So often, we long for an escape. We find ourselves in a place that we always aspired to be, yet, we feel as if something is missing. If we are lucky, we may find ourselves in a different location and be overwhelmed by a realization or inspiration that might lead to a fundamental change in our mindset or our lives. But regardless of where you go to search for the solution, you will always find it in one location - within yourself. We just need to believe in our capabilities, reflect on our past achievements, take action, and hope that we will have the perfect cheerleaders to support us along our journey.

On this episode of The Ginni Show, I speak with Karen Gamba, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of ExV Agency. She’s a philanthropist, traveler, Sci-fi fanatic, and overall girl power guru. Karen is an eternal ex-pat and travel fanatic, and she is here to share some of the life-changing awakenings she experienced in different locations around the globe.

What You Will Learn:

The Ginni Show - Flying by the Seat of Our Pants with Cynthia Rowley
play

05/30/22 • 28 min

On this episode of The Ginni Show, I speak with Cynthia Rowley, award-winning fashion designer and travel aficionado. Cynthia grew up in a small town in midwest Illinois before packing up her sewing machines and moving to New York City, where she eventually realized her dream of becoming a fashion designer. With theatrics including Elvis impersonators and (literally) lighting runways on fire, Cynthia’s fashion shows are famously known for their dramatics.

Cynthia employs the same mindsight to designing clothes as she does to traveling: be fearless. From camping in the Himalayas to surfing with sharks in Byron Bay, she maintains that some of the most memorable travel experiences are born from living on the edge. Throughout this episode, we discuss Cynthia’s journey to success as a fashion designer as well as some of her most memorable travel experiences.

Join me and Cynthia to learn more about her amazing adventures.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Cynthia’s experience of moving from a small town to New York City to pursue her dreams (2:23)
  • How the age-old adage of “fake it till you make it” has worked for Cynthia(6:59)
  • How nothing comes easy and we have to work for the things that we want (7:48)
  • What made Cynthia’s fashion shows so memorable (8:41)
  • How Cynthia vacationed with her family as a young girl (11:08)
  • It’s not the destination, it’s the journey - what this means to Cynthia and how has she applied it to her travel experiences (11:54)
  • Cynthia's idea of a fun family vacation. (18:01)
  • What inspired Cynthia to travel and see the world (24:55)
  • What Cynthia deems to be one of the most important contributing factors to flexible travel (26:58)

Do you need an attitude change? The way we show up in our everyday lives, and the attitude we put on each day, is a key factor in determining whether or not we are truly happy. It’s not quite that simple, though. It takes a number of steps to get to that state, and the first step is realizing that it’s time for an attitude shift. In this episode, I talk with David Neagle. He’s a bestselling author and one of the architects of the coaching and personal growth industry itself. The Ginni Show - Throwback Thursday with Ryan Moloney
play

12/06/18 • 6 min

Neighbours is a television show that's just as old as I am! It airs weeknights in Australia and this was a show that I grew up with. In this episode, we throwback to an interview I did with Ryan Maloney aka Toadfish Rebecchi and I may have freaked him out slightly as I listed all the life events the character had gone through. Here's ThrowBack Thursday with Ramsey Street's Toadfish Rebecchi.

How are you spending your time during the global pandemic? Before COVID-19 hit, many of us were constantly stimulated. We were always on the go, looking forward to our next objective. At night, many choose to fill time in front of the television or something else. In other words, sitting in stillness is a rare experience. We’ve developed a behavioral pattern of constantly bombarding and distracting our brains with outside stimulation, which blocks out our own thoughts. That’s why I brought Mitra Manesh for this episode. Mitra is a mindfulness thought leader and founder of the Innermap app. Her work is a blend of Western corporate training and Eastern inner-based practices. The result is a unique appraoch, offering knowledge and wisdom in a practical and empowering way. Throughout this episode, Mitra shares her experience of fleeing Iran during war, and how she stumbled into mindfulness and mindful living. She also shares her strategies for mindfully engaging with the past and future – with a strict itinerary – and why we should visit those places. Tune in to get back in tune with yourself and start living a mindful life. Some Questions I Ask: - How were you introduced to mindfulness and mindful living? (3:49) - How do you mitigate feelings of guilt, as many women struggle with this when they have a high-achieving, thriving career? (11:38) - When did you institute your theory of vising the past and future with a strict itinerary? (21:50) - What is your favorite Rumi quote or teaching and why? (26:18) - How do you start your day? (31:46) - Tell me about your teacher. (34:05)In This Episode, You Will Learn: - How Mitra and her clients are showing up during the COVID-19 pandemic. (6:56) - What it was like for Mitra to literally walk out of Iran into Turkey during the war. (10:04) - How to mindfully engage with the past and future without becoming anxious or depressed. (17:57) - How Mitra learned to befriend death. (26:38) - What is oil pulling? (31:48) - How a 90-year-old Buddhist monk taught Mitra to have fun. (36:13) - Mitra’s advice for combatting anxiety during the pandemic. (38:18)Connect with Mitra Manesh: InnermapInstagram

Getting unexpectedly let go at work. Struggling through a painful divorce. Losing a loved one. Reluctantly riding a roller coaster of bad luck.

These are some of the most common setbacks that life sometimes dishes out... whether we want them or not.

But, while it doesn’t always feel like it in the moment, these setbacks can have a brighter side.

Setbacks can build resilience, strengthen our character, and become springboards for changes that redirect our lives. Often in profound ways.

Today, Ginni welcomes Amy Shoenthal. Not only is Amy a part of Ginni’s vibrant neighborhood community in New York (#sunnysideup), but she’s also an established author and a marketing pro. Her latest book, The Setback Cycle, shares real-life stories of people, including herself, who turned challenging obstacles into life-changing opportunities.

You’ll learn why setbacks are such a common experience shared by people from all walks of life, and how we tend to view them when we’re in the thick of it. You’ll hear stories of big setbacks and the bravery they birthed that led to profoundly positive life changes. You’ll also score a few hot tips for your next trip to Ginni and Amy’s New York neighborhood.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Identifying the roots of your expectations when times are tough (4:10)
  • Why setbacks are such a common shared experience (11:47)
  • Turning your biggest setback into your greatest opportunity (14:36)
  • The catalyst for Amy’s children's book (18:48)
