play

11/15/21 • 42 min

What would you do if you showed up to board a flight and were unable to do so because your name was on Interpol’s Most Wanted list? That’s exactly what happened to today’s guest, Marek Zmysłowski.

Marek is a Polish-born entrepreneur and executive, focused on Online Business and Renewable Energy, passionate about Emerging Markets. He is also the author of the Best-Selling book – “Chasing Black Unicorns” – which tells the story of his time as a start up founder in Nigeria. Today’s interview covers the twists & turns that occurred when a business partner got Marek placed on Interpol’s Most Wanted list...freezing his bank accounts, blacklisting him within his industry and so much more. Instead of stepping into the victim role, he decided to fight the injustice and own his part in the wrongdoing. All of this resulted in charges being dropped, as well as a much-needed awakening for Marek.

About Amy Stanton-

With a background in traditional marketing and deep experience in marketing to and building brands for women, Amy Stanton has a unique perspective on the women's landscape, the role of femininity in personal and professional lives, and the impact that unleashing our true feminine power can have on our happiness.

Amy founded Stanton & Company (S&Co) with a passion for promoting and building positive female role models and messaging for women. Since 2006, when the company opened its doors, S&Co has built a roster of philosophy-driven brands, including exceptional athletes, lifestyle experts, and brands in the healthy, active living space.

Before founding Stanton & Company, Amy served as the first-ever chief marketing officer (CMO) for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and was the head of marketing and communications for NYC2012, New York's Olympic bid, where she developed and executed both the local and international campaigns for this first-ever endeavor. Amy started her career in account management at advertising agencies including BBDO, JWT, and BBH.

Between her leadership roles on Fortune 500 accounts in advertising, her role as the CMO at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and, most recently, as founder and CEO of an eleven-year-strong marketing and PR agency focused on building female-focused brands, Amy has deep experience in the women's space and a wide range of relationships with powerful women who have inspired her thinking about femininity and how women can be their best.

Amy recently co-authored The Feminine Revolution with Catherine Connors, challenging the idea that femininity is weak, and encouraging women to redefine and embrace their feminine qualities as sources of power.

Amy has received accolades and awards from the Sports Business Journal, Women in Sports and Events (WISE) LA, and BlogHer, and Stanton & Company has been recognized as an industry leader. She speaks about femininity, marketing and representation, women in sports, and women's leadership.

About Elaine Turso -

Elaine Turso, known as "Elaine The Brain" has been a creative, self-made, problem-solving entrepreneur since 2001. As a small business strategist and mentor, Elaine enjoys supporting other entrepreneurs with their businesses, helping them identify where their struggle is and giving them the boost in confidence they need to work through their fear and self-sabotaging behaviors. Her friends call her "Elaine The Brain" because she gets strange and intuitive "pop rocks" to help people find creative solutions to their problems.

Elaine also runs her own podcast (The Potty Mouth Pep Talk) where she provides uplifting and motivational pep talks, that sometimes use colorful sentence enhancers. As an author, she easily offends her mother with the title, as it contains the F-word and her middle fingers definitely displayed on the cover of the book.

Elaine has always had a knack for helping others, and loves to give back to her community and help others in need. She has received recognition as well as raised thousands of dollars for her community through various self-initiated projects. She recently retired from photography after 10 years of being an award winning boudoir portrait photographer.

She is a mother to Alexis and Anthony and wife to Mike and dog mom to Paisley, Chloe and her grandpuppy Jax.

Her favorite things include: Watching Friends re-runs, Spiced Chai Lattes with almond milk, Mary Poppins, Disneyland, paint and sips, and finding cool stuff to put in her bi-monthly subscription box (Potty Mouth Pep Talk box).

This is one of my all-time favorite episodes!! Do. Not. Miss. It!

The New Year is almost upon us...and so is the “new year, new you” marketing. We’re taking a fresh look at this concept, as well as goal setting with today’s guest, Tara McMullin.

Tara has recently published an incredible new book entitled: “What Works: A Comprehensive Framework to Change the Way We Approach Goal Setting.”

We discuss topics such as the:

  • Challenge that occurs when you base your identity on your accomplishments
  • Dichotomy of personal types when it comes to goal setting
  • Question of “What does growth without striving look like?”
  • Difference between “achievement orientation” vs. “practice orientation.”
  • Approach you can take going into the new year that will work for YOU
  • Mental Health Stigmas that stop us from appreciating people’s uniqueness
