustle tasks, so you know when you can work on each one.
Strategy 2: Prioritize and Plan Your Time Effectively

Effective time management is key when it comes to balancing a day job and a side hustle. Here are some tips:

  • Create a to-do list that includes both your day job and side hustle tasks.
  • Prioritize your tasks by importance and deadline.
  • Use a calendar or scheduling app to keep track of your schedule.
  • Set realistic goals for yourself and track your progress.
  • Stay focused on one task at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Strategy 3: Leverage Technology

Technology can be a great tool for automating, outsourcing or delegating tasks when balancing a day job and a side hustle. Here are some examples:

  • Use social media scheduling tools to automate your posts and save time.
  • Consider outsourcing tasks such as accounting, social media management, or website design.
  • Use project management tools like Trello or Asana to stay organized.
  • Use a virtual assistant to handle administrative tasks.
Strategy 4: Be Flexible

Being flexible is key when it comes to balancing a day job and a side hustle. Here are some tips:

  • Be prepared for changes in workload or unexpected events at work.
  • Adjust your schedule accordingly if something comes up.
  • Stay positive and keep your mindset focused on your goals.
Strategy 5: Create a Dedicated Workspace

Having a dedicated workspace is important when balancing a day job and a side hustle. Here are some tips:

  • Create a designated workspace that is free from distractions.
  • Use a separate computer or laptop for your side hustle work.
  • Make sure you have a comfortable chair and desk to work at.
  • Keep your workspace organized and tidy.

The journey to self-employment success can be a challenging and fulfilling one. It requires a shift in focus from oneself to the customers you serve. In this episode of the Self-Employed Success podcast, we explore the misconception that self-employment is all about you and discuss the importance of focusing on the customer to ensure business success. We also delve into the journey of self-discovery and the importance of being intentional in your actions.

Our guest, Ken Stearns, shares his inspiring story of transitioning from a corporate background to self-employment. He emphasizes the importance of continuous self-improvement and professional development. By focusing on the customer and learning from their experiences, you can create a fulfilling life and business.

As you venture into self-employment, consider the following key points for success:

1. Focus on the customer: Shift your focus from yourself to the people you serve. Engage, embrace, and tantalize your customers with your products and services to draw their curiosity and interest.

2. Be intentional in your actions: Pursue your passions and allow the process to unfold without predefined expectations. Focus on the people you serve and enjoy what you do in the present, rather than solely chasing financial success.

3. Invest in yourself: Let go of the past and focus on the present to shape your future. Embrace horizon thinking, emphasizing flexibility and adaptability in planning and goal-setting.

4. Explore interpersonal relationships, faith, and success: Reflect on the importance of acceptance, forgiveness, compassion, love, karma, and service in interpersonal relationships and within humanity. Focus on being present in your life and explore your own ideas and beliefs through reading and self-reflection.

5. View self-employment as a journey: Each step taken today is crucial for tomorrow's success. Don't give up or be intimidated by others, as everyone's journey is unique and different.

By providing insights, motivation, and resources, the Self-Employed Success podcast aims to help you navigate the ever-changing landscape of life and achieve success in your self-employment journey. Remember to focus on the customer, be intentional in your actions, invest in yourself, and embrace the journey to self-employed success.
