The early stages of the Christian life are very important. Life is difficult. It's easy to come off the spiritual mountaintops of newfound faith when life becomes hard. It's also easy for a new Christian to not get the proper balanced guidance they need after getting saved.

New believers need to surround themselves with good mentors and caring church communities. When new Christians build their lives on a strong foundation they start strong and have a higher chance of staying strong.

Good books for new Christians, such as A Long Obedience in the Same Direction by Eugene H. Peterson (author of The Message Bible) also aid in forming strong foundations in the lives of new believers.

The book is a well-rounded, accessible and approachable introduction to various Christian topics. It is practical and looks at topics such as repentance, hope, obedience, security and more all while comparing them to different Psalms.

This book helps readers learn how to walk beside Jesus for the long journey of obedience and we highly recommend it.
