Oh, Vanderawlt. Perhaps one of my favorite lesser villains I came up with. Who doesn’t like pirates? His “ridiculously large hat” was inspired by a similar hat that Orlando Bloom wears at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Next Time on The Magic of Eyri (06.02.10): “Pirates!” – Our heroes have a run-in with the scourge of the Ralk Sea, Vanderawlt the pirate.
Ramblings:
We get to know Alexander the Small a bit better in this episode. He is, of course, named after Alexander the Great, and a friend of mine named Alex (who wasn’t small, but very skinny). His crew, Julius the albatross and Hector the Penguin are named after Julius Caesar and Hector of Troy. I was partially inspired by an article I read once about the Nine Worthies.
With the audio versions of Julius and Hector, decided to try and do a “Bones and Spock” approach to the voices. We’ll see how it goes.
The joke behind the Pixie People surrounding Uncle Shameless and saying “Hi!” over and over, is a poke at Navi ...

Ramblings:
I’m really glad I changed how I recorded and edited episodes. Every since I decided to record the episodes all the way through, instead of recording in chunks by character, it has sped up the process. It has also sped up editing, which takes the most amount of time.
