The Unfiltered Check-In: How Honest Conversations Are Saving Our Sanity | Ep.50
The Quiet Riot Show - Men's Mental Health Podcast
05/12/25 • 56 min
Email us at [email protected].
WANT TO HELP US? Click here. Leave a voicemail here.
Get raw, real, and unfiltered conversations in this episode. What started as a simple check-in spiraled into a much deeper conversation about emotional growth, managing chaos, and how we're learning to be more open—especially as men navigating mental health. We reflect on how being more emotionally aware has transformed our relationships, reduced tension, and helped us communicate better with the people who matter most.
But here's the thing: we’re all busy. Like overwhelmingly busy. So we ask: how do you manage everything—work, chores, relationships—and still find time for yourself? We dive into the personal expectations we place on ourselves and how those can either push us forward or quietly drag us down.
The second half of the episode unpacks the core of this show—building honest friendships, creating a space where venting is okay, and not bottling things up until it breaks you (or someone else). We share how these real convos off the mic are exactly what we bring on the mic—messy, heartfelt, and full of perspective.
We’re not here to sell you anything. We’re here because this kind of conversation saved us—and we believe it can help others too. We need your help to share this show, shape its future, and build a community that doesn’t pretend to have it all together but shows up anyway.
Let’s unwrap this shit together.

Life, Family, and Feelings - Seen Through Young Eyes | Ep.49
The Quiet Riot Show - Men's Mental Health Podcast
04/28/25 • 80 min
Email us at [email protected].
WANT TO HELP US? Click here. Leave a voicemail here. Joining us for this emotional, unforgettable episode is none other than Tommy’s son, Jakub — 10 years old at the time of the recording (but officially 11 now!).
We sat down to hear straight from a young man growing up in today’s world — what matters to him, what family means, and how he views life at this early but critical age. As the conversation unfolded, Tim threw out a few thought-provoking questions that made all of us pause — and in one unexpected moment, even brought Tommy to tears.
What followed was something we didn’t plan for: a raw, emotional release from all three of us. Through Jakub’s honest answers and Tommy’s heartfelt reactions, we uncovered powerful truths about fatherhood, friendship, emotional growth, and how important it is to keep building strong, loving bonds between fathers and sons.
This episode isn’t just about a father and a son — it’s about understanding the foundation of mental health for young men, the strength in showing emotions, and the beauty of creating lasting memories. Trust us — you’ll want to hear this.

10 Days in a Coma—The Fight to Rebuild Dave Jacobson’s Life | Ep.46
The Quiet Riot Show - Men's Mental Health Podcast
03/03/25 • 65 min
Email us at [email protected].
WANT TO HELP US? Click here. Not everyone gets a second chance at life. Dave Jacobson did—but it came at an unimaginable cost.
Like many Canadian kids, Dave grew up with dreams of playing professional hockey. He made it further than most, getting drafted and stepping into the world of pro hockey. But sometimes, the dream you chase isn’t the one meant for you. Realizing the sport wasn’t his true calling, Dave shifted gears and found a new path as an electrician.
Then, in a single moment, everything changed. A severe workplace accident—an electric shock that sent him plummeting from a ladder—left him with a traumatic brain injury. Dave spent 10 days in a coma, his brain swelling so dangerously that doctors had to remove part of his skull just to relieve the pressure. When he woke up, he couldn’t walk, talk, or do anything on his own. It was as if he had been reborn, forced to relearn life itself.
In this episode, Dave shares the mental and physical battles that followed his accident. Drawing strength from his faith, his family, and the relentless discipline he developed in hockey, he refused to accept defeat. In just three months—a miraculous recovery by medical standards—he was out of the hospital, regaining independence. But the journey wasn’t over. Twelve years later, he still faces daily challenges, from ongoing physical therapy to speech rehabilitation, as he continues to rebuild his life.
Despite the lasting effects of his injury, Dave remains committed to staying positive, trying new things, and being the best father and husband he can be. His story is one of resilience, mental toughness, and a testament to the power of never giving up—even when life knocks you down harder than you could ever imagine.
