Dinalynn Rosenbush, SLP | Speech Pathologist, Parent Mentor, Communication with Kids

*** A Top 1.5% Podcast! *** Getting Kids to Listen, Speech Therapy, IEP, Communication with Kids, Parent Mentor, Family Connection Are you tired of repeating yourself with your children or wonder why they don’t listen? Are you afraid you are doing the wrong thing to help your kids communicate, but you are unsure what to do? Are you frustrated that your kids argue, whine or debate with you? Hey parents, you don’t need to stay overwhelmed, exhausted, and triggered by the fuss. In this podcast, you will find solutions to ... get kids to listen better, build strong communication - even in the presence of a speech delay, and have boundaries that benefit kids. All while enhancing your relationships! My mission is to help puzzled, busy, worried parents read their child’s behavior as communication. When we understand what they are communicating, WE start to communicate differently! This is true of children with typical development, children in dual language homes, and children with delays. When Your Language allows for discovery, creativity, curiosity and exploration, connection is born. Connected kids are courageous and listen better. Connected kids have fewer meltdowns. Listen in to learn empowering strategies for teaching and listening! Hello, my name is Dinalynn Rosenbush, mom, grandma, Speech Language Pathologist of over 30 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of children with speech & language delays and navigated single parenthood. Through training and my own struggles, I learned to use specific language in specific ways that build connection. Our communication is not only our words, but it is the feeling our children have when we speak with them. Let’s create a home where exploration is welcomed, mistakes are stepping stones, and practice is expected. When kids believe you are on their team, eventually, they join your team! Because, what works for speech and language disabled children, simply works! I believe all parents should have access to these skills, not just specialists. It is my hope to give small nuggets of information in each episode to build your communication toolbox. So, if you are ready to build deep, meaningful connection AND create a more peaceful, productive and happy home. Listen in! Let’s interrupt the way you have been parenting. so that you CAN BECOME THE PARENT you WANT to be. I am glad you are here! Dinalynn Contact: [email protected] https://linktr.ee/thelanguageofplay

Hey Friends,

Do you ever wish that you could Re-Parent yourself? Well, you can it’s true.

Many people come to adulthood and have some baggage from their upbringing. In fact, most everybody has some kind of experience that they brought with them to adulthood. Those traumatic or even "normal" experiences are not helping them be the best parent they want to be, nor it is helping them be the best human they want to be. Something lingers... even after you try to forget, forgive, and know it is done.

I want you to know that: You can speak to that part of you that is still small, still young, and still growing. You can be the parent to yourself so you get what the little you needed.

Always Cheering you on!!

Hey Friends,

With the Holidays approaching, we all have extra things to do! How can we incorporate help from our little ones? We can, if we can identify what they do independently, naturally, when they don't yet have many skills - Listen to this 2 year old example!

We also talk about how to identify when your child feels confident in a job and a strategy that shows your child exactly HOW YOU WANT a job done.

Of course, sometimes our kids are playing a video game or otherwise buys. You need a way to interrupt and redirect them, - keeping the joy! And finally, we discuss the strategic Celebration along the way! Remember when it is good for you, it is also good for the kids. We want the joy inside during the process. :)

Let me know what part is useful to you and how you incorporate the ideas!

Always cheering you on!

Hey Friends~

Your Feelings are a message from your body. It’s the same for your kids.

How do you attune to your child’s feelings - instead of telling them not to feel as they do?

Do quickly tell your child how to behave? (“Don’t worry.” “Settle down.” or “You don’t need to feel that way.”) This kind of response backfires in relationships

Or

Do you reflect back to them how they are feeling? This is not an easy skill. However, it is a skill that is learnable!

Hey Friends~

Walking the road of parenting is hard. It is filled with joy and struggles. We are okay to feel the way we feel. No matter what you feel about it. Learning to let go of negative judgment and condemning thoughts about our feelings is critical to be authentically yourself. Parents are often able to do this with their kids, but continue to struggle to be so kind to themselves. If this is you, you will LOVE today’s Episode with Susanna Peace Lovell, author of Your True Self is Enough.

Susanna’s daughter wrote in the forward of the book, “Learn to understand your child rather than make them do what you think is normal.”

When you learn from your child who they are, instead of trying to create them to be who we want them to be, we free ourselves to do the same for ourselves.

You will be glad you tuned in to this encouraging and authentic episode.

Always cheering you on!

Dear Parents,

Parenting is tough work! Did you know that teaching speech sounds can actually make you a better parent? It's true!! In speech sound teaching, you become more aware of the little nuances of learning and what your child needs. Your child becomes more aware of the small pieces needed and deepens trust to do the hard things.

Today, we talk about a game that is simple and you can do at home - whether your teaching speech sounds or math facts! This is a way to take the hard and let your child feel like it is easy.

Spoiler: The first part is foundational, so you know how and why this game works in your child's developing brain.

Let me know how it goes!

Sincerely,

Dinalynn

Lynn Greenberg is the happiest wife, mom, and grandma. A very retired attorney who loves to cook, exercise, and read, she has seen how positivity with feelings and differences can allow children to grow into happy, productive adults.
