Revolution is underway as technology revolutionizes the way we live our daily lives. From robotic kitchens to autonomous driving, the advancements in technology are changing the way we communicate, work, and play. It’s an exciting time to be alive, and every day, we witness new innovations that make our lives easier, more efficient, and more enjoyable. We must embrace these changes and learn to adapt to them because the future is now and technology is leading the way.

Alan welcomes Scott Bocarnick is a Policy and Executive Communications Specialist at Consumer Technology Association. CES is a trade show where over 130,000 attendees gather to explore the latest technological developments in different industries. A.I. technology is being used in vehicles to scan for dangers, slow down cars, and provide alerts. Innovations such as A.R. windshields, gaming vests that deliver pain, and self-driven tractors are being introduced. Companies such as L’Oreal is launching “Beauty Tech,” which includes an infrared light blow dryer and an A.I. that adjusts makeup colors to suit one’s face. In terms of start-ups, Eureka Park showcases innovative products such as a rolling robotic ramen kitchen. Technology is on the move!

Coming up next at the CES, Alan interviews Stefano Genco – the Global Head of Super Audio and Nuance Audio at EssilorLuxottica. EssilorLuxottica is well-known for its brands, Ray-Ban and Oakley, and has created a pair of glasses that come with integrated unit solutions for mild to moderate hearing loss. Around 1.2 billion people have mild to moderate hearing loss, and these glasses are designed to recover missed conversations caused by ambient noises or hearing problems. They are lightweight, stylish, and cost a fraction of the price of traditional hearing aids. Stefano is utilizing glasses with built-in technology that enables recording and video capturing, music playback, texting, and conversations with A.I. Furthermore, these glasses can connect to the internet, allowing for internet browsing on the go.

Next is Chris Sheldrick is the co-founder of What3Words, a company that has developed a location precision technology capable of mapping the entire world using 3-meter squares. Each square has been assigned a unique combination of 3 words, making it easier to share your exact location, particularly in emergency situations.

Let’s talk about tractors! Alan is joined by Troy Aberle, a former salesman for John Deere, to discuss the autonomous tractor currently being showcased. Troy explains that equipment has had to become larger and more capable of performing various tasks due to the challenges faced by the agriculture industry, such as labor and safety standards, performance and profitability, and accommodating high land prices and input costs. All these factors have contributed to John Deere’s current position in the market. Alan asks Troy what stands out the most regarding all this new technology. Troy replies, “Making people’s lives easier.”

Up next is Luke Aberle is a YouTube influencer who tests products and provides feedback from a kid’s perspective. He has been doing it since he was nine. When asked about his first impression of CES, he said that it was incredible to see major companies innovating and creating a better lifestyle and experience for the average consumers. The AI side of things, from agriculture to coffee-making and autonomous driving, excites him the most so far.

Joining Alan next is, Sterling Pratz is the Chief Executive Officer at Car IQ. It’s a company developing innovative technology allowing users to make purchases through their vehicle for in-car entertainment options. The technology also enables the car to connect with merchants and pay for services like fuel, EV charging, or even invoices at brick and mortar stores without requiring a credit card. This technology creates a one-touch payment experience for drivers and helps create an identity for their vehicles.

BJ Killeen – an automotive journalist and the Voice of Reason – joined Alan in wrapping up the show. They shared their thoughts on the highlights of the 2024 CES event, where technology once again proved its mind-boggling capabilities. One notable innovation is Amazon’s partnership with a car manufacturer that offers language technology to explain all the features of the car, similar to a virtual user manual. Alan was impressed by a flying car, while BJ was fascinated by the Xpeng AeroHT eVTOL, a flying supercar that doubles as a personal transport vehicle and offers an extended range for electric vehicles. They also discussed the “See Beyond Tires” from GoodYear, which provides drivers with real-time information about their tires, the road conditions, and the need for air, among other things. LG and Amazon are also making strides in the car in...

The Drive with Alan Taylor - The New 2024 Audi RS E-Tron GT, Is On Fire! | #556

11/12/23 • 87 min

Joining Alan today is Karl Brauer, an Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror, board member, and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. The good news is that the strike is over, and workers will now receive a 25% pay raise, lots of incentives, reduced time for tier advancements, and access to working in the battery plants. However, Toyota sales are not going well, as EV cars are taking longer to sell. Elon Musk started dropping prices, forcing other players to lower theirs. This strategy of “pulling sales forward” is like taking three months of organic purchasing and crunching them all in two weeks by lowering the price, but it can result in not having anything to sell for the next two months. Significant cuts in the production of new plants to produce batteries and cars have also been made.

The latest study from iSeeCars is about “Retained Value,” which essentially means what a car is worth five years later. The average car retains around 61.2% of its value, which is excellent for consumers. To see the complete list of top 25 cars that retain their value, (see link below). The top 10 cars that hold their value the most are Porsche 911, Porsche 718, Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Wrangler & Unlimited, Honda Civic, Subaru BRZ, Chevrolet Camaro, Toyota CHR, Subaru Crosstrek, and Toyota Corolla Sedan. On the other hand, the top 10 cars that didn’t hold their value so well are all luxury cars, namely Maserati Quattroporte, BMW 7 series, Maserati Ghibli, BMW 5 Series Sedan Hybrid, Cadillac Escalade ESV, BMW X5, Infiniti QX80, Maserati Levante, Jaguar XF, and Audi A7.

Alan talks about his GT 500 Mustang that he purchased and inquires about the 2024 Mustang. It turns out that it’s not all new, as they’ve only tweaked the suspension while using the same platform. Karl drove the six-cylinder convertible Mustang, which had a nice drive with 315 horsepower. He enjoyed driving it as it was nicely equipped.

Coming up next is George Kennedy III, the co-founder of Cartender.com and Vice President of the New England Motor Press Association. He is a contributor to U.S. News & World Report, CarGurus, Forbes Wheels, and also writes for The Drive. In a recent segment, George and Alan discussed the 2024 Audi RS E-Tron-GT, a sharp-looking, sharp-handling performance electric car that is hotter than hot.

The standard GT is priced around $105K, and the cost is naturally higher based on performance. Alan mentioned that with the Dodge Demon 170, which has 1020 horsepower and good fuel economy, the internal combustion engine has reached its limit. George was impressed by the presence of the Audi car, which is a blast to drive. It is a top-of-the-line car with 637 horsepower, 4-wheel steering, and can go from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds.

George also drove the 2024 Honda Civic Type R, which he found fantastic. It is more focused, with a turbocharged inline-four engine that produces 315 horsepower and a 6-speed manual transmission. It is a refined yet punchy daily driver, and a reliable vehicle that comes with a factory-backed warranty.

Lauren Fix, Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports, discusses a concerning issue about the amount of data that cars are collecting about their drivers. According to her, car manufacturers such as Nissan and Kia have been collecting personal information, including sexual activity, politics, race, and religion, and selling it to third parties. Even when you plug your phone into your car, they collect data from it. Mozilla Foundation is one of the organizations responsible for this. Lauren also sheds light on the 2026 kill switch mandate, where cars will scan drivers’ eyes or as you push the start button detect if they have consumed alcohol or any other substance, that could impair their driving. If any impairment is detected, the car will not start, or it will pull over and shut off. Lauren also talks about California’s attempt to eliminate gas-powered vehicles through the CARS Act (Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act), which has caused outrage among the people. Lauren advises everyone to contact their Senators and local representatives to express their concerns about the government’s intervention in private industry.

Contributor and friend Lauren Fix, Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports starts the show with Alan as they dive into what is considered to be the 100 billion dollar self-driving scam. Tesla has to recall over 360,000 of their vehicles to update their self-driving software. Too many accidents with drivers depend on what Tesla sold them as a self-driving vehicle, as they take a cat nap at the wheel. Lauren says a lot of things need to be ironed out before the next level of self-driving is implemented, from government regulations to mother nature. Next up is Karl Brauer, Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror, and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. The duo discusses the lack of infrastructure for electric vehicles. Out of the 149,000 infrastructures placed throughout the country, only 11,000 of them are Level 3, which charges 3-20 miles a minute. The national average is 1 charging station for every 2280 residents. For level 3 charging stations, 1 for every 11,602 residents. Shifting gears and topics, Karl test-drove the 2023 Lamborghini Urus Performante, with 657 horsepower that will take you 0-62 in 3.3 seconds. With its carbon fiber panels, this lightweight SUV also has a “Rally” mode too which you can take, well off-road. BJ Killeen, Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason drops in with a few tidbits of information. Bentley is now ready to re-introduce its W12 engine, showcased in the new Bentley Batur. So, car collectors get ready! BJ also shed a little news on Faraday Future will soon release its electric vehicle, the FF91 Futures. BJ is not to sure how well Faraday will fare. Closing the show today is Stephen Cole Smith, Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports, bringing what’s new in the motorsports world. Underdog Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won the Daytona 500. A one car team, owned by Brad Dougherty, the first black owner to win the Daytona 500. Fontana Raceway will hold its last race this weekend before being torn down. A smaller track with more action will take it’s place. Stephen shares that he will be attending the Emilia Concourse, to which he prefers to attend because it’s a little more relaxed. Jeff Gordon will the honoree this year, and Stephen say’s it’s well deserved. Join us for our next episode as Ed Justice Jr., Brian Moody, George Kenney III, and BJ Killeen bring us more on what’s happening in the autoworld.

Alan welcomes back long-time friend and contributor BJ Killeen, Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason. Recalls! If you get a notice from the dealership that there is a recall on your vehicle, you must follow up and get it taken care of. It is usually a safety issue. BJ inquires if Alan watched the Super Bowl ads, so he didn’t miss out? His take, automotive commercials were a bit tasteless. Before BJ leaves she gets a little political as she announces that the Biden administration finally issued a rule that Tesla has to open up their supercharging stations to all-electric vehicles. To make it standardized for everyone. Alan questions what kind of kickback will Tesla get for all the money it invested to install these charging stations. Up next is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com and KBB.com stops by to share a few tidbits. The average transaction prices are down a bit, as luxury vehicles are in high demand. However, there are five vehicles that no one is buying but should. The Alfa Romero Julia Performance Sedan, Alfa Romero Stelvio SUV, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Jeep Gladiator, and the Infinity QX80. All great vehicles and over 77 plus days supply, which means you have a lot more time to get your hands on one of these. George Kennedy III, Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report, makes a pit stop to chat with Alan about physics and unpredictability when driving in snow and mud. The New England Motor Press association winter driving testing is on the hunt for the best vehicles. Winners will be announced sometime in April. George has a few favorites that were showcased such as the Ram 1500 Rebel, the Land Rover Defender 90 to the Subaru Outback which drives well in the winter weather and is great for the rest of the year as well. George says having the right tires on and ground clearance plays a big factor. George test-drove a Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid. There were a few things that George liked but, in comparison to its competitors, it doesn’t hold a candle. However, the Outlander drives “well enough”. Stellar interior and is good enough for a day-to-day drive. Wrapping up the show today with Alan is Stephen Cole Smith, Editor in-Chief for Car Coach Reports. Daytona 500 is coming up and the two to watch out for are Alex Bowman and Kyle Busch. Stephen is more interested in seeing how the new race car is gonna hold up. Hopefully, with all the improvements made, this car will help make Daytona one hell of a race! So what has Stephen test driven lately? The 2023 Cadillac CT5 Blackwing. With a beautiful, smooth ride, 668 horsepower, and a manual transmission, this beauty takes you from 0-30 in just a few seconds. You’ll feel like you’re flying.

Alan welcomes Ed Justice Jr. – Justice Brothers, Inc. President and CEO to start the show as they discuss the future of automobiles. Ed feels that no matter what the direction, sustainability seems to be the hot topic when it comes to the future. There is no ‘one’ solution to the problem says Ed. However, one car manufacturer has turned their attention to finding better solutions to appease all, and that’s Toyota. Contributor and friend George Kennedy III, Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report, For George, he believes hydrogen is the future. From decreasing the CO2 emissions and decarbonizing, the Industrial world is taking a close look at what can be done. George test drove the 2023 Mazda CX30. An engaging car, rewarding driving experience with lots of room. Only one problem, the infotainment system. Extremely unintuitive! Up next is BJ Killeen-Automotive journalist and Voice of Reason she’s here for a quick pit stop as share how Honda is coming out with a vehicle that is affordable. Without all the bells and whistles, the new Honda CRVLX is basic but affordable. Onto what was once was an affordable pony car, has become not so affordable the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse that starts off at $60k. It’s beautiful but not reachable for most. Closing the show is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com and KBB.com is here to share how the auto industry is changing up a bit. Hybrids over Electric cars. Factoid: nearly 25% consider an electrified vehicle, twice as many look at a hybrid. The rich or early adopters can afford electric vehicles. Like George, Brian believes that hydrogen is the future with 0 emissions. He shares a list of the top 10 electric vehicles that people consider buying, you can view the list on his website AutoTrader.com. (Link Below) Before he leaves, Brian says that “choice is the key to the future of automobiles”. Automakers know that customers want powertrain options, therefore, Ford and Toyota has changed their motto that conforms to carbon neutrality. Lauren Fix, the Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports, has warned that if the United Auto Workers (UAW) decide to go on strike, it could cause major trouble. UAW is demanding an increase in wages of up to $150 an hour, which could significantly increase the cost of vehicles. However, it’s important to note that the majority of these raises won’t go to the workers, but rather to the UAW. This has been criticized as a money-grab by the union, who are threatening to strike if their demands aren’t met.

To help consumers save money, Lauren has provided a list of the top 20 lowest-priced brand new cars you can buy. The list includes the 2023 Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Ford Maverick, Toyota Corolla Hatchback, Subaru Impreza, Mazda CX30, Toyota Corolla, Buick Envista, Hyundai Kona, Chevrolet Tracks, Hyundai Elantra, Volkswagen Jetta, Nissan Kicks, Nissan Sentra, Honda Venue, Kia Soul, Kia Forte, Kia Rio, Mitsubishi Mirage, and Nissan Versa. You can find the full report on her website CarCoachReports.com.

Up next is George Kennedy III. George is a co-founder of Cartender.com and the Vice President of the New England Motor Press Association. He contributes to U.S. News & World Report, CarGurus, Forbes Wheels, and The Drive. George recently test-drove the 2023 Ford Raptor R, which boasts a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine with 700 horsepower, larger tires, higher ground clearance, unique shock tuning, and a starting price of $107k. It’s a fantastic vehicle, and there’s no replacement for the sound of a V8 engine. Compared to the Dodge Ram TRX, the Raptor R would win in a race. However, regarding everyday driving, the Raptor R’s gas consumption is relatively high. Lastly, George mentions he also test-drove the newest Toyota Sienna Mini Van, a hybrid, and says he would gladly take this vehicle any day. It’s like driving a cruise ship, very comfortable.

Our good friend BJ Killeen, an automotive journalist and voice of reason, shares some interesting updates from the world of automobiles. London has implemented ultra-low emission zone cameras that scan the registration number of your vehicle and access your emissions-related information. If your vehicle does not comply with the emission standards, you will receive a fine of around $16.00. California may also adopt a similar system in the future. VINFast has opened a stock offering and while it initially went up, BJ advises getting out now before it crashes. Mitsubishi is discontinuing the Mirage, which was the only vehicle priced under 20k, making affordable cars increasingly rare. Fisker Automotive has introduced the Alaska, the world’s most sustainable electric pickup truck. It boasts the world’s biggest cup holder and can extend cargo space up to 5 feet. The truck is also incredibly fast.

On the show today, Alan was joined by Karl Brauer, an Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror, and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. During their discussion, Karl shared the latest findings from ISeeCars that revealed the scarcity of affordable used cars priced at $20,000 or less in the market. According to the study, there has been a 47.7% increase in the average price of a used car, with 20% more mileage compared to 2019. For instance, a used Honda CRV or Toyota Rav 4, which were previously available for slightly over $20k in 2019, have now gone up by 37 to 41% with twice the mileage. As they closed the show, Karl and Alan talked about the Concord at Pebble Beach. Karl noted that there was a lot to see, ranging from the Hennessy Roadster to Infiniti’s newest concept car, a QX80 3-row SUV, and other cool stuff.

Alan welcomes back contributor and long time friend, BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason. She delivers news from the auto industry, like the Kia Stinger is leaving the fleet – “A fun car to drive, and fast!” Kia will be making a tribute limited edition version, a thousand to be exact for sale worldwide. Next, Porsche is introducing its 2024 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe, a third generation, redesigned, and offers 3 different drive trains. It promises driving pleasure on every terrain. At last, JLR, or Jaguar Land Rover, has rebranded itself to focus on the 4 sub brands, Range Rover, Discover, Defender, and Jaguar. They wanted to combine their house of brands to enhance the uniqueness of their character British marks. Up next, to deliver more auto news is another contributor and good friend Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. With what is happening in China, we are surprised to find out that the New 2023 Lincoln Nautilus SUV is being built there. Volvo, and Buick also have vehicles that are being made and shipped from China. With the government wanting 67% of the vehicles on the road to be electric by 2032, China holds the majority of the mines that host the minerals needed to build the batteries of said electric vehicles. Are we gonna destroy earth here to fulfill the supply and demand? Later Lauren Fix will share with us what she read in an article from China’s newspaper in regards to that. Karl and Alan switch topics to inquire about the top most recalled vehicle. Drum Roll! It’s the Tesla Model Y, in fact, Karl says the next top five slots, Tesla holds four of them, and Porsche takes the last spot. Study was taken over a 10 year span. Jumping in the hot seat next is Lauren Fix, Editor in-Chief for Car Coach Reports. Lauren is here to to share a little tidbit about tax credits and electric vehicles. If your electric vehicle is made in the U.S. you get a $3750 tax credit. If 40% or more of your battery for the E.V. is built here, you get the other $3750 tax credit. Sixteen new models are eligible for the new tax incentive. You can visit Laurenfix.com to review the list of eligible vehicles. Being that China owns 80% of the mineral mines, she had read in a Chinese Political newspaper that they plan to use the control of the earth minerals to squeeze the U.S. and the world to comply. They are planning an export ban on rare earth magnets and corner the market. Closing the show today with Alan is Brian Moody, Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com and KBB.com. Brian is here to let us know that the prices of used cars are slowly going up. However, he also brings us a list of three row SUV’s that are under twenty thousand. The 2016 Buick Enclave, comfortable SUV, 2014 Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, Yukon XL, look for an LT, Dodge Durango 2016, ford expedition 2014, Honda Pilot 2016, 2017 Mazda CX9, look for signature trim level, 2015 Nissan Armada, 2015 Toyota Highlander and the 2021 Nissan Rogue. Before Brian leaves, he shares that he test drove the new 2024 Mazda CX90 Inline 6 turbo. A nicely laid out three row SUV, Mazda offers alternative powertrain choices. It also has four modes to optimize its power delivery. Very nice ride. Well, that’s it for this episode, join us on the next episode as BJ Killeen returns along with Steven Cole Smith, George Kennedy III, and of course Brian Moody.

BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason brings us news about the Biden administration tightening the noose around automaker’s necks. There is a new set of EPA Emissions standards that will force the automakers to make 67% of electric light-duty vehicles and 46% of medium-duty electric vehicles by 2032. They hope to ban gasoline engines and force people to buy electric vehicles. People can barely afford to buy cars now, it will only get worse. Electric Company says this is unrealistic due to a lack of infrastructure. BJ says you need to speak to your local representatives to stop the government from getting rid of gas engines. Up next is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com and KBB.com. He shares that the Chevrolet Camaro will be going away. GM’s last model will be released in 2024. It’s just not selling. Alan inquired if GM will still be responsible for replacement parts. Yes, they are obligated to continue to make parts for discontinued vehicles until the majority of their warranties for that particular car have expired. Before Brian takes his leave, he touches on the situation with the EPA Emissions. Reducing tailpipe emissions is the goal, however, it’s forcing the automakers to make more EVs. Which is why SEMA, is so important. They are the voices of the car enthusiast’s world. Brian says’s on the flip side of this, it keeps it sourced here in America. Lauren Fix, Editor-In-Chief for Car Coach Reports.com shares how the government’s ultimate goal is to make it illegal to drive a gas-powered vehicle. She says she speaks the truth when she recommends not buying an electric vehicle. Switching subjects, she informs us that it’s the 75th Anniversary for Jaguar, as the last of the F Type R75 gasoline-powered, V8 convertible sports car will be made. She won’t be surprised if they come back with an all electric version. As the evolution of cars continue, a new feature for automaker’s to continue to make money off of you, is after you have purchased your vehicle and or leased it, there will be subscriptions to use certain elements in your car. For example, BMW has a subscription for seat warmers. If you want to warm up, you have to pay and be a subscriber. Closing the show today is George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender.com, and the Vice President of the New England Motor Press Association. He contributes to U.S. News & World Report, CarGurus, Forbes Wheels, and here on The Drive. He announces that the V6 echo diesel for Wrangler is no more, and how the 4XE is the best selling plug-in hybrid in America and will be the next sensible option. Switching gears, George shares a few tidbits of the New York Auto Show. Very impressed with the Genesis GV80 Coupe (concept) car. Though it doesn’t fit into the category of a coupe for George, he still feels it’s a sharp-looking vehicle. He was there for the impressive unveiling of the Lamborghini Revuelto Hybrid v12 super car. Join us for the next episode BJ Killeen, Karl Brauer, Lauren Fix and Brian Moody bring us more of what’s hot and what’s not in this ever evolving auto world.

Alan welcomes contributor and friend Lauren Fix, Editor-in-Chief for Car Coach Reports. Lauren delivers another round of reality discussing the recession and how it is affecting everyone. She attended the Amelia Island Concours, which is now operated by Hagerty, and was impressed with the 4 amazing auctions that generated over 178.4 million dollars – a new record in sales. Vehicles such as a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT, Ferrari Dino’s Pagani Zonda, 1966 Ferrari 250, a 2015 McLaren P1, and the 1935 Voison c25 Aerodyne, to name a few. Lauren also shared that she was a guest on Greatest of All Time with Peyton Manning, Season 1 episode 2, to discuss the top 10 vehicles of all time. You can visit her website at carcoachreports.com to view the list. Before she leaves, Lauren shares how a city in the U.K. has become the first 15-minute city, which means that from your home, it will only take you 15 minutes to get to work, store, or anything else you may need. You can walk, ride share, catch a bus, ride a bike, or drive your electric car. However, should you plan to leave the city, you need permission from your state officials. Up next in the driver’s seat for a quick spin is George Kennedy III, co-founder of Cartender.com, and the Vice President of the New England Motor Press Association. He contributes to U.S. News & World Report, CarGurus, Forbes Wheels, and here on The Drive. He test-drove the new stealth performance 2023 Ford Expedition. With its 440 horsepower, twin-turbo echo boost V6, it’s fast, smooth, and maneuvers with ease. Overall, a good fit, and ride. With George being a motorsports enthusiast, Alan switched topic and asked, “what race would YOU like to do?” “Desert racing,” is his reply. George says farewell as he and Alan reminisce about their experience in the ‘sandbox’. Bringing up the rear is Steven Cole Smith, Editor-in chief of Car Coach Reports. Steven shares a bit of controversy that happened at Daytona when Team Acura won by cheating. How? By rigging their computer to show that the tires were at legal racing pressure, when they weren’t. However, Honda Acura did not want to win that way, so they turned themselves in. NASCAR allowed them to keep the win and the Rolex’s but everything else was taken away. George says that motorsports racing is back at full force. People are coming back, sell out crowds are everywhere. Before George leaves, Alan inquires if he got to drive anything new. A Lexus R350 hybrid, and an Aston Martin DBX 707. Aston Martin’s massive SUV with 697 horsepower, was built strong, and was a lot of fun to drive. How much? A whopping $292k. Join us on our next episode as Alan returns from his trip to Las Vegas for the debut of Dodge’s monster reveal.

play

02/03/24 • 88 min

Alan is at the Barrett Jackson event in Scottsdale. Our guest, Mark Valentino, Director of Business Development at Radford Racing School, boasts highly-skilled instructors who teach driving skills. They are developing a course program for the new Demon 170 to help drivers get the most out of it. Radford offers driving courses to people who do not own a Dodge, a youth driving program, SCCA license program, and an F4 program. They also offer courses for straight-line, drag, and twisting tracks, and have a karting truck. Recently, Radford started a new initiative called the Radford Motorsports Club for people who own a race car and want to race more affordably. The club offers a chance to race on Friday nights under the lights at the Chandler, AZ track. For more information, visit the Radford Racing School website at RadfordRacingSchool.com.

Our next guest is Rick Malone, Chief Driving Instructor of Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club, which is situated about 50 miles west of Las Vegas and is home to the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School, the Cadillac V Performance Academy, and Radical Racing Academy. The facility boasts 9.3 miles of race track and is located on just under 1000 acres of land. The largest track in North America, Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club is one of the most amazing Motorsports facilities in the United States, and is expected to surpass the Nurburgring. The facility also includes a Motorsports Country Club, 40 condos, and a two-day program that includes the use of our cars and equipment, breakfast, and the opportunity to bring along a guest who can participate in the schools.

Next up is Cameron Foremaster, who is in charge of marketing here. Craig Jackson’s Camaro is also here. First, Cameron tells us about Craig’s car and what they did to it. They installed a pro touring subframe with a torque arm rear suspension. This build was done by Barrett Jackson and other companies like Muncie speed for carbon fiber, Dynacorn on the body, and GM performance. The result is a modern performance vehicle in a first-gen body. Cameron mentions that their company, Speed Master Speed Tech, makes chassis and suspension for 1st through 3rd Gen. Camaros, Novas, Chevelles, C10 trucks from 52 all the way up through the end of OBS Ford trucks, E-body Mopar, B-body Mopar, and first-gen Mustangs.

Next is Jeff Taylor, Founder and CEO of Rover Trophy sources classic Land Rover Defenders from Spain, Italy, or Turkey and then imports them to his warehouse in Connecticut. He uses three different drive trains – LS3, Tesla, and diesel – and builds custom models, including a Woody Defender with an electric Tesla Model 3 rear Dr. unit. The starting price for one of his custom Defenders is around $199,000 and can go up to $345,000.

Our next guest is, Phil Smunt is a sales manager at Roadster Shop, a car-building company with over 30 years of experience. They specialize in offering suspension options and production-style chassis for a wide range of vehicles, including muscle cars, trucks, and cruisers. In addition, they also provide custom chassis tailored to meet their clients’ specific design preferences. They offer different chassis designs tailored to meet specific ride stances and design preferences. If someone wants a custom chassis for a car that Roadster Shop has never designed before, the process can take about 10 to 12 months to complete. The company begins by scanning the vehicle and then goes into the design phase to build the chassis to the ride stance, wheel, and tire size requested.

Up next we got Dennis Collins, the President of Collins Bros Jeep, has been in the custom Jeep business since 1984. They offer high-quality parts, accessories, and restoration services for Jeeps. They believe every Jeep that leaves their shop is unique and built to last, with hundreds of restorations under their belt. A few cars they will be selling is, a 67 Corvette Elkhart blue till Stinger restore mode, and Alex Bowling’s 70 Restomod Challenger, which he built over five years. Their highlight of the week – their 488 Ferrari Challenge race car.

Richard Norris, the owner of Rapid Dry Towels, used to work on Wall Street but now he’s in the car detailing business. As a child, he struggled to find a towel that would dry his parents’ car without having to stop and wring it out. The synthetic shammy would leave streaks and residue, so Richard decided to develop a fabric that would solve this problem. He found that off-the-shelf microfiber towels from South Korea and China were not designed for proper drying, so he created his own fabric that is now two generations ahead of anyone else who makes microfiber. The fabric was designed to be flat, so that water wouldn’t sit on the car and create streaks.

Joe Petralia from Rare Performance Motorcars talks to Alan about the auction in Scottsdale. He sold and bought two pieces: a motorcycle and...
