This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, the CPAC conference was a lot of things, but “conservative” wasn’t one of them. Despite absolutely no evidence of election fraud, Colorado Republicans are bringing a bunch of bills to make it harder to vote. The Colorado legislature is back in session after a COVID break. Finally, Lauren Boebert continues to embarrass Colorado on many different national stages.

Come Home Tina Peters!

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast,
- Our main Colorado podcast competition and known logo thieves probably break campaign finance laws (or most certainly will);
- Colorado’s 8th congressional district doesn’t yet exist, but a solid Democratic candidate for it certainly does;
- Embattled Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters is still on the lam, but she popped up to talk to MyPillow Guy Mike Lindell (with whom she most certainly is not having a torrid love affair);
- Lauren Boebert as crooked as she is shady, and she’s very, very bad at hiding it;
- Ken Buck still sucks, but not as bad as...
- The totally-not-Republican-redistricting-squad-who-are-entirely-made-up-of-washed-up-Republicans-pretending-not-to-be-Republicans;
- Speaking of Republican stupidity, they’re trying to disenfranchise the majority of Colorado voters because they’re not out of power enough.

President Musk Took Over While You Were Enjoying the Holidays
The Get More Smarter Podcast - A Weekly Show About Colorado Politics

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, it’s 2025, so why does it feel like 1861? At least one of us is coming to you live on tape from our Nation’s Capitol where a very different kind of storming of the Capitol is happening on this election certification day, and in case you’re just waking up from a coma, yes, the American voters in their infinite wisdom elected Donald Trump president again, for reasons we are still unclear on.
Then, we discuss who the real President of the United States is going to be in a few weeks, and why having the richest man in the world handpick the leader of white nationalist parties across the globe is a pretty concerning development. And, even though the Democratic Primary for Colorado’s statewide offices is over 17 months away, we’ve got TWO candidates for two of the state’s top spots that have already announced, one with a minor conflict of interest to disclose for the pod! Finally, we check in with soon-to-be-one-term Congressman Gabe-ish Evans as he bombs his first interview after being sworn in to a seat he’s just keeping warm for the 2026 Democratic Nominee; no need to get any books on those shelves because you’ll be moving back home before you know it.

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, there’s an impeachment trial in the Senate — or is it OF the Senate (1:08), the New York Times tries to find Cory Gardner (13:33), we try to explain the greater meaning of the departure of a Denver Post conservative columnist (44:49), and we interview journalist Madeline Schmidt about her national reporting on Colorado’s unique abortion laws (22:10).

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, a certain Republican candidate for Colorado Governor is pilled to the gills, or the ears, or the claws. The self-described “pro life” candidate for US Senate who is described by other people as “pro choice” not only voted for an abortion ban that lost by 20 points...he actually signed the petition to get it on the ballot. The GOP candidate for Attorney General may have waved off the only group in the country willing to help him win his election; some candidates choose not to run TV ads, which is actually a really big mistake; Republicans are starting to freak out about what happens if they win the US House in 2022 (Our advice? Stop trying to win the House in 2022); and we try out a new game, where there are no winners and everyone is a loser.

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, sure abortion is popular in Kansas, but how will it play in the heartland? It’s not November, but GOP candidate for Attorney General John Kellner already lost his race, and as a matter of fact Lang Sias probably did, too. Meanwhile, the top of the ticket is going nearly as poorly as the Ganahl campaign utterly implodes and the O’Dea campaign is doing absolutely everything they can to say as little as possible; the rest of the GOP ticket sucks too, and the national congressional generic ballot average has pulled to EVEN for the first time since last November. You can pack up your floaties because the 2022 red wave ain’t coming.
*That Kansas joke is brought to you by friend of the show, Professor Seth Masket.

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, the GOP is freaking out about a tactic they’ve used and we’ve used and everyone has used before, mostly because they do not want to talk about their terrible ideas that no one agrees with. We pre-preview the newest edition of the Rocky Mountaineer, and it’s exactly what we thought it would be; Colorado plays an oversize role in all American politics, and that is unfortunately the case with the deadly insurrection at the Capitol on January 6; Lauren Boebert is a wreck, and this time we’re talking about an ATV; Jason and I LARP an interview with Tina Peters and can’t make it make any more sense; and Ken Buck apparently clears the weeds from his lawn with Javelin missiles.

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast...there have been 213 mass shootings so far in 2022. What are we even doing anymore? Our 6th and 7th favorite congresspeople from Colorado continue to embarrass themselves (and all of us) on a daily basis; primary ballots drop next week; and we predict the election results so you don’t have to. But first, our guest this week is state representative Tom Sullivan, who is Colorado’s leading gun violence prevention expert and advocate. We talk gun policy, his personal story, and his campaign for the new Senate District 27.

This week, national Republicans continue to attempt to warp the reality of the deadly attack on the capitol on January 6th by Trump supporters to somehow blame Nancy Pelosi; we determine if they’re the worst people on the planet, or in the galaxy; we are very mad about the fact that we’ll all have to start wearing masks everywhere again because a bunch of whiny crybabies are scared of needles like a bunch of third graders and pretend like they can’t breathe with a tiny piece of cloth over their dumb faces; we check in with the person who wins Worst Coloradan of the Year, every year, who also happens to be our 7th favorite congressperson from our great state; and we read you things we posted on the internet. Also, BEAVERS!
