Melissa retired from a lengthy corporate career in 2016 to pursue her third act and dream of becoming a filmmaker. Melissa began her early career in Legal Services pursuing compliance and advocacy for disabled children. For 22 years, Melissa worked throughout the United States to bring services to individuals and the disability insurance marketplace.

At age, 65 Melissa retired from her career and took a giant leap. After spending a day on the set, behind the camera with a famous Director, Melissa made the decision that changed her life.

Pursuing her dream of becoming a filmmaker became a reality in 2018 when Melissa completed her first film, Beyond Sixty Project, a feature length documentary about women over the age of 60. Melissa’s film was accepted by and screened at 8 film festivals throughout the US and Canada, winning awards and confirming that it is truly never too late to learn something new.

Here are her key takeaways:

  1. More than 50% of the time people ignore signs or push them away. When we are young we are taught fantasy vs reality, but I think that is a mistake - we should be open to everything.
  2. Even if it's scary, unless we allow ourselves to try something new, do something that you haven't done before, that probably scares you a little bit, you might miss something that you want to try something new.
  3. I encourage people to talk to other people, expand your group, find out why you might not take that next step, and when you figure out why you're probably going to say - why did i allow that to hold me back?
  4. I've had failures that I've felt terrible about, but that I learned from. So every time I failed I had this new learning bucket.
  5. When

Enjoy this moving podcast episode, as you learn about the incredible reinvention story of Dr. Zhu Shen, from tragedy to inspiration. She shares her vulnerable story about how she "chose to bare my soul to reconnect with my son, reclaim my buried artistic prowess, transforming from a ‘Tiger Mom’ to a ‘Zen Mom’.”

Dr. Shen is an award-winning writer, film producer, director working on her first personal documentary feature, JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES , "an ode to the bond between mother and son, told with radical vulnerability and honesty," and “a deeply moving look into the love that binds a family."

She is best known for producing a 2019 Oscar-qualified animated short, CHANGYOU'S JOURNEY, written & directed by her teenage son Perry S. Chen, in honor of her late husband, Dr. Changyou Chen, a Stanford-trained biotech founder & cancer researcher who lost his life to cancer itself.

Here are her key takeaways:

  1. You're only limited by your own imagination.
  2. I'm gutsy and I'm not afraid. The fearlessness empowered me to think about possibilities in life. Ask people what you want! 80% of the time people say yes to me - because I thought of asking!
  3. What I've learned is that there are times when we don't even know the inner strength that we have within us, when something tragic or devastating happens to us in our lives.
  4. When tragedy or setbacks happen in your life, you can view it as an opportunity and a test of your character.
  5. Connect with like-minded people. You can start small - you don’t' have to quit your job immediately when you're realizing that what you're doing is not what you want to do. You can start learning about the things that you may have interest in from your younger days.
  6. Start off with curiosity, and connect with people who are doing the things that you are curious about. Do something small and you will find out if its something you would truly want to do.

Here are her key takeaways:

  1. If you know who you are, what you stand for and where you're going, you develop clarity, which leads to courage which helps you take the steps to moving through the fear.
  2. Visualization helps you imagine what your future self looks like - how would you feel when you are in that life? When you can see that picture, and feel those feeling over and over again, today, as if it is real today, it magnetizes it towards you faster.
  3. A lot of us are taught that if we see something then we'll believe it, but how it really works is if you believe it first then you will see it
  4. What is the one thing I can do such that by doing it, everything else becomes unnecessary?
  5. Gratitude is a choice. How do you want to see life? Gratitude is at the highest energetic level you can reach.
  6. You can look for things to complain and criticize, and you can look for things to be grateful for - where do you want to live,? What energy do you want to live in
  7. How does it feel to live in anger or frustration, versus living in a place of gratitude? Look at things through a different lens.
  8. Finding time everyday to get quiet and get in touch with your inner voice is so important. What does your inner guide say? Meditation helps you do that. All answers lie within.
  9. What does success mean to you?
  10. The more we can raise our own vibration, the more the vibration of the entire world ge

Enjoy this mini podcast episode where Kavita shares her thoughts on the power of positive thinking. Thoughts become things. If every thought is like a raindrop which collects and flows into a stream, which then collects momentum and now runs into the river, pushing forward, pushing forward, finally releasing into the ocean - full of possibilities. If we resist that drop of water it won’t flow. Even the thought of resisting that drop of water will stop it from dripping.

Thoughts become things, and if the thoughts we think allow the positive flow of energy forward - it feels so good. We don’t need to know exactly where that drop of water or thought will end up or how it will manifest, but we have to have faith that without obstruction - it will naturally flow to where it should.

Be open to the possibilities and receive the signs everywhere. Think of filling your own stream of water with ease. Think of how that stream moves forward, builds momentum, until finally it bursts into the vast ocean of possibilities. It is fuelled by momentum - which are your positive thoughts. Your thoughts - every one of them - become things - choose those thoughts which allow that steady stream of water to move forward with ease.

What positive thoughts will you think of today?

Often, we have a wish or desire that something manifests in the future which we really, really want. We can feel it in our bones. However, it may not appear as we hope it does. Why does that happen? It’s not because it never will. If our inner being really knows that thing is available to us, it will happen. It’s about letting go and thinking positively - and one way or another that thing will manifest itself.

Many people would say - you can’t just think positive thoughts and things will just happen - and that is true. You have to also be in tune to what’s around you - what things come your way everyday - and pay attention to them. We must include positive action in addition to our positive thoughts. Notice things that come your way - Are they contributing to that positive flow of energy or detracting from it?

Choose positive things and people that attract positivity into your life. It's difficult to always have positive thoughts because of course we are dealing with everyday life’s demands. If you can’t - it’s ok - - be kind to yourself. If negative pressures and stress builds up - just let it go. Take a rest and don't beat yourself up. I often talk about P

Be inspired as Kavita, founder of Power Purpose Play speaks from the heart about her thoughts surrounding vulnerability, and how, as Brene Brown describes, “Vulnerability is basically uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure.”
We all experience some form of vulnerability at different times in our life. The key is to try to detach yourself from the consequence of your actions, don't be so concerned with external validation, and try and let go of that Gremlin that tells you, "I'm not good enough".
There is catabolic energy or a destructive tearing down force, which is often associated with stress. There there is anabolic energy which is a constructive, building up force. With this type of energy, its easier to focus on solutions, tap into creativity and experience a more complete and conscious view of situations.

The less judgement and fear people have about themselves and situations, the more anabolic energy they can access. So when you judge yourself, worry about what other people think, and strive for perfection, you are operating at catabolic energy levels. Versus when you are free from trying to be perfect, bring out what is inside of you without fear of judgement or without attaching yourself to the outcome of your actions, you operate in an anabolic energy state.

Kavita wants you to access those high anabolic energy states so you can be your most creative, excited, brilliant and beautiful self.

Be vulnerable, take chances, don’t worry so much about how many followers you have, how much you are going to make, what will people think, how you look, how you sound, being perfectly perfect.

Be yourself and figure out what it is you really want in your life moving forward.

Enjoy this colorful conversation with Patti Pokorchuk. Her positive spirit, no-can-do attitude towards living a life on the edge is both entertaining and inspirational.

Patti was NOT a born sales professional. She was the shyest female tech pioneer, proving that ANYONE can learn how to sell, AND love it too. Patti now teaches Entrepreneurial Sales at Ryerson University, in Toronto Canada.

A serial entrepreneur since 1992, she helped co-found and run a software business, scaling to multiple 7-figures in sales before opening up her own hobby farm and garden center, despite not knowing anything about farming!

At the age of 25, she decided to start living a life with no regrets, turned her back on a promising career at IBM, and took on a one-way ticket to Europe for a year..... which ended up being 9 years. Her adventures as a serial entrepreneur and living a life of experiences are in her book The Accidental Farmer.

Here are her key takeaways:

  1. When you fast forward to 90 or 95 and are sitting on your rocking chair - your regrets at that age are your dreams for today, and it doesn't matter what age
  2. If you're not living on the edge a bit, you're not living. If something you do doesn't scare you a bit, then you're not growing
  3. Once you make a huge life decision, the next one is a lot easier.
  4. When your happy outside matches your happy inside that is true happiness
  5. Love yourself first and everything flows. What anyone else thinks of me is none of my business, what I think of myself is the #1
  6. I encourage people who have been through trauma to get professional help. Never give up to get to a place of happiness and peace - that's the most important part.
  7. Stop finding reasons not to do something and just go do it. Don't overanalyze. Be a bit spontaneous because you regret what you don't do.
  8. Write down 5 things you are grateful for every

Isabelle Fish is a crafts and travel insider and the founder of Rue Pigalle. She curates and leads women-only trips for intimate groups of art, crafts and culture lovers who wish to expand their worldview, network and knowledge in a purposeful yet fun way. Born and raised in France, Isabelle studied law and practiced in several countries before moving to Toronto and founding her eponymous boutique, which operated in Toronto’s cultural hubs.

Wanting to go one step further in connecting her clients to designers, in 2016 Isabelle shuttered her bricks and mortar location to launch the travel arm of Rue Pigalle, offering an insider’s view into cities such as Paris, London and New York through the lens of art, jewelry and design. 3) Open up your calendar and look at your week and commitments - look at each and feel in your body what your reaction is. It’s a clue to what you love to do.
