The Children's Hour

This week on The Children's Hour we learn all about Folk Art from Leslie Fagre, the education director at the Museum of International Folk Art, and from Armando Ortega, an 8th generation weaver from the world renown Chimayo Ortega weaving family. Plus we’ve got a review of a book about a folk art family, and we hear from the Extinction Diaries who will update us about lemurs. All of this is mixed with great music, including a new track from SaulPaul. The Kids Crew visit with producers and a young voice actor from PBS Kids new show Work It Out Wombats, which teaches kids about computational thinking, and problem solving in systematic, organized ways.

This time on The Children's Hour we explore a few of our favorite things. Genevieve goes to the opera, Corbit and Kodiak fly an airplane, and we visit with pet rescuers from Animal Humane New Mexico.

Because kids are seeing guns in so many places, The Children's Hour has tips on gun safety that hunting families have taught their kids for generations. We learn from kids who are hunters themselves on what hunting means to them, and we explore gun laws in the US and the world. Gun violence prevention begins with a conversation at home.
