The Boxing Breakdown
08/27/21 • 49 min
Exclusive behind the scenes coverage of the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame featuring Roy Jones Junior, Tito Trinidad and more.
August 20th through the 22nd, the Fifth Annual Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame event was held, with the induction ceremony being on Sunday at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Sound Waves Theater, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Roy Jones, Jr.: “Ya’ll” Must Have Forgot!” That was the first of several rap songs Jones did to the delight of the crowd! He went onto say how great he was and that he took from Muhammad Ali how also to be an entertainer.
Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe: Atlantic City is my second home. I love it. It’s nice to be in the Hall of Fame. Keep my name out of your mouth, and I won’t break my foot out of yer ass.
Steve Weisfeld: Thank you, Henry, for the introduction and 40 years of friendship. Thanks to Larry Hazzard for giving me the opportunity to work here. Thanks to Ray and Angelo for giving me this great honor.
Ron Katz: Worked with Butch Lewis and Abercrombe Associates.
Murad Muhammad: Talked about taking Roy Jones, Jr. to the heavyweight title. Took a kid from the Philippines, Manny Pacquaio, putting him on shows. Told Don King we will make millions. He said 2 million for you and 4 million for me.
Marc Abrams: This is an incredible honor. When Ray called me a couple of years ago, I was surprised. I asked if I was even on the ballot, for I would have voted for myself. Thanks to Don Elbaum for giving me my first job. There are so many to thank. Ed Keenan, the best PR man in the business. I worked for the AC Seagulls basketball team playing a Florida team. My father and I walked over to this guy from their team named Roy Jones, Jr. Thanks to all and God Bless.
Al Bernstein: No show
Felix “Tito” Trinidad: Former champ talked about an honor to fight Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker. He may have talked the longest with an interpreter.
Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik: I’m not much of a talker, but it’s here I won my title from Jermain Taylor.
Joey Eye: Henry Hascup said, “When Stallone was running through the streets of Philadelphia, he picked up a little guy, Joey Eye. From the movie “Creed,” he alone got an award.”
“Mighty” Ivan Robinson: I want to thank all of you for showing me love and respect.
Give thanks to Michael Spinks for moving up to take the heavyweight title. Even Ali fought here as an amateur and said, looking at the ocean, “this is the biggest lake I have ever seen!” Thanks to Don King, “Slim” Robinson, for showing me the game. Thanks to “Iron” Mike Tyson, Julian “The Hawk” Jackson, Art Pelulla, who had Rickey Parkey who scored the quickest knockout here, a young man who in 1990 won an Olympic Bronze medal who got stuck in the eye or would have been Olympic champ. He fought with his jaw broken in two places, and I had to pull his teeth out so he could continue in IBF bantam champ Tim Austin. Thanks, Ray McCline. I love you. I love you.

FORMER IBF WORLD CHAMPION Cornelius "K9" Bundrage more than just a contender.
The Boxing Breakdown
08/24/20 • 66 min
The Boxing Breakdown host Mark Roxey chats with former IBF Super Middle Weight Champion of the World and Former Contender Celebrity Mr. Cornelius "K9" Bundrage.
The Interview spans "k9's" storied career and his early career at the world famous "Kronk" gym. Training under Hall of Fame Inductee Mr. Emmanuel Stewart. Roxey Probs Bundrage's powerful climb to the top of the sport and his current life after boxing in the ring.
A little about Cornelius "K9" Bundrage.
Cornelius "K9" Bundrage. (born April 25, 1973) is an American professional boxer. He is a two-time former world champion, having held the IBF junior middleweight title twice between 2010 and 2015. In 2006 he was a contestant on season two of the Contender reality TV show, where he reached the semi-finals.
Starting out in boxing, Bundrage was a top prospect, remaining undefeated for ten years, which saw his record at (21-0, 13 KOs). As his alias K9 suggests, Bundrage had a reputation of being a dog inside the ring, damaging his opponents with fierce combinations. Cornelius' professional boxing record stands at (32-4, 19 KO's). Bundrage has shared the ring with 7 former world champions during his professional boxing career. Bundrage is currently a world champion boxing free-agent. His advisor is Bill Waller, and managed by Shawana Bundrage.
In 2006, professional boxer Cornelius 'K9' Bundrage was a participant on ESPN's "The Contender" Season 2 boxing reality television show, with Hall of fame host Sugar Ray Leonard and Sylvester Stallone in Hollywood, California. During the show, Bundrage was viewed by millions of fans each week for fourteen weeks straight. He also was named "fan favorite" out of sixteen boxers from all over the United States. Bundrage was the last picked, winding up on the Blue Team. Wanting to avenge the slight, he volunteered to be the first member of his team to box in the tournament (quoting Matthew 20:16, "And the last shall be first") and found himself in a match against Michael Clark. In a tightly fought battle for five rounds, the two found themselves practically tied on points, Bundrage knocked Clark down with a massive right hand to the temple, which won him the fifth round on 2 of the 3 judge's scorecards and won a majority decision (2 judges said Bundrage won, 1 said it was a draw). Bundrage moved along in the tournament, while Clark was forced to hang up his gloves and go home.
