It’s a crossover with the fellas from the West Box Score podcast. We recently had Alex & D-Bot on to have an impromptu discussion about the whirlwind of folks buying all that GameStop stock. We also got into the idea of gatekeeping, and debate if it’s still necessary for today’s culture. Of course - we get into some wax stories, while reminiscing about listening to music via good ol' FM radio. Lastly, we hear about Donald’s (aka D-Bot, aka Dragga Beats) inspiration for getting into the beat-making game, plus Alex’s start working for some of Cali’s most famous radio stations over the years.

We kick off S2 in full quarantine mode - as we lightly discuss the effect Covid-19 has had amongst the vinyl community. We re-cap the long year that's already been 2020 and discuss ways to dig for records responsibly (and ethically) during these unprecedented times. Sonny embraces solitude, while Rick lashes out at the Discogs marketplace ecosystem.

From the hoods of SGV, to the streets of Japan, our guest - DJ Spiñorita - always holds it down for her music craving peeps. She joins us to talk about her DJ upbringing, early struggles, and how it all came together for a DJ who now spins across the globe. We talk about her recent tour in Japan and her own vinyl-digging club, Club Diggies. We also speak to her passion for pushing new artists – via the decks and her NTS radio show, Casual Play. She stresses the importance of paying it forward in this DJ hustle and what it means to represent the culture as she moves forward. Lastly, it’s show-and-tell featuring some of her favorite records, as she puts together her dream set list.

Our season one penultimate episode is a music nerd’s dream! We sat down with freelance writer, editor, and journalist - Andy Hermann, and the former vice-president of content at ARTISTdirect.com - Doug Kamin - to talk about the ever-changing landscape that is called “new media.” We re-live the glory days of what it was like to cover the music industry before the boom of blogs, podcasts, and streaming. We also get Doug and Andy’s takes on the future of vinyl collecting, and why Doug believes it to be just another fad. Andy and Doug also recount some of their personal favorite interviews that they conducted with the likes of Cameron Crowe, James Murphy, Stewart Copeland, and James Blunt. Lastly, Andy shares some of his favorite records with us, before he and Doug take on The Fox Crate DJ Challenge.

We got our very own Christmas special! We take a minute to talk about some of our favorite, and least favorite, holiday tunes of all time (mostly on wax). We also try to figure out the recipe for making a hit Christmas song - and debate if the genre lends itself more to a particular style of music. Lastly, Rick talks about some of the Christmas coal he’s received over the years, when digging for records.
