03/23/21 • 47 min

It's time for another new episode of The Flickcast. The pop culture podcast about stuff nerds love. This week it's Episode 429: In the Snyder Cut. Chris is off this week (shocking, right?) so Joe welcomes "friend of the show" and Digital Trends Contributing Editor Rick Marshall to take on the task of discussing a whole bunch or new and recurring topics. Ah, who are we kidding, this show is about one big thing. Or, in this case, one long thing. Also, it's about one "new" thing. That's right, it's finally time to get in the Snyder Cut of Justice League now that it's been released to HBO Max. So, do they love it? Do they hate it? Does anyone give a shit at this point? You'll have to listen and find out. You can also check out Rick's spoiler-free review over at Digital Trends. Joe and Rick also talk a bit about Falcon and the Winter Soldier too. So if you're into that show, you'll want to listen. And don't worry, Chris will be back next week to probably talk about all this stuff again. He hates to be left out. Don't forget, if you get a moment and feel like it/can do it, consider rating or reviewing the show on Apple Podcasts. Every rating or review helps. And if you're really feeling it, consider supporting the show on Patreon. Thanks for listening! WARNING: This episode may contain discussions about COVID-19, mental health and quarantine. Hello and welcome to a brand new episode of The Flickcast. A pop culture podcast about stuff nerds love. On this week's show Joe is, unfortunately, away so Chris is joined (once again) by Rick Marshall of Digital Trends to talk about all sorts of amazing things. Some of these amazing things include the recent HBOMax/Warner Bros announcement, some favorites from all the latest Marvel, Disney and Star Wars news and what they're looking forward to in 2021. And yes, they also discuss how 2020 wasn't all bad. How do they explain "2020 wasn't all bad"? Well, by highlighting some of the many great movies, tv shows and more that came out during this very difficult year. Hey it's something, right? It wasn't all bad, just mostly bad. It's a big show with lots going on. Thanks for listening and Happy Holidays! WARNING: This episode may contain discussions about COVID-19, mental health and quarantine. Yes, Christmas is just around the corner. Not only do you get a brand new episode of The Flickcast this week but next week it's Christmas and you get a visit from Santa, assuming you're on the "good" list and not the "naughty" one. No judgements either way, though. You do you. On this week's show Chris and Joe are joined by guest Dave Caolo of the Home Work podcast and Table Top Hero to talk about working at home, ways to ensure mindfulness during these stressful times, Dungeons & Dragons and a whole bunch of other cool stuff. And yes, they also manage to talk about the recent Warner Bros./HBO Max announcement and some of the recent Star Wars and Marvel announcements and what they might all mean. The trio also offer a few last minute gift ideas for those of you who've waited to get that special someone in your life, well, something special. You know who you are. It was a lot of stuff to cover. In fact, they really didn't have time get into all of it so on next week's show Chris and Joe will go deeper into all the announcements, what next year in entertainment and pop culture might look like and some of their favorite things from 2020. Yes, 2020 wasn't all bad. Look for that episode soon. In the meantime, though, sit back and relax and enjoy this week's episode of The Flickcast. It's a good one. Thanks for listening. The Flickcast - 410: Talking Horror With Scott Weinberg
play

10/26/20 • 71 min

On this episode Chris and Joe once again dive into a subject they don't discuss very often: horror movies. That's right, in honor of Halloween coming up this weekend, the boys talk about some of their favorite horror films, what they like and don't like about the genre and generally what scares them. But, to be honest, they're not experts on horror movies. Fortunately, they've brought in a very special guest to help: Scott Weinberg. That's right, noted film critic, podcaster, producer and horror film expert Scott Weinberg is on the show this week. So you know this episode is gonna be chock full of some spooky horror movie goodness (and badness). And that's not all. The trio also get back to their roots with discussions on their first horror movie experiences, the movies that made them fall in love with movies and why Scott loves horror movies so much. Plus, the usual more. In fact, much, much more. It's a great episode. Thanks for listening. WARNING: This episode contains discussions about COVID-19, mental health and quarantine.
