Episode #171 - Creative Process: American Tall Tales
The Letters Page
03/30/21 • 106 min
I promise that there will be at least one coonskin cap in this episode.
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:46:46
Our timing was off! At the start of the episode, we claimed that the Kickstarter was already live, but we're backwards: the Kickstarter goes live one hour after this episode starts. So, if you started listening to this episode the moment it came out, you'd want to pause halfway through to go check out that Kickstarter! We'll add a link to the Kickstarter to the show notes below when it goes live.
Adam and I have been looking forward to digging into these tales for a while, so we went into this one with a list of people we wanted to talk about, but not a lot of planning. On purpose! We wanted this creative process to be pretty transparent on the "process" side of things.
Ended up with at least a couple very solid character ideas out of this, plus a slew of stories, especially from the earlier ages of Sentinel Comics.
We're on the cusp of a big month here. Lots of fun episodes coming up, AND there's that Kickstarter! Speaking of which, this link will go to the Kickstarter campaign once it's live!
Until next time, Sentinels!

Episode 12 - NightMist
The Letters Page
04/04/17 • 78 min
Time to talk about NightMist! Lots of big story stuff here.
Before the show even properly starts, Christopher jumps in to apologize for not posting an Interlude last week. We recorded it! It was really great. And then, the files got eaten by the internet, somehow. We have new plans in place to keep that from happening in the future (we're glad that we lost an Interlude and not an entire Episode), but we'll just have to re-record all that stuff this Friday after we record the GloomWeaver episode. Sorry about that! We're pretty annoyed about it, but what can be done? Just gotta move on.
Also! A few episodes ago we mentioned that a Letters Page Bingo type thing could be fun. Lo and behold, it has happened! Awesome Letters Page listener Kyle Grossman has created THIRTY different Letters Page Bingo cards, and you can find them all here!
Now, onto the episode itself!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 78:02
Before going on to introducing Faye Diamond, we first talk about her father Thomas, and before that, his father Joe Diamond. (As we discuss in the beginning of the Q&A portion, yes, that Joe Diamond from the game Arkham Horror crosses over with Faye Diamond from Sentinel Comics, due to a creation connection.)
Adam and Christopher get into sound effects and weird voices during this episode.
Around the 32 minute mark, we talk about NightMist during the Vengeance event, and how she gets shot with a regression dart and loses her powers. That's pictured in Baron Blade's Vengeance deck.
So, that happened. But it doesn't last! In a couple of ways, actually.
Around 43:00, we talk about NightMist encountering and losing to Progeny. This story is told during the OblivAeon lead-up ARG. And the next story about NightMist and The Harpy is also told during that ARG.
And that is the end of the NightMist story.

Episode #270 - Writers' Room: Freedom Five #513
The Letters Page
12/12/23 • 78 min
All new, all different, all... what?!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:18:11
An alternate Freedom Five line-up, in the 90s? Gotta be a blatant but misguided marketing stunt, right? Correct. We get into it! And tell some strange stories! And cover a number of issues! And even answer questions!
If you're a Letters Page Patreon Person, join us this Friday for a LIVE Editor's Note! Otherwise, it'll be out in audio for next week! See you then!

Episode #303 - Writers' Room: Tome of the Bizarre Vol. 3 #227
The Letters Page
12/10/24 • 70 min
Necrosis is gross! Can Akash'Thriya do anthing about it?!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:10:34
The shortest episode we've recorded in a long time! But not because we short-change the story or anything; it just turned out that way.
This coming Friday is our last show of 2024! Come join us for an end-of-year Editor's Note! Everyone on our Patreon can watch, and Contributors can join in the live chat. We hope to see you there!

News-Sode!
The Letters Page
01/02/25 • 6 min
Welcome to 2025, everyone!
Did you think you would get a mini-sode on Tuesday, even after we expressly told you we would NOT be posting such a thing?
Well, so did we! Unfortunately, The Fates had other plans, and Trevor was laid low by the throat of strep! Thus, you get this lil snippet a couple days later. But it still counts! Instead of a very end of 2024 mini-sode, enjoy this very beginning of 2025 mini-sode!
And even while sick, Trevor managed to outdo himself on the audio on this one. Wild. That guy. He's gotta take a break at some point! That's what we want!
Anyway, we shall get back to normal episodes next week. Until then, keep running. We'll catch you... WE'LL CATCH YOU!

Extrasode #7 - Casting the Voices of Sentinel Comics
The Letters Page
10/18/18 • 98 min
Who sounds like whom?
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:39:09
The final Extrasode! Going out with a bang! This is a pretty interesting look at how we think about a lot of our characters. But, starting next month, no more Extrasodes. The time of the Extrasode has come to an end. More on that topic in next week's Editor's Note. (Which is being recorded live today at 11 AM Central - anyone on our Patreon can watch that live recording!)
We go through a bunch of casting for well over an hour (with unexpected help from the Irreplaceable Taffyman), and then we get to a few questions starting around an hour and 23 minutes in.

Episode 18 - Unity
The Letters Page
05/16/17 • 68 min
It everyone's favorite robot builder: Unity!
Show Notes:
Run Time: 68:10
First thing, right off the bat, we talk about a survey. This is a link to that survey! Please do take a moment to fill it out, as it will help us grow and improve The Letters Page.
Then, we're on to talk about television! Because that's what this show is about!
Adam requested just after 12 minutes into the podcast that I put his address in the show notes. No one tell him that I'm not doing that. Just trust me; it's for the best.
We talk about Unity's parents' history a bit, and how her mom was injured during the Yom Kippur War.
At about twenty minutes in, we quickly give away that during the OblivAeon event, Unity builds a massive T. Rex bot. It's pretty dang cool.
And then! We go right to questions! Flying in the face of tradition! What is even happening?!
Lots of great info in today's Q&A segment. We're getting more and more free with information. Which is good!
Just after the 28 minute mark, we go into a bit of Unity's naming guidelines.
In a question we read around 32:45, we reveal the history of a couple minor figures in Sentinels lore, and even some of their story that is yet to be seen in the Multiverse!
As promised, here is a link to the OblivAeon lead-up ARG. If you haven't gone through it before, I highly recommend it. Very cool things happened there.
Just after the 44 minute mark, we read another fantastic limerick from Arcanist Lupus. The question in that limerick leads to us revealing who it was that captures Unity and kept her in a glass case far from all metal. So many reveals!
We even spill the beans a bit about her future relationships! She's dating someone? And joining some other team? (We get to that part in the Future segment.) But who? You'll just have to listen to the episode to find out!
Once we get to the Future segment, hold on to your hats for some time-traveling information. Not information about someone doing time-traveling or how time travel works. Nope. Information that has come back in time to us from the future! Bizarre!
Thanks for listening! So many exciting things on the horizon! Also, don't forget to fill out our demographics survey. Thank you!

Episode 83 - OblivAeon, part 1
The Letters Page
09/18/18 • 135 min
It's officially the beginning of the end.
Show Notes
Run Time: 2:16:09
We jump right into the story, not wasting too much time messing around as we often do. And! You get to hear hints of some new music! What could this music be? Only time will tell.
Initially, we go through snapshots of various events that lead up to OblivAeon. But, as we get deeper into the OblivAeon story, we zoom in more and more.
That said, it's half an hour into the episode before OblivAeon finally reaches Earth. And by that point, there have already been two major character deaths. Yikes!
Just past an hour and 51 minutes in, we get to some of your OblivAeon questions. More coming next week!
Upcoming cool event: on Thursday morning of this very week, we'll be doing a live stream for all of our Patreon supporters! We're releasing another "Create Something Live" episode in early October, and we're recording it on Thursday, September 20th, at 11 AM Central time. Only the Contributor level supporters will be in the chat, but the video will be available to everyone on the Letters Page Patreon.
Also, this morning, we're launching a Kickstarter for the great game Homebrewers. Go check it out. It's genuinely a blast.
Look forward to the second part of the OblivAeon story next week!

12/24/19 • 80 min
It's Christmas Eve! Let's talk about an avenging angel with absolutely no chill whatsoever.
Show Notes:
Run Time: 1:20:50
We talk a bit about Christmas, and then, about 4 minutes in, we get to work!
We expected this one to be tough, but it turns out that we were visited by the ghost of Sentinel Comics past, and they did the work for us!
Just after the 53 minute mark, we start in on your questions.
At just before an hour and 15 minutes in, we talk a bit about the cover, which is shown above.
Happy Holidays, everyone! See you all next year!
