On this episode of the Reboot Podcast we welcome Joe Wilding, the co-founder and CTO of Boom Supersonic, a Colorado based company focused on reviving supersonic air travel. Although Joe has experienced successes and various advancements throughout his career, he grapples with a nagging feeling that he wasn't measuring up to the other “great leaders” in his field. Introverted and a highly-visual learner, Joe always felt he was wired just a bit differently from his peers. Throughout the past decade, Joe has transitioned out of supporting roles and into higher management positions. Recently, this has triggered thoughts around authenticity in leadership and has materialized the urge to align his inner and outer self in the workplace. With support from Jerry, Joe aims to tackle the question, ”What type of leader am I?” Jerry emphasizes to Joe that there are many ways to lead, and the tendency to constantly compare ourselves to others often serves in diminishing our ability to grow into our most authentic self, inhibiting our ability to become who we’re really meant to be. Welcome to The Reunion Podcast, where we dive deep into the stories that shape us, the struggles that push us, and the path to finding belonging in a world that often leaves us feeling lost. In this episode, Jerry Colonna and Marshall Pollard, along with guests Leticia and Erika, embark on a deep dive into the power of ancestral connections and the healing that comes from rediscovering our roots. Through a series of personal anecdotes and thought-provoking conversations, they navigate the complexities of family dynamics, the desire for love and belonging, and the transformative journey toward self-actualization. Erika and Leticia unpack the depths of their pasts and uncover the stories that shape who they are. As leaders, we invite you to reflect on these questions: 1. Who am I? How do I identify? Who and what that might relate to that identity have I not seen? How did it benefit me, or my family, including my ancestors not to see or recognize such things? Which stories of my family of origin have we chosen to remember and which have we chosen to forget? 2. To whom do I belong? To whom did my parents belong? What is it that tells me I belong to my family? What does it feel like to know that I belong? Among whom of my ancestors might have been left behind or forgotten? 3. What is your work to do? How have I been complicit in and benefited from systemic othering? What would I have to give up that I love that might make me feel safe and I belong so that others might feel the same way? How might I create systemic belonging for others? Whose stories should I be listening to? Join us on this enlightening journey as we seek a grand reunion, where our stories converge, and true belonging is found. Listen in, journal, and discover the power of reuniting with the past to shape our present and future. Leave us a review on Apple Podcasts! The Reboot Podcast - #93 Standing in the Gap - with Amy Nelson & Jerry Colonna

Although the challenges women leaders face today have been well documented and highly publicized and most of us recognize that women are often forced to tackle unique and disproportionate challenges from their male counterparts, it can be hard to fully empathize with the biases with which we ourselves may not be called to face. On this week’s episode, you'll meet one female founder who generously shares her story and the singular obstacles she’s been summoned to encounter. A former corporate litigator, Amy Nelson is now the CEO and founder of the Riveter, a workspace which provides support and equal opportunities for women leaders and changemakers. Born in Seattle in 2017, The Riveter has experienced explosive expansion - with five locations being built in the first 16 months. As a result, Amy is now facing down the many hurdles that emerge during a period of rapid scaling. In this conversation with Jerry, Amy expounds on a few of the barriers she’s come up against when raising capital and what it means to take her seat as a leader. Jerry introduces Amy to Parker Palmer’s image of, “The Tragic Gap,” recognizing that Amy has been called to stand in the space between the world that is, and the world that is possible. She is carrying the burden for all female entrepreneurs to forge a future where women not only have equal opportunity but a true place of belonging as leaders, forging a system where all individuals are worthy of the freedom to actualize in the fullness of who they are. For leaders, when our aspirations and passions align, a crucible is formed from which creativity and productivity stem. At this point in our entrepreneurial journeys we might burn a little brighter, and our way forward feels undeniably palpable. Riding the tide, we may begin to feel ourselves cresting the wave and entering a place where the water becomes muddy and our paths unclear. We’ve entered the dip, and suddenly find ourselves in a quit it or stick with it moment where we must determine how we want to walk through this world. On this episode of the Reboot Podcast, Jerry is joined by friend, entrepreneur, author and speaker, Seth Godin. In this conversation, Seth and Jerry seek to tackle the dip, asking us to consider what is actually happening when it occurs, reminding us of the importance of finding our allies during this time, and how living in the tension of unknowing can actually be the catalyst for attuning our understanding to the most authentic way forward – in our companies, our relationships, and on our own personal paths. Welcome back to the Reunion Podcast, where we dive deep into the quest for belonging and explore the connection between ancestry, origin, and the desire for reunion. In this episode hosts Marshall Pollard and Jerry Colonna invite guests Grant and Darryl to share their experiences of seeking belonging in the face of division and systemic discrimination. Grant's story showcases the triumph and arrival he feels by breaking the curses of his forefathers, while living in a system designed to benefit him. Darryl, on the other hand, confronts the harsh reality of being trapped in systems that fail to protect his people and his sense of place. The episode explores the connection between place and identity, the impact of intergenerational legacies, and the profound need for belonging and safety. As you listen to this episode, consider the following questions: 1. How does the physical geography of a place impact the sense of belonging and division within a community? 2. How can stories of ancestry and origin shape one's quest for love, safety, and belonging? 3. In what ways can individuals confront systemic othering and work towards a greater reunion? 4. What responsibility do leaders have in addressing disconnection and promoting inclusivity within their organizations and communities? Join us as we navigate these important questions and strive for a world that embraces connection, understanding, and belonging. Leave us a review on Apple Podcasts!
