Coronavirus is causing the postponement and cancellation of multiple races, both in Spartan and the race companies. We talk about the current list of races affected and ask you to be patient.

After an infection-heavy intro we talk with 7-time World Champion Lindsay Webster. Lindsay has won the Spartan World Championship back-to-back, the OCRWC World Championship 5 times, and is the only woman to ever win the Spartan US National Series, winning it every year since its inception in 2016.

Lindsay recently won the first race in the 2020 Spartan US National Series and joined us to talk about the race, her new home in Quebec, and the best ways to learn a foreign language.

Tough Mudder announced they will eliminate all cash prizes for all their race brands in 2019. This includes TMX, Tougher Mudder, Toughest Mudder, and World's Toughest Mudder.

We talked with two-time women's champion Rea Kolbl to see what she thought of the decision and if she would defend her title as women's champion at World's Toughest Mudder.

Rea WILL NOT race World's Toughest Mudder this year. She gave us her reasons and talked about what OCR races and non-OCR races she will run this year.

We also held a panel discussion with Will Hicks, Heather Bode, and Katelyn Ritter about Tough Mudder tightening the purse strings. There was agreement that this is bad for the elite side of the sport but there are possible silver linings for those that are not full-time professional athletes. They also made a few guesses about how this decision may play out over the next several months.

Be sure to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook this weekend to watch the race as it happens.

---

Ryan Woods won the 2018 title by holding off Ryan Atkins by one place in the final race of the series. One of his series wins came in the first race of the series in San Jose.

Lindsay Webster won the title in 2018 for the third consecutive year. Since Spartan introduced the series in 2016 Webster has won the series title every year.

We talk about their experiences last year, their plans for this year and who they think their greatest competition will be. (Hint: Webster is married to Wood's competition.)

Ryan Woods is a member of the 2019 Spartan Pro Team. He is sponsored by EndurElite. You can find him on Instagram at @rjwoodsy.

Lindsay Webster is sponsored by HumanN the makers of BeetElite, and VJ Shoes. You can find her on Instagram at @lindsaydawnwebster.

---

Before we talk with Ryan and Lindsay we talk about the first championship race of 2019 held in the United Arab Emirates.

There have been diagrams and charts and wordy explanations, but it's very simple. You have two options for Tahoe qualification: a) National Series or b) Regional Series. We break down the details and what they mean for you. We also answer the question: "Is there a way to run ONE RACE and qualify for Tahoe?" (Spoiler: Nope.)

The Spartan US Championship series starts this weekend and we talked with Jack Bauer about what we can expect this year.

Be sure to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook this weekend to watch the race as it happens.

Jack says to expect more dominance from the three-man combo of Ryan Woods, Ryan Atkins, and Robert Killian and look for Mark Batres to join those men in the upper group of male athletes.

On the women's side he says to expect three new women to join the top five of 2018, but still plan on Lindsay Webster showing why she is the three-time winner of the US Championship Series.

The OCR Report - Spartan Big Bear Recap with Jack Bauer
play

05/24/19 • 42 min

Johnny Luna-Lima had the race of his life this weekend at Spartan Big Bear. He beat Ryan Atkins and the field for his first win of the 2019 Spartan US Series Championship and his first podium at a US Spartan Race ever.

With his second-place finish Ryan Atkins has all but guaranteed he will win the 2019 Spartan US Championship when the final points are totaled after the upcoming final race in the series.

On the women's side Lindsay Webster held off Rea Kolbl and Nicole Mericle for the win and moved into sole possession of first-place in the US series. Lindsay Webster and Nicole Mericle have won every race in the 2019 US Series Championship.

With her third-place finish Nicole Mericle finds herself 24 points behind Lindsay Webster. Although she is technically behind Webster, due to the point structure of the US Series, she will be able to pass Webster in Utah for the series win as long as she does two things: 1) Finish no worse than 4th. 2) Finish ahead of Webster

To state it simply: If Nicole Mericle can beat Lindsay Webster in Utah, she will become the first woman not named Lindsay Webster to win the Spartan US Championship Series. Lindsay Webster has won the series every year since it's inception in 2016. If Lindsay Webster beats Nicole Mericle in Utah she will defend her title and become the four-time defending champion of the Spartan US Championship Series.

The OCR Report - Spartan Big Bear Preview with Jack Bauer
play

05/16/19 • 63 min

This weekend is the fourth of the five races in the Spartan US Championship Series. Jack Bauer and Will Hicks discuss the standings and who they expect to win the race this weekend in Big Bear.

Three men have risen to the top of the field in the series points race. Ryan Atkins, Ryan Kempson, and Ryan Kent all need to win Big Bear or at least place high to remain in the hunt.

On the women's side it has become a two-person race. Lindsay Webster and Nicole Mericle have separated themselves from the field and are both positioned to take the series win with two more strong races. However, the Big Bear venue seems to be tailor-made to fit the strengths of Rea Kolbl.

This will be a great weekend of racing in Big Bear. Be sure to follow @theOCRreport on Instagram to follow the results live.
