Before the war, Ukraine was home to thousands of freight brokers and dispatchers that worked on the US market. I spent three years (2017-2020) managing an outsourced US freight brokerage in Kyiv. Since Ukrainian men are not allowed to leave due to martial law, I know many women living in
Kyiv that have left the country. Currently, they are working remotely all over the world. Interestingly enough, I got to speak to Owais Khan. Prior to the war, Owais, a male from Pakistan, was living in Kyiv and working as a freight broker for the US market. During our conversation, he recounted his experiences when Russia invaded Ukraine.
