The Profitable Tradie Podcast - How Your Friends Impact Your Business Success
play

07/16/24 • 28 min

In 1954, Roger Bannister ran a mile in under 4 minutes.

Before him, nobody thought that was possible.

Today, more than a thousand runners have done it.

Bannister showed how far the bar could be raised, inspiring his peers to reach further.

Do your friends inspire you to take your business to new heights?

Do they stretch you?

Seeing their achievements inspires you to reach further...

Challenge you?

To be serious about your business and do the hard work to improve it...

Set an example to follow?

They’re bold... They do what they say they’re going to do... They’re constantly learning...

Or do they cut you down?

Make you feel guilty for earning good money, or taking a well-earned day off...

Hold you back?

From growing your business, increasing prices, or prioritizing more profitable work...

Make you feel bad for having ambition and drive?

They don’t really want you to have success, because it makes them feel inadequate...

The people you hang out with most have a huge impact on the success of your business.

If you’re not happy with the results you’re getting, taking a look at who you surround yourself with is an important step.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN FROM LISTENING TO TODAY’S PODCAST:

  1. HOW TO SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SUPPORT AND CHALLENGE
  2. HOW TO STOP FEELING GUILTY ABOUT YOUR SUCCESS
  3. HOW LIFESTYLE CHOICES CAN HELP YOUR BUSINESS

The Profitable Tradie Podcast - I Will Die With $0 (Here’s Why You Should Too)
play

01/09/24 • 28 min

I want to die with $0 to my name.

And so should you.

Think about your bank account and imagine how difficult your life would be if that was all you had until the day you died.

You’d probably be very shrewd with your spending.

So why don’t we do that with our time?

Right now, we have a bank account with a limited amount of time.

It’s great that we use some of that time to get more money.

But what is the point of using our valuable time to earn money that we’ll never live to use.

Now why am I telling you this?

After all, business is about making money.

But it’s also about freedom and living a better life.

And you can’t do that if your life is consumed by your business.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN FROM IMPLEMENTING TODAY’S PODCAST:

  1. Understand why freedom is just as important as money
  2. Value your time more efficiently
  3. Give you a fresh perspective of what your business goals should be
  4. Implement a Die with Zero lifestyle

But most owners don’t understand the financial implications of mistakes that require rework to be done.

The Profitable Tradie Podcast - Stress coping 101

Stress coping 101

The Profitable Tradie Podcast

play

09/02/22 • 37 min

What are you built for? The human body is a very complicated machine, with lots of moving parts, and pretty much everything serves a purpose, even stress. Stress is part of the ‘fight or flight’ response, basically your heart races, your breath quickens and muscles get ready for action. So in prehistoric times stress is what would get you away from a sabretooth tiger, but it was short term, either you escaped the savage animal, or you became its breakfast.

You’re not built to be stressed for hours, days, weeks or months. Being stressed long term can cause headaches, depression, heartburn, insomnia, weak immunity, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, stomachache, heart palpitations, heart attacks, the list goes on. You need to be able to get on top of stress whenever it should arise... because eliminating it isn’t really an option, unfortunately its just part of being a business owner.

In this episode you’ll learn about dealing with the stresses of being a business owner, along with some coping mechanisms that will help you keep a lid on it. You’ll learn how to catch yourself in a stress cycle and break out of it. There is even a book recommendation for one of the best things you can read (or listen to) for teaching yourself to deal with stress. It’s important to take care of your body, you only get one... mental health is serious, stop pushing it to the side.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN FROM IMPLEMENTING TODAYS PODCAST:

  • An understanding of how stress effects the way you work
  • A great book recommendation for dealing with stress
  • Improved physical and mental health
