In today’s episode, I sit down with Max Lucado, a long-time pastor and bestselling author, to talk about loneliness.
But our conversation covers a lot more than that.
Max candidly shares that as he approaches his 70th birthday, he still deals with the same issues many of us face. People pleasing. Catastrophizing or imagining the worst case scenario. Longevity in ministry. Integrity. Staying humble. Not becoming jaded.
Sounds heavy, right?
But with his signature southern kindness, Max gently speaks into each issue with honesty and encouragement. He walks through what he personally does when these feelings bubble up inside of him and reassures us that we are all works in progress... and that we are never alone!
Friends, don’t miss this genuine and uplifting conversation!

The Conversation with Adam Weber - Episode 261 - Carlos Whittaker: 7 weeks without a Screen
play

08/14/24 • 35 min

On today’s episode of the podcast, I have a conversation with my good friend, Carlos Whittaker.
Carlos is many things (pastor, speaker, author), but you might best know him through his Instagram @loswhit.
Well, Carlos recently conducted a 7-week experiment where he didn’t look at a single screen. Think about that. Literally no screen (while traveling through airports, the tv in his home, maps on his phone... none of it!). Instead, he spent time with Benedictine monks and Amish farmers, learning the art of reconnecting with life beyond his screens.
Listen in as Carlos shares the valuable things he learned and gives us super practical steps we can take to reset our relationship with screens and step into a life of real connection with one another. Note: We also talk about our world being offended!

Adam is back for this month’s South Dakota series episode with two South Dakotans who are playing their sport at the highest level!
Walker Duehr, from Sioux Falls, SD is currently playing in the NHL for the Calgary Flames. He is the only South Dakotan to score a goal in NHL history (watch it here)! Walker credits his success to his Midwest upbringing, which taught him preparation and a strong work ethic means more than being the most skilled player on the ice.
Derrek Tuszka, from Warner, SD went from playing 9 man football to playing for NDSU to playing in the NFL. Derrek shares the uncertainty he’s felt in the ups and downs of his career... from the high of draft day to the low of getting cut - multiple times. Derrek knows the only thing he has for certain is his faith and trust in God.

In this conversation (to wrap up our 3 Episode Series on Parenting Teens), I sit down with a teenager to hear their spiritual journey and to talk about the pressures of growing up in today’s world.
To go another layer deeper, he’s a pastor’s kid.
Oh, and did I mention he’s my son?
Hudson Weber is a music-loving 17-year-old with wisdom beyond his years. Yes, I might be biased!
From his early reluctance to stand in the spotlight to his transformation into a passionate guitar player leading worship, this episode uncovers the layers behind the title 'pastor's kid.'
Listen as Hudson and I talk about the complexities of faith, family, and the pressures of growing up in the church.
I hope as you listen, you’re reminded that behind every role we play in life, there's a personal story waiting to be told.

Attention Parents of Teenagers! This is part 2 of a 3 part series on parenting teens. If you missed week 1, listen to it here.
According to the CDC, mental health problems in youth often go hand-in-hand with other health and behavioral risks like increased risk of drug use, experiencing violence, and higher risk sexual behaviors.
In part 2 of our 3 part series on raising teens, licensed therapist Mary Weber is back to discuss what issues are most common with the young patients she sees (from anxiety to busy schedules), how to teach our teens resiliency instead of rescuing them, and ways we can come alongside our teens as parents, mentors, teachers and youth leaders.
As always, Mary approaches these topics with kindness, empathy, grace and truth while sharing practical tips you can implement immediately. Plus, she gives a pep talk to parents who may want (and need) to have a difficult conversation with their kids!
Mary Weber has been a licensed therapist for 36 years and is based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She has been well trained and educated, has a mountain of experience, & a deep love for the Lord.
If you are the parent of a teenager, a youth leader in your church or if there are teens in your life who you love, don’t miss part 2 of this 3 part series.
