FDP Special - Akhil Vyas; Arsenal Supporters Trust
The Football Drop
02/02/24 • 71 min
If you're an avid listener, you'll know we strive to be neutral (haha) where possible on the pod, but this special episode allows us to talk all things Arsenal. We had the pleasure to have Akhil Vyas join us on the show this week, one of the youngest ever board members of The Arsenal Supporters Trust. Akhil tells us all about the role AST plays in the running of Arsenal FC, the dynamic and relationship with previously Red & White Holdings and subsequently KSE (Kroenke Sports Entertainment), and his particular role.
Akhil also shares some of his most painful memories of being a Gooner, like the '06 UEFA Champions League final defeat to Barcelona or the horrific 6-0 demolition by Chelsea on Arsene Wenger's 1000th game in charge, and how he see's the team now with players like Saka and Martinelli flourishing.
Arsenal fans, you're going to love this!

S4 E23 - Backtrack Bill
The Football Drop
01/03/24 • 84 min
It's now 2024 and we thought we'd change things up a little, bring a different dynamic to the FDP, and bring on a guest host for the whole of Jan! Ali Campbell returns, but this time on hosting duties alongside Will & Ben. Bringing his Chelsea knowhow to the pod, singing their praises and being as biased about them as Will & Ben are to Arsenal!
The festive hectic schedule is over so the boys review the big winners and losers across the games, with a special mention of Manchester United, Chelsea & Arsenal, plus heaping praise on Luton & not so much for Sheffield United.
A brief yet distorted Euro round up this week as Will's internet decided not to play ball after an hour and a half of recording.

S4 E28 - Mighty Maidstone & Top 10's - Midfielders
The Football Drop
01/31/24 • 44 min
The magic of the FA Cup is truly alive with one of our local teams Maidstone United travelling to Ipswich, and beating them in their own backyard 2-1 with a fantastic audacious lob goal for the first. Unfortunate scenes however as 1 fan got a little too excited and dramatically fell from the tiered stands, however luckily the fan is all okay and more pride is hurt than anything else! Plus a huge upset down in Newport as Manchester United surprised their hosts with a 4-2 win.
Some big news coming from several clubs over the weekend, with the shock announcement from Liverpool FC and Jurgen Klopp, plus Xavi and Barcelona too.
Ben will be sadly taking a break for a few weeks from the podcast whilst he undergoes his operation after this weeks' episode, but Ali Campbell will be stepping in, making his predictions, and finishing our Top 10's of the season so far. This week brings you the Top 10's Midfielders which include CDM and CM, but not the traditional number 10 position.

FDP Special - Rob Jones; Sky Sports
The Football Drop
01/26/24 • 78 min
We've got a super special episode for you listeners this week! We're sure you've all watched Sky Sports News at some point, whether it's for transfer news, catch up from the weekends' games, or watching Soccer Saturday and seeing the team bounce around from stadiums all across the country. It's always informative, and sometimes even entertaining with Jeff & the team, or now with Simon & the team. But, have you ever wondered just how it all works behind the scenes? What do the reporters endure throughout the day, how do they know when it's going to be their turn to be live on screen, when they're in the studio presenting, and some huge breaking news story unfolds, how is that all communicated?
Well, Rob Jones, the Sky Sports legend joins us this week to share exactly what happens behind the scenes, and shares his awesome career and how from a young age knew he wanted to get into Sports Journalism, and just how hard he has worked to get to where he is, and the sheer joy of doing what he does for a career. Plus he shares a few mishap stories along the way for you!
Honestly, it's a fascinating episode, absolutely loved this one and we know you all will too!

S4 E30 - Chelsea - Poch Is Not The Problem & Top 10 - CAMs
The Football Drop
02/07/24 • 98 min
Ben is unfortunately, but planned, off from the podcast this week, Will was left to his own devices and the IT. It seems to have gone ok so far, let us know your thoughts...
This week Will and Guest host Ali discuss the news, this ranges Profit and Sustainability issues in the January transfer window, Jude Bellingham and that incident playing for Real Madrid against Getafe. The Messi and Ronaldo reunion that didn't happen. We then go in depth on the two rounds of PL games and go to town on Chelsea. Might be a mention or two of Arsenal, if Ali allows it.
We also, in this bumper episode, pick our top 10 CAMs. This one is a belter of an ep. Stick with it.

S4 E24 - Cups, Transfers & Top 10's - Strikers
The Football Drop
01/10/24 • 64 min
Will & Ben are joined again by Ali Campbell this week, discussing pending transfers like Eric Dier to Bayern, Jesse Lingard eyeing up a move to Barcelona (seriously, he's offered himself to them) plus a review of some of the FA Cup clashes and upsets, where the mighty Maidstone Utd are through to the 4th Round!
We couldn't do this episode without discussing Arsenal's poor form, as they continue to struggle infront of goal, and Ben ends up going on a huge rant after seemingly being triggered.
As it's the half way point of the season, we thought we'd do a review of the season so far, so throughout January we'll bring you our Top 10's of each position, this week starting with our Top 10 Strikers. A slightly heated debate here but we're a democracy afterall, so not everybody will be happy!
