For so many of you, the struggle with food and body image trails back all the way to when you were a child. On today’s episode, you’ll hear from FFM client Kylie, about what it was like growing up as the “fat kid” in her family. She shares how comments from others affected her self esteem and in turn how this then caused her to feel shame and become secretive with her food choices. They discuss how your socioeconomic class can play a role in how you feel about food and your body. No matter what you go through in life, there’s an opportunity for you to come out stronger on the other side. That’s what happened to the guest in this episode and FFM client, Alesha. Alesha has gone through a lot of trials and tribulations over the course of her life. She navigated the trauma of multiple rapes and sexual assaults and a mysterious illness that eventually led to her eating disorder. She and Jessi chat about her experience of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and anxiety. Alesha shares her story of surviving a suicide attempt and the life-changing realization this brought her. She opens up about overcoming past traumas in therapy. Alesha also talks about how she found the FFM and got on the journey to recovery from her food and body struggles.

There are so many women that are former bikini competitors who can’t seem to shake their struggles with food and body. Between competition prep, counting macros and continually trying to keep up with their post-show appearance, it can cause a lot of food and body image issues. Today Jessi chats with former bikini competitor Arielle and her hubby Dennis to hear their experience in the fitness industry and Arielle’s experience of being apart of the FFM. She shares her experience of how she began struggling with food and body and how this led her to become a bikini competitor.
