#413 | Joshua Hood | w/ BC Sanders | Part 2
The Protectors® Podcast
03/03/23 • 26 min
Author, veteran, and former SWAT officer Joshua Hood stopped by The Protectors®. BC Sanders joined us as we dived into some deep topics, from alcohol to stress. In Part 1 of this series, we talk all things guns.
About Joshua: Author of The Treadstone Resurrection & Search and Destroy Series—Aficionado of Sharp Knives & Loud Guns. Josh decided to follow his brother into the military and joined the army after graduating with an English degree from the University of Memphis. He spent five years in the 82nd Airborne Division, becoming a team leader in the 3-504 Parachute Infantry Regiment in Iraq from 2005-2006, where he conducted combat operations supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2007-2008, Hood served as a squad leader with Afghanistan's 1-508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He put more Foot-to-Taliban-Ass and was decorated for valor in Operation Furious Pursuit. On his return to civilian life, he was a sniper team leader on a full-time SWAT team in Memphis, TN, where he was awarded the lifesaving medal for saving the life of a civilian with quick, creative, and resourceful instincts. Unfortunately, he quit SWAT and the Police Department the day his son was born, knowing he couldn't bring that "trash" home to his family. Hood now lives in Collierville, TN, as a full-time author. He is married to Amy (who's clearly out of his league!) and is frequently outsmarted by his toddler, Jake.
Joshua Hood is the author of the Search and Destroy Black Ops thriller series, Clear by Fire and Warning Order, The Treadstone Exile (2/2021), and The Treadstone Resurrection (2/2020). Learn more about Josh by going "Under the Hood" to get his insights on The Art of Writing, Good Books, Sharp Knives, and Loud Guns.

#237 | Paul Letersky | Author | Former Special Agent
The Protectors® Podcast
07/20/21 • 17 min
Paul Letersky joined The Protectors to talk about his book THE DIRECTOR: My Years Assisting J. Edgar Hoover. We also go into what a day in the life of J. Edgar Hoover was like.
The Book: Since Hoover’s death half a century ago, millions of words have been written about the man and hundreds of hours of TV dramas. But until now, there has been virtually no account from someone who, for a period of years, spent hours with the Director on a daily basis.
Paul Letersky began working for Director Hoover in 1965 and had a front-row seat to the comings-and-goings of Hoover’s personal office at the height of one of the most turbulent decades since the Civil War. The Director showcases the dedication of history’s longest serving FBI director, including:
The animosity felt by Hoover towards Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the comments made by Hoover on first hearing of Dr. King’s shooting from Letersky.
A deeply personal look at Hoover’s longtime assistant Helen Gandy, the highest paid woman at the DOJ in the 1970’s and considered to be Hoover’s most trusted confidant.
The effectiveness of the FBI’s "COINTELPRO" programs—black bag projects from 1956-1971 aimed at surveilling, infiltrating, sowing discord and discrediting American organizations.
How "COINTELPRO" targeted groups as disparate as the Ku Klux Klan and the Black Panther Party, as well as civil rights leaders like Dr. King and influential public anti-war figures like John Lennon.

#234 | Marc Cameron | NYT Best-Selling Author | Former U.S. Marshal
The Protectors® Podcast
07/13/21 • 24 min
Marc Cameron joined The Protectors to talk about his new book BONE RATTLE, his time as a U.S. Marshal, his time in Alaska, character development, and a ton of other topics.
MARC: A retired Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal, Marc Cameron spent nearly thirty years in law enforcement. His assignments have taken him from Alaska to Manhattan, Canada to Mexico and dozens of points in between. He holds a second degree black belt in Jujitsu and is a certified scuba diver and man-tracker.
BONE RATTLE: In the icy heart of Alaska, a series of gruesome murders leads Deputy US Marshal Arliss Cutter into a firestorm of searing corruption, clashing cultures, and bone-chilling fear...
In Juneau, a young Native archeologist is sent to protect the ancient burial sites uncovered by an Alaskan gold mining company. He never returns. In Anchorage, a female torso—minus head, hands, and feet—is washed ashore near a jogging trail by the airport. It is not the first. At Alaska’s Fugitive Task Force, Arliss Cutter and deputy Lola Teariki are pulled from their duties and sent to a federal court in Juneau. Instead of tracking dangerous fugitives, Cutter and Lola will be keeping track of sequestered jurors in a high-profile trial. The case involves a massive drug conspiracy with ties to a mining company, a lobbyist, and two state senators. When a prosecuting attorney is murdered—and a reporter viciously attacked—Cutter realizes they’re dealing with something much bigger, and darker, than a simple drug trial. The truth lies deep within the ancient sites and precious mines of this isolated land—and inside the cold hearts of those would kill to hide its secrets...
What’s buried in Alaska stays in Alaska.

From Chad’s Bio: Born and raised in the countryside of upstate New York, Collins moved to Los Angeles with a journalism degree in hand and began working for a boutique entertainment public relations firm.
