The Resilient Soul Podcast - EP: 14 Coping with Grief featuring Edy Nathan
play

11/29/21 • 30 min

Edy Nathan MA, LCSWR is an author, public speaker and licensed therapist. She is an AASECT certified sex therapist, hypnotherapist and certified EMDR practitioner with more than 20 years of experience. Edy earned degrees from New York University and Fordham University, with post-graduate training at the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy. She practices in New York City.

In her expertise as a grief therapist she interweaves her formal training as a psychotherapist with breathwork, guided imagery, ritual and storytelling. Trauma, abuse, and grief cause the soul to become imbalanced: The goal of the work is to find emotional calibration or balance to defy the depth of darkness and the grip grief often has on the psyche. The Resilient Soul Podcast - EP 7: Divorce and Starting Over with Laurie Wright
play

08/16/21 • 32 min

Divorce, Starting Over and Finding Fulfillment

Laurie Wright, also known as Not Your Average Grandma, is a certified Master NeuroCoach whose mission is to help passionless empty nesters who feel unfulfilled now that their kids are gone, discover who they really are, and in so doing, find out what brings them joy and drives them with deeper purpose so they can live out the rest of their life doing what they are meant to do.

Laurie has a corporate background in the software tech industry, with her longest stint at AOL where she spent 13 years climbing the corporate ladder. Although most would consider her rise from technical writer to Vice President in just 7 years to be the pinnacle of success, it left her empty and unfulfilled. After experiencing a couple of on-the-job panic attacks, she knew something was wrong and that she needed to change her life.

Now, after lots of research and training on this topic, she understands that her rise to the top took her further away from her soul’s purpose - the work that lights her up, brings her great joy, and that she now believes she was sent here to do. And because she believes everyone deserves to live from this lit up place, she’s dedicated her life to teaching people how to find that spark.

With her signature program, The Second Half S.P.A.R.K. School, Laurie teaches women how to discover their lost spark and build a “purpose plan” so that they will never get to the end of their life thinking “What if?” She also has a podcast called “Not Your Average Lives” where she highlights inspirational stories of midlife transformation.

What you will Hear/Learn

1:53 Laurie has an interesting story of how her Successful Coaching Business began unexpectedly and how her curious personality and eagerness to learn new things has kept it thriving.

4:34 How Laurie helps women find fulfillment by building purpose driven businesses.

5:41 Mindset that keeps moms away from finding fulfillment.

8:19 Laurie Journey of starting all over again, finding fulfillment and lessons drawn from this journey.

16:31 Laurie talks to us about her journey of finding clarity and the strategies she uses to attain clarity.

20:33 Laurie’s “AHA moments”

23:09 How Breathworks helped Laurie overcome a great fear, enabling her to serve her students better.

28:54 Laurie’s Strategy of Practicing Abundance.

Resilience Through Fostering Deeper Human Connection.

In this Episode, I’m having a great conversation with a wonderful guest, David Richman. David is a wearer of many hats; he is an Entrepreneur, an Author, a Public Speaker, an Athlete and a Philanthropist and he uses the lessons learned in his life to enrich and inspire others.

David's first book is “Winning in the Middle of the Pack” which discusses how to get more out of ourselves than we ever imagined.

David's second book “Cycle of Lives” revolves around his amazing project that aims to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and care. The idea of the project started to form when his sister was in the last few weeks of her battle with cancer.

David covered 4,700 miles, and visited and interviewed the participants of this book, which chronicles the lives of 15 people who were affected by cancer, either as patients, doctors, researchers, caregivers, or otherwise. These poignant, significant, meaningful, helpful stories cover many aspects of cancer: caregiving and research, emotional and intellectual journeys, various stages of life, and more, so that combined, these memoirs will give a complete view of the human experience as it relates to cancer.

Tune in as we explore this amazing project.

What you will Hear/Learn

9:10 How Richard was able to create emotional safety and establish connections that made people feel safe to share their stories.

14:16 Why establishing connections is appropriate as opposed to creating preconceived perceptions of what kind of emotional support people may need from us.

18:12 Find out how David’s interviewees developed resilience.
