Open scene is from the 1992 motion picture: "A league of their own" Starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis Jeremiah 1:4-10 NIV The Call of Jeremiah
4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
6 “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”

All or Nothing: The lesson of I Samuel 15, with Charlie Grimes
1 John 2:15-17
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” ESV version of the Holy Bible
Introducing the first King of Israel, Saul, who we will read about here today-- He seemingly lived a life of “almost” commitment to God, and up to the very end, that wasn’t at all what God wanted for him. It’s a tragic story of a man stuck in a worldly mindset-- missing the great peace and security that obeying God completely give us.
Today I want to encourage you that God is usually quite clear with his expectations, that we are truly responsible for our own actions-- and that nothing is ever hidden from God’s sight.
