Each episode comes about by God's leading and connecting us to certain people in just the perfect time. We are thrilled that we are able to share with you one such connection, Family Dr. Melanie Orange. We truly believe her personal story and experiences will have an impact in other's lives and literally save lives! This is real stuff in practice here, not theories or speculation. Please SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE YOU KNOW WITH DIABETES this could be a catalyst for major lifestyle change! Dr. Melanie Orange shares with us about how roughly a year ago she was blown away when she stumbled upon classes and research of how WFPBD (Whole Food Plant Based Diet) and lifestyle changes is impacting health. She had never heard of these studies previously but as a Type 1 Diabetic she felt she had to immediately start applying these changes into her personal life. These changes can be a shock to many who have heard the traditional recommended diet of a diabetic should be low carbs.... but she explains why that's not actually the best diet direction and the Whole Food Plant Based Diet when low fat and removing the animal protein is beneficial. She tells of her own personal journey into the lifestyle changes and some tools and resources she found to help her make the transition. BUT HERE"S the amazing part.... She found not only in her personal life but her patient's as well, that these changes can be HEALING - medicines reduced, improved health and energy. She was so moved by these results she started presenting lectures at her local church and is putting together programs to help others get access to these resources and studies AND help provide them with practical tools to implement in their own lives. We pray this blesses you and your loved ones! PLEASE SHARE! We want to hear from you. Ep 07 - Why Adventist Education Matters - Interview with Principal Peter Cousins

Education for our children is very important. We often as parents feel the weight of how certain decisions will affect our children's future.... education is usually one of those decisions. As a society we are taught that our performance in school will make or break us in the "real world". However, as we discuss with Peter, the Adventist Education system puts a different priority over test scores.

We are grateful for the chance to sit down with the Principal of Tri-City Christian Academy to talk over the importance of Adventist Education. The historic mission really brings to the forefront a reminder that we are to be preparing for the Lord's Return. That especially makes the decision of where your children spend about 8 hours, 5 days a week and with what influences.

Peter has such a rare perspective as he not only attended both public and Adventist schools but he also was an educator in both settings. That perspective enriches his passion to develop the spirit, mind and body for Christ of each of his students.

We were blessed by this episode and we hope you will be as too! We want to hear about your thoughts - comment! SUBSCRIBE, SHARE, RATE AND REVIEW!

Welcome back to the Living Remnant podcast. This week we sit down and talk about our recent trip to SC to hear Prof Walter Veith speak in person. It was a great experience, but a rare opportunity in this part of the world. We discuss why, and how his lectures played a role in my testimony and my friend Justin Sheffield's testimony who is joining me in the studio this evening for this talk. This episode is very informal, but it's a topic that has been so influential in our journey. Hope you enjoy. Please get connected with us. www.livingremnant.com and www.facebook.com/livingremnant

Encouraging Others by Example

This week we get the chance to sit down and chat on Father's Day! So to all you Dads out there, both by blood, adoptions and being a step parent Happy Father's Day!

This week we take a break form the normal format and paint a picture for the environment we hope to cultivate in the Living Remnant Community.

As a Christian one of most impactful ways we can witness is through the Christ-like example we set in how we live and treat others. This week we challenge you to be an encouragement to those around you both in and outside of the LR community. We also talk about what's coming up with Living Remnant.

Karie Sheffield: Becoming an Adventist & Being a Light to Your Children.

Being baptized into the church is a wonderful blessing but that doesn't mean there aren't struggles that it comes with as well. This week we hear from two extraordinary women who share their personal stories of converting to Adventistism and renewing their relationship with God, while having teenage sons still in the home who don't believe. You'll hear about their experiences and challenges during these major life changes. Ultimately, they share it comes down to keeping faith, the power of a mother's prayers and the importance of leading by example.

We are joined in the Living Remnant studio by Justin and Karie Sheffield, our dear friends, who also belong to the same SDA church as us here in Kernersville. Karie opens up about how becoming an Adventist affected her lifestyle and the reaction she received from her family. Her and Justin focused on being an example throughout her son's teen years and continue to see the seeds being watered with their prayers.

Our own founder Nicki also talks about having a now 17 year old in the house that goes back and forth in a duel family situation. There are added challenges to having a split family that doesn't support the same Christian values.

We hope this episode will encourage others going through similar situations and be motivated to turn their worry for their children over to the Lord in prayer.

Ep002 Nicki’s Story

At the very core, Living Remnant is about stories, personal stories, struggles, triumphs and the lessons learned along the way. In this episode we share the story at the very core of Living Remnant, Nicki’s personal story. Nicki Williams, 39, is a mother of 4 and the Founder of Living Remnant. She recently stepped away from the corporate world to be a full time stay at home mom. In this episode, she shares her spiritual journey from being raised Pentecostal to her recent Seventh Day Adventist conversion.

She opens up about the experiences that truly led to the start of Living Remnant, those of being a mom. She tells how she became a mother to 3 foster children whom she adopted but then years later at the age of 38 was pregnant for the first time. That pregnancy experience led her to navigate the struggles of a natural pregnancy and childbirth in a world dominated by medical intervention. This sparked a desire to use her knowledge to benefit her family, and fill a need for better information and a better support system between like minded believers. You won’t want to miss this touching story about the woman behind the inspiration.

Ep001 What is Living Remnant

What does Living Remnant mean?

It’s a double meaning. Living Remnant refers to a group of people that desires to follow God’s teaching in the Bible and be a part of his remaining flock. It also is a way of life, a fully enriched life based on those Biblical principles. Life at it’s very best.

Who is Living Remnant? Nicki and I are a Seventh Day Adventist family, a family like many others searching for the best for those we love. We have 4 beautiful kids from baby to 17 that keep us on our toes. Our personal quest for better information, better guidance and a shared perspective has lead us to some amazing information, and caused us to yearn to connect with others like us.

Whether it’s healthy eating, education, parenting, natural medicine, exercise or any other topic that helps to support and build your family’s quality of life we are committed to finding and bringing it to you. More than information though, we want to empower others, to make a tangible difference in their every day lives.

Come listen to a little back story of the journey that brought us here and all the exciting things that are in store moving forward. Welcome to the Living Remnant Podcast.

The podcast is only the beginning.

Ep003 Brad eats lots of protein... Brad’s story

As the host of the Living Remnant Podcast, Brad is co-founder of the site and husband to Nicki. If you haven’t listened to episode 2 yet be sure to because she shares some of her background story, but this one is all about Brad!

Brad, 32, is a multi-generation Adventist. In this episode he shares his relationship with food. That journey started with eating that was intertwined with his faith as raised a vegetarian Adventist. However, as he became a teenager he began to experiment eating meat to fit in. He also opens up about how his love of working out and bodybuilding took him on a path to consuming huge amounts of protein and meat at a high cost to his health. Nicki gets him to share how opening his mind to concepts he learned as a youth plus some shocking discoveries about the condition of food today has caused a radical change and a major shift towards plant based eating.

Also in this episode he touches on some of his spiritual journey. He didn’t realize till an adult how much being raised Adventist shaped his perspective. After losing his faith as a young adult it wasn’t until he met his now wife that he felt a calling to restudy The Word and renew his relationship with God. As if that wasn’t enough, he sheds a little light on how the birth of his first son has lead to this point of creating a community to help others, the start of Living Remnant.
