Janelle G. Simmons is the Director of New Student Services at North Carolina Central University. Previously, she was the Assistant Director of Student Orientation and Family Programs at Stony Brook University. Janelle received a B.A. in Social Sciences Interdisciplinary with a minor in Women's Studies, and her M.S.W. with a specialization in Student-Community Development from Stony Brook University. She is currently a doctoral student pursuing her Ed.D. in Higher Education and Adult Learning from Walden University. Janelle has over ten years of experience in student development to include Residential Life and transition programming. She has taught the First Year Seminar and a course on academic integrity.
