The RSS Podcasting Tutorials Show - How to Choose a Name for Your Podcast

How to Choose a Name for Your Podcast

The RSS Podcasting Tutorials Show

04/23/21 • 1 min

Hey everyone, Ashley here with RSS podcasting, and today I'm gonna share some advice on choosing a name for your podcast. A lot of hosts struggle with this because they don’t know where to begin.

The first step is to sit down and start brainstorming. Consider what your show is about and the keywords that best describe it. You’ll also want to think about things like SEO and keeping your title short to make it easier for your listeners to find you online.

Write everything down that comes to mind, and then look at the list you’ve compiled and see what jumps out at you the most.

If you’re still stuck, it may also help to write a brief description of your show, narrow it down to one short sentence, and then narrow it down further to just a couple of words.

If you’re still struggling after that, look at other show titles and then sit with your brainstorm sheet to see if a theme for a name emerges.

Another great idea is to ask people on social media what they think you should call it. Who knows? Your best friend’s cousin’s sister might have the perfect name for your show!

If all else fails, you could use your own name. Or if you’re hosting with someone else, use both of your names. For example, Robert Allen and John Smith could have “The Rob and John Show.” Check out the links in our description for more helpful tips for your podcast.

Thanks for tuning in!

How to Upload a Podcast to Spotify

The RSS Podcasting Tutorials Show

Hey everyone! This is Ashley with RSS.com Podcasting, and today I'm going over how to upload your podcast to Spotify.

There are over 250 million people across more than 75 countries worldwide listening to Spotify. These numbers are only continuing to grow, so, if you're not on it, you should be! Here's how. Head over to https://podcasters.spotify.com/

Go ahead and create an account if you don't already have one. As with many podcast directories, you’ll want to make sure that the email address you sign up with is the same one you used for your podcast host. Otherwise, you could get an error when you're trying to submit your podcast.

Once you've logged in simply click "Get Started."

Now you’ll add your podcast’s RSS feed, and click next. Check out the link in this episode’s description box to learn how to create your a RSS feed for your podcast if you don’t already have one.

Your next step is to verify you own the podcast that you're submitting. You’ll receive a verification code to the email address that's associated with your RSS feed.

After you’ve verified ownership, fill in the details of your podcast. This information is used to tell people who find your show what your podcast is about.

The final step before you submit your podcast is to double-check your details. If everything is accurate, click submit.

If there were no errors in submitting your show, you should see a success screen. It can take as many as a few hours to as long as a few days for your podcast to show up. Unfortunately, right now Spotify doesn't send you an email to let you know if they've actually loaded your show to their platform. In the meantime, you can click track podcast to see the status.

Until the show is live, your dashboard will continue to say processing next to your submission date. Keep checking back to see if your show appears in the directory.

Once it’s done processing, you’ll see your show is live in the catalog section of your dashboard. And that's all there is to it! 🚀

The RSS Podcasting Tutorials Show - How to Turn a Video into a Podcast

How to Turn a Video into a Podcast

The RSS Podcasting Tutorials Show

03/05/21 • 2 min

🎬 Turning your video into a podcast is one simple way to make your podcasting efforts go further -- without a lot of extra work. In this video, we'll show how easy it is to turn your video into a podcast.

The first step will be to convert your video into an mp3 using a website like Audio Converter or Kapwing. For this video, we’ll use Audio Converter.

Once at the website, click the button that says “Open Files.”

Choose your video to import, and it will be uploaded to the site.

Now select the quality level you want for your audio. We recommend using BEST. This will make the file larger, but you’ll have better audio quality to work with in the next step.

Click “CONVERT” and in moments your audio file will be ready.

Once your file has completed converting, download and save it to the folder of your choosing on your computer.

For your second step, it will likely be necessary to edit your audio. Since video is visual, some things may not make sense in an audio format. Some converter programs allow editing, or you can use a program like Audacity to clip parts from the audio, add an intro and outro, and more.

After you’re happy with how the audio sounds, the third step is to design some artwork.

You can create your artwork for free on a website like Canva or Kapwing. For this example, we’ll use Canva.

Your artwork should be square and 1400 by 1400 pixels.

For this example, we’ll use a simple stock image from Pexels.com

The artwork you choose will serve as the thumbnail that accompanies your podcast channel, so make sure it’s clear, eye-catching, and includes the name of your podcast if you want.

The fourth step is to upload your audio file and artwork to your podcasting host. A good host will generate and update your podcast feed automatically, while also providing you with a dynamic website where your podcasts can live.

The last step is to submit your RSS Feed to directories such as iTunes, Google Podcasts and Spotify. This way your podcast can be found and enjoyed by people in whatever ways they choose to listen!

And that’s all there is to it. You’ve now successfully turned your video into a podcast and can repurpose additional videos for new episodes.
