"You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence." (Acts 2:28)
These words are from a sermon Peter is preaching to the locals of Jerusalem who had just crucified Jesus seven weeks earlier before he resurrected. After He ascended to Heaven 40 days later, the Apostles were left to explain His message to the locals. And in order to do that, Peter quotes David. The locals are familiar with David's words because it's part of their Scripture. This is from one of the songs they sing. David was prophesying about the coming Messiah, Jesus, and because of Jesus, we have access to the path of true life! Eternal life! Because of His finished work on the cross, we have access to the kind of gladness that only comes from being in God's presence. When David wrote those words, he was saying what we say every day. He's where the joy is!
