E67: What's Your Normal: Whatever You Want It To Be
The Homeschool Project Podcast
03/21/21 • 49 min
Hello and welcome back to the campfire! On today's episode Nathan and I discuss what "Normal" means. As homeschoolers we are considered abnormal by most of society because we are still the minority when it comes to educating our children. We discuss how the world wants to give us a definition of normal in regards to education, finances, lifestyle, and just about everything else in our lives. Normal is whatever you decide it is and that does not have to look the same as the majority of others. We prefer to be abnormal when it comes to most of these categories and homeschooling is just the beginning. So if following the masses is not how you approach life, then grab a seat by the fire and join us in this conversation you will probably love!

Bite Size Wednesdays: Cooling Down Hot Tempers with Paulette
The Homeschool Project Podcast
07/14/21 • 5 min
Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Welcome to Bite Size Wednesdays where we take a bite of life with a bite of your time. We will still continue to release 5 Minutes or Less whenever we have participants, but we had the idea to record mini episodes in between those on Wednesdays. And when we say mini, we mean mini lol. These episodes will probably range from 5-10 minutes in length and will cover a variety of topics. It may be on words of encouragement, helpful tips or hacks, a recipe we loved or anything we are currently loving, and maybe even after thoughts or reflections from a previous guest interview...the possibilities are endless!
If you would like to share a 'pro-tip' for the week, please send us an email or message us. There is so much out there we can all be sharing to help each other out.
So today on Bite Size Wednesdays, my sister Paulette will be sharing her parenting tip on the ‘if...then’ statement.
You can find Paulette blogging over on our website under Teacher Mama.
Hope you enjoy!

The Homeschool Project Podcast
08/22/21 • 80 min
Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Lewis Ames and Gemma Southerden joining us. Lewis and Gemma are qualified Forest Leaders and the directors of Children Of The Forest. They are both former teachers who have gone into business together to focus on what they are passionate about: giving children and families meaningful learning and play experiences, in the great outdoors. Tucked away on their beautiful, private 3 acres of Gaddon Woods, they run weekly sessions where children can explore and follow their own learning journeys. Their mission is to give children real skills, real freedom in their play, and to reconnect families with nature.

The Homeschool Project Podcast
05/09/21 • 77 min
Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Zac, the creator of An American Homestead, joining us. Zac is a single father of two boys and an off grid homesteader homeschooling his kids. An American Homestead is a platform and YouTube channel dedicated to teaching modern homesteading.
This interview was livestreamed to his audience, or so we thought as there were some technical difficulties, but is available on his YouTube channel. We discuss how his choice to homestead and homeschool were not only about education, but also about celebrating the family unit.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel deep into the American Ozarks where we discuss homesteading, homeschooling, and how this lifestyle choice is all about the family!

E101: Chasing Dreams In A Hectic Life
The Homeschool Project Podcast
11/07/21 • 14 min
Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today I speak on a topic that has always been important to Nathan and I. It's one that many parents may place on the back burner as we just try to juggle every day life of parenting and responsibilities. We all need to have a big picture of where we would like to see our life headed...on a personal as well as on a family level. Parenting never quite slows down regardless of us thinking, 'maybe in the next stage, I'll find more time'. Instead we need to change our mindset and think, 'how can we make this work?' What shifts need to occur when I know this can bring a greater good?
So grab a seat by the fire as I discuss the importance of keeping our inner flame burning!

E98: Home Ed Series: Deschooling & Reconnecting Children With Learning Naturally with Kelly Edwards from 90-Minute School Day
The Homeschool Project Podcast
10/17/21 • 60 min
Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Kelly Edwards joining us. Kelly is an entrepreneur, licensed foster parent, creator of the 90-Minute School Day, and homeschool mom to 3. Seven years ago when Kelly first began to homeschool, she tried to bring school home and the boxed curriculum was the teacher. She soon realized this was not going to work.
Through her real-life failures, connections with other families in similar straits, and the guidance of some amazing mentors; Kelly redefined what she wanted homeschool to be like for her family. This is where the 90-Minute School Day was born.
Through this lifestyle approach to education, Kelly’s method connects children with learning in their natural environment: at home with their family. This method guides the homeschooling parent with a framework and system that will spark imagination, ignite wonder, and inspire your whole family to adventure.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to the mountains of West Virginia and discuss how to detox and launch our new diet of learning naturally in our homeschools!

E95: Home Ed Series: Homeschooling The Early Years with Erin Loechner from Other Goose
The Homeschool Project Podcast
09/26/21 • 39 min
Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Erin Loechner joining us. Erin is a bestselling author, founder of Other Goose, and homeschooling mom of 3. After traveling the world and searching for an all-inclusive classroom that valued play, freedom, and structure, Erin discovered the solution in her own backyard: homeschooling.
But when the time came to choose an educational plan for her kids under the age of 7, the search wasn’t so simple. Where was the methodology that valued all philosophies of learning? Where was the boxed curriculum that didn’t box out the parent? Where was the simple homeschooling strategy that held space for open-ended discovery?
Other Goose was born from these questions. Together with a team of thought-leaders, childhood development experts, research scholars, and environmentalists, Erin welcomes all learners.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to the Midwest to discuss simple and fun homeschooling for the early years!
Quick reminder. With Fall approaching and the leaves changing, we are excited to announce the release of our Free Ultimate Family Camping/Outdoor Checklist! Nathan and I have been camping for years with and without kids. So we put together this checklist in hopes to help other families wanting to get out and camp more. See link below for download.
