The Saturday Quiz

Annie Louey and Mohammed Magdi are comedians dating across continents. Annie is Chinese-Australian living in Melbourne. Mohammed is Egyptian but has lived in China for 11 years. Annie is still getting used to learning about her own Chinese culture through an Arab.

They first met on Love Island, aka Hong Kong. Annie returned to Australia with a long-distance relationship, a massive medical bill and 25 minutes of new material.

Meanwhile Mo stayed back in his Bachelor pad, crying into his bubble tea and scheming about how they could see each other again. And so, their comedy festival show was born.

This week, to celebrate the return of live theatre to the stages of Melbourne, the guests come from the cast of As You Like It which has just opened at the Melbourne Theatre Company. By her own admission, Christie Whelan Brown does not have much confidence in her general knowledge, but she is anything but dead weight on this episode. James Mackay is keen to give anything a go and has some excellent anecdotes to go along with his answers.

The questions in this episode could've been hand-picked for the guests. Paul Bongiorno has been a member of the Canberra press gallery for thirty years and Sean Kelly was an advisor to two Labor prime ministers. There are politics questions, Italian cuisine questions and questions about a media personality (who just happens to work at the same television network as Paul), so they were always going to do well.

Throw in the fact that the Saturday Paper sub-editor and writer of the quiz, Cindy MacDonald calls in to chat to Paul about his article in this week's paper during the podcast, and it's a surprise if they get any of the questions wrong!
