The Hormone Genius Podcast - S3 Ep. 17: Jamie & Teresa's Birth Stories; Looking Back
play

02/15/23 • 49 min

In our last 2 episodes we discussed mental health awareness, and issues that women can suffer through, like trauma. One thing that unfortunately can occur is that birth doesn't always go the way we expect it too. If fact, for some women may be a traumatic experience and not a joyful one. We though it would be good for both of us to look back at our own birth experiences and share them with eachother. Jamie & Teresa have never shared this information with eachother before so it was all new, and fun to share and learn about how our birth stories went. We know how important it is for women to process these stories after birth and to realize we all have these individually unique experiences. Sharing allows for healing, and we hope you enjoy this podcast of just looking back and sharing our birth stories with eachother! We hope it inspires you to share your birth story whether it a friend, a family member, or even a professional, it is helpful, and birth is such a important and powerful experience in each woman's life. This topic we are presenting today on The Hormone Genius is very specific, Lutenized Unruptured Follicle syndrome. It likely does not apply to most of you listening today, however, for those whom it does apply to, it is a very important topic. There are many types of ovarian cysts and this is just one type we are discussing today. Remember that every menstrual cycle your body makes a cyst on one ovary, called the follicle which grows to approximately 2.2 CM and then releases an egg in the natural process we call ovulation. So we all have an ovarian cyst every menstrual cycle. But, there are abnormal ovarian cysts as well and when this occurs they can disrupt the normal process of ovulation, cause pain, and even lead to a cycle that is infertile. An LUF is a cyst that fails to ovulate, goes through the process of lutenization, and grow larger than normal filling in with debris. Today we will take a deep dive on the issue of LUF cysts. A reminder that this is not medical advice and if you have concerns about your own individual health symptoms, you should speak to your doctor. Teresa and Jamie want to open this conversation up to give you a knowledge base of this particular issue and empower you with knowledge so you can advocate for the best medical care which is what you ALL deserve.
