The Future of Wellness - Connecting to Who You Are with Michael Oruch
play

10/07/22 • 51 min

Joining us today is President Emeritus of the Zero Balancing Board of Directors, Michael Oruch, an established Zero Balancing teacher and practitioner based in New York City. Michael views Zero Balancing as a vehicle for health, wellness and positive change both personally and collectively, and was inspired to teach Zero Balancing (or ZB) following years of study and tutelage with the modality Founder, Dr. Fritz Smith. We discuss how Zero Balancing uses fulcrums to clear vibration held in the bone, joints and the energy field of clients, how working with bone connects to our ancestors and why releasing held tension in the body catalyzes self-reorganisation. We address the key ZB concept of "interface" - how the practitioner navigates the boundary between structure and energy through touch. Michael shares his insights regarding how healing is about accessing that which is hidden, as we free ourselves from suffering and resolve trauma in the body and the mind. Key aspects of Zero Balancing are discussed including expanded states of consciousness and what it means to “hurt good’. Interestingly, we explore how a touch-based modality can be used for remote healing through the use of surrogates.

Michael has taught Zero Balancing extensively in both the US and internationally, and has additionally spent many years studying Qigong, Tai Chi and related forms, which he has taught at New York University. He has made significant contributions to the ZB community as a Mentor Faculty Advisor, through teacher trainings, and serving on various committees. He has also personally developed three Zero Balancing classes and two Zero Balancing training DVD's. Michael believes Zero Balancing can help a practitioner to be more present and clear in the world, with themselves, and each person they contact.

In this Spotlight episode, we uncover the fascinating origins, structure and significance of kundalini energy, clarifying the boundaries between the symbolic and the real. We present both historical and mythological perspectives, explaining how the image of the kundalini snake can be seen in mythological motifs from around the world. Keith explains the energy anatomy related to kundalini including the sushumna nadi, pingala and ida channels and the granthis. He guides us through the stages of kundalini awakening from the rising of "shakti" energy to the sushumna nadi and chakra system, catalyzing profound transformation for the experiencer. We learn about the positive and potentially negative outcomes of kundalini rising from extrasensory perception and spiritual insight to the problematic psychophysiological issues known as kundalini syndrome. We also address the significant question; "How can a person make a kundalini awakening happen?" For those interested in having a kundalini awakening, Keith emphasizes the importance of practices that foster greater balance, enhanced presence and increased vitality - highlighting that no single method reigns supreme. Gain clarity on the often misunderstood process of kundalini awakening and discover insights to support your progress in awakening this powerful energy that resides within.

Today, we’re turning the tables - Keith is stepping into the guest seat to talk about his new book, Radical Reality! A teacher, author and healing practitioner with expertise in the human energy field, contemplative science and the healing arts, Keith initially used meditation as a vehicle to understand and refine subtle states of consciousness. Over the following decade he studied movement, breathwork, bodywork, energy work and other disparate disciplines. During this intensive period, he had a series of breakthrough experiences enabling him to see the aura with remarkable clarity. His first book, Radical Reality: How Seeing the Aura Reveals Who & What We Are, has just been published and is an exploration of how the human energy field informs our understanding of the mind-body connection, consciousness and reality itself. We discuss why it’s so important to examine the intersection of science and spirituality to understand reality at the deepest level. We delve into core topics from the book such as multidimensionality - the idea that reality is layered and interconnected beyond what we see as only physical. We discuss how he developed extrasensory perception of the aura and how it reveals insights about the mind-body connection. Keith shares some stories chronicled in the book related to astral projection and kundalini awakening. We also learn how Keith went from being skeptical about spirituality to opening his mind to other possibilities based on direct experience. Through compelling anecdotes of his personal experiences and professional practice, listeners will find valuable insights that challenge conventional boundaries. He hopes the book serves as both an inspiration and a guide for those seeking to expand their own consciousness and explore their inner world. This episode is a call to action for anyone curious about spiritual awakening or healing - encouraging reflection, personal growth and an expanded view of reality.

Keith founded Field Dynamics in 2018 to help individuals with their personal growth and as a platform to exemplify the potential of energy healing. He offers private sessions, alongside both short and long format trainings in energy healing.

Is the potency of your "life force" the key to understanding your health? Saul Goodman is an author, teacher and developer of Shin Tai and the founder of the International School of Shiatsu, with branches in over 15 countries. His passion for understanding the energy flow in the human body led to his evolutionary form of Shiatsu, Shin Tai (meaning "Source Body") - a unique approach to activating inner healing forces. In our conversation we consider the relationship of the physical and energetic body - or aura - and its impact on our lived experiences. Saul shares his insights as to how our body communicates the priority areas for treatment and his techniques for releasing the most critical stressors in the system. Saul shares his wisdom on chakras, meridians and kundalini channels and how they interconnect. We also learn of his remarkable experience in which his clairvoyant abilities began with seeing images in a person's energy field which related to their issues. We discuss how embracing our existing life exactly as it is and viewing life as a ritual may lead to profound healing. Saul gives his perspective on the light body and how regulating this vibrational level allows for greater integration with our relationships and environment. Furthermore, we consider the role of optimizing the human energy body and the difference between conscious versus subconscious development. Saul's transformative perspective on health, life and healing is thought provoking and inspires us to consider the nature of our personal and collective evolution.

Saul is author of The Book of Shiatsu, Shiatsu Shin Tai, and Light Body Activation. Shin Tai methodology emerged from his years of practice and discovering the relationship between the resonance of the body and the flow of energy, offering a unique set of diagnostics and techniques to activate the client’s own life force. His book Light Body Activation describes the vibrational shifts taking place in our current stage of evolution and features practices for integrating and synchronizing our life with these vibrational, multidimensional influences. Saul has taught classes for almost forty years, with thirty instructors now teaching Shin Tai in the US and Europe and thousands of practitioners around the world. Currently he runs his private practice alongside his wife Lynn Goodman in Pennsylvania, USA.

The Future of Wellness - Embodiment in Yoga, Tantra & Self-Realization with Tara Judelle
play

09/28/23 • 55 min

Tara Judelle has taught yoga around the world for over 20 years. With asana as a gateway, Tara steeped herself in the non-dual philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism or Tantra. In 2014 she co-created the school of Embodied Flow with Dr. Scott Lyons; an integrative blend of hatha yoga, somatics, meditation, and transpersonal psychology that elicits the experience of meditation in action. In this reflective episode we discuss how asana can be used skilfully to support our awakening process. Tara shares the philosophy of tantra and how it informs her practice as well as the influence of her own teachers Sally Kempton and Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen. She explains the concept of 'embodied anatomy' and what it really means to have freedom. Tara shares how in order to fully inhabit the body, healing must first take place, and how tapping into healing energy happens naturally when coming into a place of stillness within or by touching the "ground of being". We discuss the importance of getting in touch with the memory and resonance of early embryological aspects of our bodies, and how macrocosmic, universal energy flows are reflected in the movements of our physical body. Tara's classes focus on the discovery of embodied anatomy, bringing to the yogic tradition a scientific yet playful study of the movement vocabulary of the body and the ever-expanding perceptual awareness of the human mind. Following an initial move from Los Angeles to direct a yoga program and retreat center in Bali for several years, Tara now teaches workshops, retreats and teacher trainings worldwide; her dynamic style bringing ease and authenticity into a new yoga culture.

Our special guest for today’s New Year episode is Rollin McCraty, Ph.D., innovator, psychophysiologist and director of research at HeartMath® Institute Research Center. One of Rollin's primary areas of focus is the physiology of emotion, investigating the mechanisms by which emotions influence cognitive processes, behavior and health. Hear his transformative journey from a communications engineer to a trailblazer in consciousness studies. He shares transformative early experiences with Doc Childre, founder of HeartMath, which ignited a profound heart awakening and reshaped his life's mission. Rollin reveals how the heart's electromagnetic field communicates emotional states between individuals and can synchronize heart rhythms. We discuss why it’s important for people to consider their “emotional diet", as he guides us through the intricate connections between the heart and brain, shedding light on the heart's crucial role in intuition and decision-making. We unpack the science behind how emotions like love and appreciation can shift physiological states and why heart-brain coherence is key to emotional balance. We also discuss the groundbreaking work of Mae-Wan Ho, Ph.D., on the multidimensional quantum coherence of living systems. Learn about the brain of the heart, the intrinsic cardiac nervous system (ICNS), and how HeartMath techniques can enhance intuition and increase synchronicity. Rollin explains the implications of these phenomena for energy healing practices and global, collective coherency. Furthermore, he provides practical steps for self transformation from mindfulness to the awareness of what he calls “the vibrational spectrum of love”. Whether you're intrigued by the science of heart coherence or its broader implications regarding human interconnectedness, this episode offers a compelling look at the heart's profound role in our existence and the science behind it.

Rollin McCraty, Ph.D., is director of research at HeartMath® Institute Research Center, a professor at Florida Atlantic University, and a psychophysiologist. He has been with HeartMath Institute since its founding by Doc Childre in 1991. Rollin’s critical research on heart rate variability and heart-rhythm coherence has gained international attention in the scientific community and is helping to change long-held perceptions about the heart’s role in health, behavior, performance and quality of life.

Midge Murphy JD, PhD practiced entertainment law in California for over a decade, working with prestigious clients such as 20th Century Fox and Disney. After attaining her professional goals, she found herself on a quest to explore her spirituality and the emerging field of energy medicine with luminaries such as Norm Shealy MD, PhD and Caroline Myss. In 2001, she became the first attorney to earn a PhD in energy medicine, becoming an energy healing practitioner. Given her prior experience, that same year she was asked to teach a class on ethics and legal issues and in doing so realized that without appropriate education and training, both licensed and non-licensed practitioners that incorporate energy healing methods into their practices faced possible legal risks. As a result, Midge opened her consulting practice in ethics, legal issues and risk management strategies in the practice of and training in energy healing methods. Midge shares her personal story, and her experience ranging from hospice care and therapeutic touch to reiki and shamanic studies. We discuss how energy healing practitioners are healthcare practitioners, and the importance of practising in integrity, both professionally and legally. We define CAM (complimentary and alternative medicine) and how it fits into the western medicine paradigm. We cover legal and regulatory frameworks for energy healing practitioners in the USA and the changing laws regarding the practice of energy healing. We also discuss important considerations about liability and risk mitigation, such as working across state lines and guidelines about how to appropriately market and describe services. Midge shares what to look for in a professional training body for those interested in becoming certified practitioners. We discuss important ethical considerations such as informed consent, client confidentiality and integrating other practices with energy work. Midge also shares her views on the future of integrative medicine, and how a holistic approach to healthcare simply has to include energy. For over 15 years, Midge has been serving many of the best-known practitioners and training organizations in the field. She is recognized as a leading expert and a dynamic presenter and teacher, publishing her book Practice Energy Healing in Integrity, expanded and updated in 2020.

Wilka Roig brings a broad perspective to her work in end-of-life wellness as a transpersonal psychologist, death doula, grief counsellor, dream worker, ordained minister, educator and facilitator. She holds a MA in Transpersonal Psychology and has trained with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés in Archetypal and Cross-Cultural Psychology, and with Dr. Gabor Maté in Compassionate Inquiry. We also discuss how a person's beliefs might inform their relationship to death and the knowing that guides the facilitation of transition. Wilka invites us to broaden our relationship to transitions, and emphasises living fully and dying gracefully. She explains how death is happening at many levels, much of the time, and how grief can be dealt with wisely. We also discuss death denial, how dreams inform life, altered states, and the possibilities for integrating Curanderismo, Tibetan Buddhism and other approaches to the death process. Ultimately, Wilka provides us with an expansive and integrative view of what a death doula is and can be.

A mysterious voice heard in meditation transformed the lives of Peter McIntosh and his wife Lynn, setting them on an extraordinary journey and leading them to create one of the world's most unique sound healing sanctuaries. Peter is the visionary founder and CEO of Pyramids of Chi, Bali, Indonesia, an internationally renowned sound healing center inspired by ancient civilizations that harnesses the power of sound for healing purposes. Rooted in the principles of sacred geometry, vibrational healing and meditation, Pyramids of Chi was designed as a space where individuals can reconnect with their inner selves through immersive sound experiences. Peter shares the captivating story of how divine intervention orchestrated everything from finding the perfect land to attracting almost a million dollars in funding through an inexpensive newspaper ad. Built with precise 51.8 degree angles and one wall facing true north, he explains how the pyramids create healing frequencies that amplify the effects of sound. Peter explains why gongs have become the centerpiece instrument at the pyramids, and how the symphonic gongs used can sustain vibrations for up to three minutes - creating sound baths that can affect the physical body and the energy anatomy such as chakras. Nearly 260,000 visitors have experienced the transformative space, many reporting profound physical, emotional, and spiritual healings. As interest grows, the Pyramids of Chi is now preparing to expand globally, but only with partners who prioritize healing over profits. Peter's parting wisdom resonates beyond sound healing, offering guidance for life's important decisions: "Do not listen to that stuff that keeps your ears apart. Listen to your heart first and foremost. That's where God resides, that's where decision-making should always come from."

Prior to Pyramids of Chi, Peter had a dynamic career in marketing and business development. He now continues to expand the global conversation on sound healing and consciousness.
