The Public Defender's Department is the brainchild of former Attorney General Hon. Faris Al Rawi,MP and currently consists of 28 attorneys. This department provides assistance to members of the public who are unable to afford legal representation and have criminal matters before the courts subject to certain criteria.
The Public Defender's Department is an arm of the Legal Aid and Advisory Authority.
