Holly and I sat down the day after Easter Sunday to discuss the matters of mental health and homemaking, and ways in which we use the gospel as a means of encouragement and foundation for the joys and hardships of homemaking. From running with tenacity as we share homemaking with the world, to learning to not place value in the works we do but in who we are, Holly and I invite you to listen in as we share hearts for tending to those entrusted in our care in a humble, service minded, gospel-led way.“One of the things I’ve always struggled with is identifying what I do with who I am. We have to know that the photos we see online, people have stewarded their gifts to get to where they are. You don't wake up one day and are the best chef. I think some people are naturally gifted in some things. You don't wake up and know how to make an awesome apple pie! You have to learn, and grow, and steward those things to serve your family." - Holly Grace Levell (@hollygrace.at.home on Instagram)In this episode, Holly and I discuss her journal she shares on her website Holly Grace at Home, where she shares tips for slow homemaking and sacred heart shaping. She also has a newly opened mercantile of homemade goods for homemaking like aprons and vintage goods for beautiful usefulness. The Homemaker's Club ® Podcast - #11 Comparison and Contentment with Jenny Fitzgerald
play

07/04/22 • 50 min

In today's episode, my friend Jenny and I invite you to listen in as we discuss the imaginary checklists that we create for being a "certified" homemaker through comparison and the need for checking expectations at the door and share ways in which we fight for beauty and gratitude amongst the tasks of our days' work within our homes."Homemaking, a lot of times is 1000 mundane tasks every single day that you're going to do over and over and over again that you're like, "I'm doing this today so that I can get up again tomorrow and do it again. Like it's going be the same. It's I'm going have to clean the kitchen again tomorrow, probably three times." So that is super defeating to me. If I get in that realm, what can I do that's going make it special. Is it going to be music, a candle, like a cup of tea, coffee for me usually or what can I find that's beautiful here? Like, what am I living right now that I prayed for? What am I living right now that I always hoped for? That I'm still not reaching this like checkbox or this expectation, so that I'm almost discontent in the right now because this still isn't perfect. And this still isn't perfect. And maybe my kitchen doesn't look like this, or maybe my weights like this, or my hair's falling out. All of those things, what can we do in those moments? Well, we can kind of say like, "what are our expectations? And what's actually really beautiful, and where am I really at?" - Jenny Fitzgerald (@fitzgeraldlane on Instagram)A few little things that were mentioned in today’s episode + the coordinating details:1.
