Ep 34: You've Got to Be Able To Tell Your Story Well
The Love Monday Podcast
06/19/23 • 23 min
What’s your story? What are all the lessons you’ve learned and the experiences you’ve had that have brought you to where you are?
It’s time to tell your story. It’s a compelling one. And you are somebody that people want to get to know. The only thing keeping them from getting to know you, is you.
Know Your Narrative:
- It’s critical to have a clear and compelling narrative. What is your story and what does it teach others about you?
- When you understand your personal story, where you came from what you learned and why you are who you are today, then you can represent yourself well in job interviews and networking opportunities.
- So how do we do this? We have to start looking in the rearview mirror. We have to start buidling our story and a good place to start is with your Linkedin profile.
Highlight Relevant Accomplishments:
- List every job you’ve had since the beginning of time, but don’t list bullets of the tasks you did. Just list the jobs
- Next, go back to the first job you ever had. Think of all the experiences you had in that job and write your best story from that job and the lesson you learned from it that you still use today. These should be stories with examples of personal growth.
- If you can quantify any of this with facts figures or other statistics, then add those into your stories. Don’t go overboard, just a big headline type statistic that really wow’s people and underscores you story.
Connect Emotionally:
- You need to connect emotionally with who you are. Make these good stories. Stories you want to tell and would want to hear them yourself.
- use vivid and relatable anecdotes, incorporating personal challenges and triumphs, and conveying passion and enthusiasm.
- Consider the emotions they want to evoke in their audience and tailor their storytelling accordingly.
Craft a Compelling Structure:
- It’s important to keep the story concise, engaging, and relevant to what you learned and how you use that lesson now.
- Use a hook, building tension, and make it memorable.
Practice and Refine:
- Now that you have it in Linkedin, go back an read it.
- Is it conversational? If not, go back and make in conversational
- Practice reading it outloud to establish this. If ANYTHING is written in a way that you wouldn’t say it, change it so that it is.

The Love Monday Podcast
04/04/24 • 24 min
In this episode, we consider Bridge #3 of the 7 Bridges of a Solid Relationship - A Safe Haven & Secure Base. This is a two-part bonus episode covering the concept of a safe haven in the first part.
A safe haven in relationships refers to an environment or dynamic where both partners feel emotionally secure, supported, and valued. It's a space where individuals can express their thoughts, feelings, and vulnerabilities without fear of judgment, ridicule, or abandonment. In a safe haven, there's trust, empathy, and open communication, allowing for genuine connection and intimacy to flourish. It's about being able to rely on each other during times of stress, conflict, or uncertainty, knowing that you have each other's backs and can work through challenges together. Ultimately, a safe haven fosters a sense of belonging and acceptance within the relationship, creating a foundation for growth, happiness, and mutual fulfillment.
