This week we fell down a rabbit hole that we never came back from. Come on in and enjoy us doing a commentary on a project we did many years ago. Fair warning, there is terrible singing that will be painful to your ears. Proceed with joyous caution and join us on a journey into the past. *Editors note- Something that was lost throughout the original production was the message Matt was trying to send to his partners and the audience. It was poorly stated, but it is present nonetheless. He struggled then and struggles now with control of his tone, volume and other non-verbal communications. Just because he sounds angry doesn't mean it's at you. Anger, frustration, confusion, projection, those are all emotions and actions that can feel good, can happen without our conscious thought, and can be hard to let go of. Sometimes all at once too. Be patient with each other. Give your friends the space to be themselves, but don't be afraid of "hurting them, upsetting them, making things harder". If there are behaviors that are upsetting, disruptive, or otherwise harmful to you or your group, SPEAK UP. Do it in a calm manner, with constructive terms, and choose your moments appropriately. Choose a moment of neutral energy or of predetermined safe spaceness. Then SPEAK. Nothing in life can change if we fail to speak to each other during all times and moments. No progress can be made if we don't take reasonable, calculated risks. This show was written a year before the show ended the first time. The failure was in not listening to the message of the show and allowing those things to fester. It was a failure by not taking risks and speaking to one another. That is the message from this project. Love each other truly and if you do, SPEAK.*
