Today's episode is on a topic that is near and dear to my heart: using your voice. What is it about standing up for what we believe in, speaking truth to power, and being willing to be vulnerably seen for our opinions that's so terrifying? Using your voice is often a question of -- or sign of -- your power. And for individuals who hold a minority identity, specifically BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women, using your fullest, truest voice can feel terrifying. Like one wrong move puts your job security or career in jeopardy. It can feel a lot easier to suffer silently and put your head down. But today's episode of the podcast is why being courageous and sticking your neck out is so important. Career and leadership coach Nariah Broadus talks about finding her own voice, how she supports others in amplifying their voices, and offers advice for how to have your own back (and provide a microphone for others' voices, too). Nobody wants to do a crappy, meaningless, low-paying job for their entire career, right? We all crave work that creates a sense of meaning, purpose, impact, growth, and financial stability for us. But with the academic institutions and socio-cultural pressures that built today's adults, it's not surprising that life-giving work feels hard to find. In today's episode of The Career Clarity Show, we talk with career clarity expert Tracy Timm about her journey to clarity, what makes it so important, and the pitfalls of not getting clear on what matters most to you. This was a fun interview, so we hope you love it! Show Notes:

Grief. It’s a complicated emotion.

It’s one we expect to feel over the loss of a loved one, when someone precious to us has died.

Grief is not an emotion we expect to feel about work. Anger, frustration, dread, boredom, indifference — sure.

But grief happens, too.

We absolutely feel loss, especially when faced with the “death” (it sounds dramatic, I know) of an opportunity. Or maybe the death of the idea of your future career path.

That experience can be unexpectedly devastating.

And if you don’t know what the 5 stages of grief are, you can spend years of your career languishing in them.
