Rev. Dr. Jeff Smith, Senior Pastor at Wellspring UMC, reflects on the implications of Georgetown's growth for faith communities. As well, he shares the importance of radical welcome, the central gift of brokenness, and the unique hope that a "yes and" posture can be in Georgetown - and throughout the world.
__
Jeff serves as the senior pastor of Wellspring United Methodist Church on Williams Drive in Georgetown. He has been in ministry for 43 years, having begun pastoring small congregations while he was still in college. He holds a bachelors degree from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Methodist University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. He is also a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation and is certified as both an End-of-Life Coach and a Discipleship Coach.
Jeff, and his wife, Leah, moved to Georgetown in 2013, and they have made their home in the River Ridge neighborhood. They are the proud parents of a son, Philip (whom most will know as the Director of Music and Worship at FPC), and their daughter, Layne, along with their incredible spouses. They are also proud grandparents to five beautiful grandchildren.
