Isoxazolines are more selective to fleas, ticks, and mites than to mammals, including humans, dogs and cats. It has been a game changer for our flea allergic pets and treating mange cases.

Since owners are having a hard time getting into their general veterinarian, there is an increase amount of dermatologic patients trying presenting to the emergency veterinary clinic. This can be acute moist dermatitis (“hot spots”), otitis and general allergic itch. Dr. Nell Dalton, DVM (WestVet in Boise, ID) discuss this in this podcast episode. She communicates with owners that life-threatening emergencies take precedent, but she tries to accommodate dermatology patients as much as she can. Knowing these pets and clients are having their quality of life affected by the itch, lesions, etc. This may include collecting diagnostics and phoning the owner later with results or arranging a drop off appointment where the pet can stay in the clinic until time allows.

The Derm Vet Podcast - 174. Keynote at Fetch KC (August 26!)
play

06/29/23 • 16 min

I love lecturing... but this keynote will be very special to me.
On August 26, I get to cross something off of my speaker bucket list: keynote presentation. I was supposed to do this keynote last year and had to drop out after our son was diagnosed with leukemia.
So I feel so fortunate to get to finally fulfill this dream in two months. Fetch has a special place in my heart. Kansas City has a special place in my heart as a Mizzou grad and an Air Force brat who was stationed an hour away for years. This topic will also have a special place in my heart as I discuss how this medical journey with our son has changed my perspective on caregiver burden and empathy toward clients.
Check out this week's episode of The Derm Vet podcast to learn more about the keynote topic. I have a special code BOURGEOIS25 off your registration if you want to join me in KC!
