Terra Nova Fire Part 1 - Episode 31
06/02/24 • 59 min
After a brief hiatus due to Ed always struggling with editing software and a few temper tantrums, the gang is back with an episode like no other.
In this episode, Ed dives into the Terra Nova ship / expedition in the 1910s, where three men simultaneously work together and as well as compete to be the first to get the south pole. Part 1 is going to set the stage for what will result in 4 men dying in what is perhaps one of the most complicated and ambitious expeditions up to this time in human history. This is all because Antarctica is the most inhospitable places on Earth with temps dipping to -100 to -150 Fahrenheit and winds ranging up to hurricane class speeds.
So if you want to get to the south pole, grab a warm blanket and take a listen!

Caligula on Fire - Episode 30
In this episode, Kara comes out swinging with one of the most strangest dudes in all of human history... Roman Emperor Caligula.
In four short years, Caligula reshaped the glam-life of the ultra wealthy and put together a rather strange "court" if that is even a thing today or back then.
Caligula started off with all the potential one could ask of an emperor, but quickly went tits up. While the jury is still out on this guy's rationalism for his actions; he undoubtedly accomplished great things, while also destroying himself.
Kara does a great job in this episode proving the point that the number one cause of death of being a Roman emperor... is BEING A ROMAN EMPEROR!!!

Terra Nova Fire Part 2 - Episode 32
The time as come to share the rest of the events that befell Robert Falcon Scott and his crew between January and March of 1912. If you have not listened to Episode 31. Terra Nova Fire, you might want to go back take a listen to that episode before listening to this one.
In the first part, Ed sets the stage for the world wide craze of being the first one to set foot on the southern geographic south pole. The men who explored Antarctica were next level, and humanity hasn't quite seen this type of breed of man in quite some time. Yes these explorers all knew each other and they were all competing against each other, but they carried a ton of respect for each other.
In this second part, Ed breaks down the details surrounding the fateful day (s) where not only did Scott lose all his remaining men on his team to the elements, Scott himself succumbed to Antarctica's other worldly temperatures.
But Scott's expedition wasn't a failure even though he died, the fact his crew of scientists were able to extract so much information that the results would change the world, is a feat like none other.
Go ahead and wrap up in 5 different blankets, make a cup of noodles, turn on the heat in your house, and sit back and listen to a story that will make you glad you never became an explorer.
