The Future of Wellness - Pre & Perinatal Trauma Healing with Kate White
play

03/10/23 • 51 min

Kate White is a somatic trauma resolution therapist, Biodynamic craniosacral and advanced bodyworker specializing in prenatal and perinatal therapies. She specializes in healing early trauma by helping people work through and resolve the adaptive strategies initiated in their earliest years of life. Throughout her career Kate has helped to "educate professionals and the public, worldwide, that a baby’s experience of conception, pregnancy, and birth creates lifelong consequences for individuals, families, and society." In this episode Kate gives us an overview of pre and perinatal care, her skillset in presence and reading the space between people, and the influence of pioneers in the field Ray Castellino and William Emerson. We discuss the body as memory, and the layers and imprints of pre-conception, pre-natal and birthing trauma. She shares the commonality of the "double bind" and a "stuck place" in life as a result of inherited or birth trauma. We consider the regularity of ancestral imprints and their effect on the family system. Kate addresses the importance of our self-healing, and how treating a baby is in fact treating the whole family. She also shares her insights with regards to best birthing practices such as midwifery, the role of a birth doula, and extended support of the broader family.

Since 1999, Kate has studied alongside many of the pioneers in prenatal and perinatal trauma healing, with extensive education in anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, embryology, interpersonal neurobiology, craniosacral biodynamics and somatic experiencing. She is Founder and former Director of the Department of Education for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health, and offers online training in both Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics. Her work combines somatic therapy with brain development to help give families with babies and small children the best possible start.

In this empowering Spotlight episode, Christabel explores the nuanced world of empathic communication - the subtle art of recognizing and honouring your own energy amidst the influence of others. Highly sensitive people with active extrasensory perception will especially resonate with this episode! With thoughtful exploration into concepts of sympathetic resonance and morphic fields, you'll discover how your personal energy influences and resonates with those around you, and impacts collective behaviors. Learn to identify the red flags of poor energetic boundaries, such as emotional drainage and empathic overload, that often stem from unresolved trauma. Christabel uncovers the signs of energy entanglement, offering practical tools to reclaim your energetic boundaries. As we move beyond the simplistic notion of 'protecting' ourselves from 'negative' energies, we emphasize the importance of achieving inner stability and balance. This is key to naturally strengthening our boundaries and maintaining harmony within ourselves, ultimately reducing the impact of external influences and avoiding energetic triggers. By committing to personal growth and energetic health, we can not only transform our own lives but also the spaces and communities we inhabit. Whether you feel drained by external forces or struggle with managing your own energy and boundaries, this episode is your guide to better understanding where you end, and others begin. Tune in to explore how being a highly sensitive person can be a superpower with a skilful approach to energetic boundaries and empathic communication, leading to more meaningful connections and a deeper sense of peace, both within and around you.

The Future of Wellness - Embodiment in Yoga, Tantra & Self-Realization with Tara Judelle
play

09/28/23 • 55 min

Tara Judelle has taught yoga around the world for over 20 years. With asana as a gateway, Tara steeped herself in the non-dual philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism or Tantra. In 2014 she co-created the school of Embodied Flow with Dr. Scott Lyons; an integrative blend of hatha yoga, somatics, meditation, and transpersonal psychology that elicits the experience of meditation in action. In this reflective episode we discuss how asana can be used skilfully to support our awakening process. Tara shares the philosophy of tantra and how it informs her practice as well as the influence of her own teachers Sally Kempton and Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen. She explains the concept of 'embodied anatomy' and what it really means to have freedom. Tara shares how in order to fully inhabit the body, healing must first take place, and how tapping into healing energy happens naturally when coming into a place of stillness within or by touching the "ground of being". We discuss the importance of getting in touch with the memory and resonance of early embryological aspects of our bodies, and how macrocosmic, universal energy flows are reflected in the movements of our physical body. Tara's classes focus on the discovery of embodied anatomy, bringing to the yogic tradition a scientific yet playful study of the movement vocabulary of the body and the ever-expanding perceptual awareness of the human mind. Following an initial move from Los Angeles to direct a yoga program and retreat center in Bali for several years, Tara now teaches workshops, retreats and teacher trainings worldwide; her dynamic style bringing ease and authenticity into a new yoga culture.

In this insightful Spotlight episode, we explore the gentle yet profound world of Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) techniques. Discover how these hands-on, non-invasive approaches tap into the body’s natural rhythms of self-healing in different ways. We discuss the subtle power of craniosacral rhythms, the role of the "breath of life", and how practitioners facilitate deep, holistic healing with a practice that has evolved from the groundbreaking work of osteopath William Sutherland. Keith shares his personal exploration of craniosacral therapy, tracing its roots in cranial osteopathy and discussing how pioneers such as John Upledger and Franklyn Sills have shaped this hands-on somatic therapy. From the surface rhythms to the deeper layers of the body's innate breathing mechanism, you'll learn how practitioners can attune to these movements. We contrast the methodologies of Upledger's CST with Sills' BCST approach, each offering their own resolution strategies. Discover how the biodynamic model's metaphor of ocean tides reveals the deeper energetic layers of the breath of life. Keith shares his perception of these tidal layers in his own practice and how craniosacral work led him to study energy healing. He discusses his love of energy work for self-practice, personal growth and how it lends itself to profound philosophical inquiry. Whether you're curious about CST’s benefits or the more energetic BCST approach, this episode offers a deep dive into these transformative practices, and creates a comprehensive map for understanding the potential of craniosacral therapy in fostering better health and holistic wellness.

Today’s episode with Diana Richardson is dedicated to a theme that often dominates and steers our lives in many ways, particularly during the holiday season - emotions! Ever wondered how emotions shape our relationships, how they can hinder or nurture our connections, and how we can harness them for a fulfilling love life? Emotions can obstruct our outlook on love and impede the very thing that we most long for - intimate connection with others. We consider the difference between emotions and feelings, what to do when you find yourself in a toxic emotional state, and how we can learn to free ourselves from these unconscious forces. Diana describes how we can identify 'low-grade' emotions or moods in which imbalance starts to express - in states such as negativity, irritability and impatience. She provides powerful insights about how allowing feelings in relationships enables openness and greater intimacy, strategies for resolving emotional struggles and why taking responsibility is central to enabling conflict resolution. This conversation heightens our understanding of how to transform emotional dynamics, urging us towards greater self-awareness. We draw attention to how addressing our emotions can contribute to a more harmonious world and how freeing up the past to serve the present and make space for love in relationships makes all the difference. We conclude this deep exploration by looking at the connection between emotions and their expression during sexual intimacy. Diana helps us understand the principle of love as a state of being and the importance of healing emotions as a means of returning to the love we have within ourselves and with others. This talk offers invaluable advice for us all to maintain robust, gratifying relationships, guiding us towards a more harmonious and loving life.

Diana Richardson is known as the pioneer of the Slow Sex movement. In 1979, while in India, she became a disciple of the Indian mystic Osho and her interest in meditation, touch and healing initiated an exploration into Tantra. She has authored The Heart of Tantric Sex, Tantric Orgasm for Women, and Tantric Love: Feeling Versus Emotion coauthored with her partner Michael Richardson (2010). Diana shows us how sex can be a genuine method for self-exploration and spiritual development. Diana and her partner Michael are based in Switzerland, where they guide couples in the art of slow, conscious sex in their highly successful Making Love Retreats.

Join us on a journey of remedies and resonance with Patricia Kaminski, co-director of the Flower Essence Society alongside Richard Katz since 1980. Together they have authored numerous books about flower essences, including the best-selling Flower Essence Repertory. They also manage Flower Essence Services, which produces flower essences and herbal products at Terra Flora, their 27-acre Biodynamic garden in the Sierra foothills of California. Patricia shares her personal journey in which she discovered the profound power of flower essences. Presenting the history of flower essences and their progenitor, Dr. Edward Bach, Patricia explains how to understand and articulate the characteristics of a flower in relation to their healing characteristics. She shares how a materialist worldview limits our ability to understand how nature is working at subtler levels, and how making a remedy is about the critical synergy of the four elements in tandem with the flower’s unique essence. Patricia discusses her favourite combination remedies for foundational healing, and describes how flower essences create a resonant effect at the energetic and soul level of a person to catalyze healing. Sharing insightful case studies, she brings us practical advice on integrating flower remedies into our daily lives and the transformative power of using words and affirmations alongside them. We uncover the key qualities for healing practitioners who make use of flower remedies, underscoring the importance of presence, empathy and vision in guiding clients along their healing paths. Learn about Patricia's humanitarian work and how she's encouraging a conscious awakening to nature's sentience and inherent healing qualities, and discover how these natural remedies offer emotional balance and an awakening to our authentic selves.

Patricia helped design and majored in the first Women’s Studies Program at the University of Nebraska, and helped found a unique counselling centre for women students. She first discovered the remarkable effectiveness of English flower remedies in helping children with learning problems such as dyslexia, and in a counselling program for juvenile offenders. She has studied widely in the fields of healing and plant science, including Waldorf education and Goethean plant science. Patricia has also authored Flowers That Heal, which describes the fundamental principles of flower essence therapy.

What is the connection between molecular biology, gene regulation and consciousness? In today's episode with Garret Yount, PhD we discuss his great passion for using the scientific method to explore consciousness and extended human capacities. We invite you to step into the intriguing realms of how a scientist approaches energy healing, the human biofield and psychokinesis. We consider a lucid dreaming study that altered gene expression, dream work that helped individuals with PTSD, and a new experiment on telepathy focusing on the gut brain. Author of "Why Vibes Matter and How to Use Our Energy Wisely", Garret also explores the concept of the science of vibrations through three types of vibes - conscious, subconscious and superconscious, and how they shape our daily lives. We delve into the phenomenon of neural coupling, emotional residue and conditioned spaces - including a compelling experiment with random number generators reacting to a conditioned space. Ultimately, we consider the limitations of the current scientific paradigm of materialism and ask what the implications would be for us to have an inaccurate model of reality. This episode is a must-listen for anyone intrigued by the intersection of science and spirituality.

Garret Yount, PhD, is a Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. He began his formal studies in consciousness research with a small grant from the Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1995, which allowed him to work with biofield practitioners and spiritual healers in the laboratory. Dr. Yount was among the first scientists to be awarded a Research Project Grant from the National Institutes of Health to study energy healing. He has spoken nationally and co-authored peer-reviewed papers on the topic of establishing rigorous guidelines for research into biofields and micro-psychokinesis. Dr. Yount obtained his BS from the Department of Molecular & Cell Biology at the Pennsylvania State University, and his PhD from the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

The Future of Wellness - Connecting to Who You Are with Michael Oruch
play

10/07/22 • 51 min

Joining us today is President Emeritus of the Zero Balancing Board of Directors, Michael Oruch, an established Zero Balancing teacher and practitioner based in New York City. Michael views Zero Balancing as a vehicle for health, wellness and positive change both personally and collectively, and was inspired to teach Zero Balancing (or ZB) following years of study and tutelage with the modality Founder, Dr. Fritz Smith. We discuss how Zero Balancing uses fulcrums to clear vibration held in the bone, joints and the energy field of clients, how working with bone connects to our ancestors and why releasing held tension in the body catalyzes self-reorganisation. We address the key ZB concept of "interface" - how the practitioner navigates the boundary between structure and energy through touch. Michael shares his insights regarding how healing is about accessing that which is hidden, as we free ourselves from suffering and resolve trauma in the body and the mind. Key aspects of Zero Balancing are discussed including expanded states of consciousness and what it means to “hurt good’. Interestingly, we explore how a touch-based modality can be used for remote healing through the use of surrogates.

Michael has taught Zero Balancing extensively in both the US and internationally, and has additionally spent many years studying Qigong, Tai Chi and related forms, which he has taught at New York University. He has made significant contributions to the ZB community as a Mentor Faculty Advisor, through teacher trainings, and serving on various committees. He has also personally developed three Zero Balancing classes and two Zero Balancing training DVD's. Michael believes Zero Balancing can help a practitioner to be more present and clear in the world, with themselves, and each person they contact.
