The Midlife Connection for WMN - Discover Emotional Alchemy

Discover Emotional Alchemy

As we grow older, we become more skilled in hiding our emotions, thinking that suppressing the flow of energy in our body and burying the feelings can help us live the best life. But the truth is, we need to process and convert emotions to rediscover our true selves.

Brittany Bannerman is a licensed and certified counselor, hypnotherapist, and emotional alchemist. Her personal emotional health experience drew her to discover a new career level and transform her life with clarity, courage, and emotional safety within her soul. Brittany is now passionate about educating and supporting women in processing their emotions and cultivating a safe space with emotional alchemy.

Today, Hillary and Brittany talk about the emotional health of women. They discuss the way people medicalize women’s emotions and how emotional alchemy can help process suppressed emotions and clear them out to make space for our true selves. She will guide us in finding our best selves!

Brittany is a professional and licensed counselor as well as trained in hypnosis. She is a wealth of information and breaks barriers of both assumptions and preconceptions while nurturing our entire experience of all emotions so we can move towards living as our true and whole selves.

As a certified Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist (C.Hyp), this process allows for the exploration and processing of deep seated patterns and trauma in order to facilitate deeper, lasting change.

Brittany is passionate about offering support and integration for those who have experienced spiritual emergencies and exceptional human experiences (awakening experiences, mystical and transcendent experiences, near-death experiences, and post-psychedelic experiences).

She has extensively lived with chronic illness and pain (i.e., endometriosis & adenomyosis), which has inspired her to walk others through similar journeys.

Take aways from the talk:

We define alchemy, differentiate feelings from emotions

Women's Emotional Health is often dismissed.

When we clear out and make space for the negative/bad emotions fear, sadness, grief, anger, shame, and disgust - we can then feel more joy, contentment, surprise, and ecstasy.

We can move from emotionally reactive to responsive.

Therapists listen with and provide clarity, courage, compassion, curiosity, and non-judgment.

The Midlife Connection for WMN - 105. Are you Over It? How to Best Release Emotions
play

04/02/24 • 9 min

Ep 105 Are you over it? How do you know?

This solocast gets a little personal as I share my perspective on “Deal with it,” “Get Over it,” and Suck it up, buttercup.” These are the common phrases we hear or tell ourselves and it made me wonder, is this a good thing?

When Bessel van der Kolk wrote The Body Keeps the Score, the research shows that our body and cells hold onto deep emotional wounds. But, far too often, we stuff it all down. What happens then? Illness, disease, and pain - all the ways our body communicates with us.

Recently, I experienced a DEEP emotional (Somato-Emotional, Body, Mind) release with a trusted Craniosacral Therapist from the Upledger Institute. This is a therapy modality of soft-tissue release that I have also practiced for almost 20 years.

Be sure to ask your therapist when they last sought a treatment session. A skilled therapist will tell you that they are also committed to receiving treatments too. The giver needs to also release and re-balance themselves.

What are you holding onto and is it serving your body, mind, and life?

Is it better to get over it, or to shift into feeling and processing the emotion?
